In this paper, a robust speed controller considering the effect of uncertainty (plant parameter variation. external load disturbance. unmodeled and nonlinear dynamics etc..) for induction motor is proposed. Firstly. the dynamic model at nominal case of induction motor is estimated. Based on the estimated model. the IPSC ( Integral - Proportional Speed Controller) is designed. Then a DTRC (Dead-time Robust Controller) combining DTC ( Dead-time Compensator) & SRC (Simple Robust Controller) is designed to reduce the effects of parameter variation and external disturbance. Some simulated results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

This paper presents a implementation method of reliable speed limitation controller considering motor parameter variation in high speed operation. In spinning process of drum washing machine, speed increase has to be limited when unallowable imbalance mass is detected. Otherwise, severe noise and vibration can happen because noise and vibration are proportional to imbalance mass. To detect imbalance mass, d-axis current magnitude is used. However, we have to compensate for back-emf and power supply variation by means of detecting them because d-axis current is affected by both of them. On the other hand, we have to carefully estimate back-emf because back-emf is affected by stator resistance variation and inverter voltage error. Stator resistance variation can happen by manufacturing process for mass production or temperature variation in running. And there are inverter voltage errors between command voltage from micro-computer to inverter and real voltage from inverter to motor because of rising and falling time delay and turn-on resistance of power semiconductor switch. To solve this problem, we propose 2-step align current injection method which is to inject step-wise current right before starting. By this method, we can simply obtain stator resistance by ratio of voltage without inverter voltage error and current, and we can measure inverter voltage error. So we can obtain more exact model current, and then by simple calculation with compensation gain, we can estimate more accurate motor back-emf. We show that this method works well. It is verified through experiments.

In this paper, an adaptive compensation technique for parameter variation is proposed which can perform quick torque response in vector control of an induction motors. To solve the problem of control performance degradation due to parameter variation in an induction motor, a rotor resistance estimation is performed by the model reference adaptive control(MRAC). The algorithm of rotor resistance estimation is composed of the error relationship which is generated between a motor real instantaneous reactive power and an estimated instantaneous reactive power. The advantage of such a real reactive power reference model is independence of the motor parameter variation. The estimation rotor resistance values are applied to the direct vector control system with a flux observer. Finally, the simulations and experiment are presented to validate the rotor resistance estimation algorithm of induction motor.
Robust parameter design is to identify appropriate settings of control factors that make the system's performance robust to changes in the noise factors that represent the source of variation. In this paper, we introduce a factor analysis approach to simultaneously optimize multiple quality characteristics in the robust parameter design. An example is illustrated to compare it with already proposed method.

Reliability analysis of structures based on fracture mechanics requires knowledge on statistical characteristics of the parameter C and m in the fatigue crack growth law, $da/dN=C({\Delta}K)^m$. The purpose of the present study is to investigate if it is possible to predict fatigue crack growth rate by only the fluctuation of the parameter C. In this study, Paris-Erdogan law is adopted, where the author treat the parameter C as random and m as constant. The fluctuation of crack growth rate is assumed only due to the parameter C. The growth resistance coefficient of material to fatigue crack growth (Z=1/C) was treated as a spatial stochastic process, which varies randomly on the crack path. The theoretical crack growth rates at various stress intensity factor range are discussed. Constant ${\Delta}K$ fatigue crack growth tests were performed on the structural steel, SM45C. The experimental data were analyzed to determine the autocorrelation function and Weibull distributions of the fatigue crack growth resistance. And also, the effect of the parameter m of Paris' law due to variation of fatigue crack growth resistance was discussed.

In the present study, the Weibull statistical analysis using the Monte-Carlo simulation has been performed to investigate the micro-Vickers hardness measurement reliability considering the variability. Experimental indentation test were performed with a micro-Vickers hardness tester for as-received and quenching and tempering specimens in SCM440 steels. The distribution of micro-Vickers hardness is found to be 2-parameter Weibull distribution function. The mean values and coefficients of variation (COV) for both data set are compared with results based on Weibull statistical analysis. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulation was performed in order to evaluate the effect of sample size on the micro-Vickers hardness measurement reliability. For the parent distribution with shape parameter 30.0 and scale parameter 200.0 (COV=0.040), the number of sample data required to obtain the true Weibull parameters was founded by 20. For the parent distribution with shape parameter 10.0 and scale parameter 200.0 (COV=0.1240), the number of sample data required to obtain the true Weibull parameters was founded by 30.

It is of the most urgent necessity to get hydrological time series of long duration for the establishment of rational design and operation criterion for the Agricultural hydraulic structures. This study was conducted to select best fitted frequency distribution for the monthly runoff and to simulate long series of generated flows by multi-season first order Markov model with comparison of statistical parameters which are derivated from observed and sy- nthetic flows in the five watersheds along Geum river basin. The results summarized through this study are as follows. 1. Both two parameter gamma and two parameter lognormal distribution were judged to be as good fitted distributions for monthly discharge by Kolmogorov-Smirnov method for goodness of fit test in all watersheds. 2. Statistical parameters were obtained from synthetic flows simulated by two parameter gamma distribution were closer to the results from observed flows than those of two para- meter lognormal distribution in all watersheds. 3. In general, fluctuation for the coefficient of variation based on two parameter gamma distribution was shown as more good agreement with the observed flow than that of two parameter lognormal distribution. Especially, coefficient of variation based on two parameter lognormal distribution was quite closer to that of observed flow during June and August in all years. 4. Monthly synthetic flows based on two parameter gamma distribution are considered to give more reasonably good results than those of two parameter lognormal distribution in the multi-season first order Markov model in all watersheds. 5. Synthetic monthly flows with 100 years for eack watershed were sjmulated by multi- season first order Markov model based on two parameter gamma distribution which is ack- nowledged to fit the actual distribution of monthly discharges of watersheds. Simulated sy- nthetic monthly flows may be considered to be contributed to the long series of discharges as an input data for the development of water resources. 6. It is to be desired that generation technique of synthetic flow in this study would be compared with other simulation techniques for the objective time series.

In this paper, a patern recognition method of surface mount device(SMD) IC using wavelet transform and neural network is proposed. We chose the feature parameter according to the characteristics of coefficient matrix which is obtained from four level discrete wavelet transform (DWT). These feature parameters are normalized and then used for the input vector of neural network which is capable of adapting the surroundings such as variation of illumination, arrangement of objects and translation. Experimental results show that when the same form of feature pattern, as is used for learning, is put into neural network and gained 100% rate ofrecognition irrespective of SMD IC kinds, location and variation of illumination. In the case of unused feature pattern for learning, the recognition rate is 85.9% under the similar surroundings, where as an average recognition rate is 96.87% for the case of reregulated value of illumination. Proosed method is relatively simple compared with the traditional space domain method in extracting the feature parameter and is also well suited for recognizing the pattern's class, position and existence. It can also shorten the processing tiem better than method extracting feature parameter with the use of discrete cosine transform(DCT) and adapt the surroundings such as variation of illumination, the arrangement and the translation of SMD IC.
ITU-R recommends general methodology to provide current and future mobile communication services and 12 parameters to calculate terrestrial spectrum requirements. In this paper we analyzed 12 parameters suggested by ITU-R Recommendation and provided a method to determine a specific parameter value in a specific region. We calculated spectrum requirements and network resources for year 2010 in Korean mobile environment by applying parameter values acquired in parameter analysis method of this paper. And we analyzed the variation of spectrum requirements by calculating spectrum requirements depending on variation of parameters for future mobile communication services.

Optimal design parameters are estimated from the sensitivity function and performance index variation. Suspension design modification for performance improvement and basic materials for practical applications are presented. The linear quarter model of a vehicle suspension is analyzed in order to represent the utilities of sensitivity analysis, and sensitivity function is determined in the frequency domain. The change of frequency response function is predicted, which depends on the design parameter variation and the property is verified by computer simulation. As an investigation results of sensitivity function for the vibrational amplitude of sprung mass to road profile input, it is shown that the most sensitive parameters are the suspension damping and the suspension stiffness. In order to identify the effects of these two parameters to the performance of suspension system, the performance index variation according to the changes of parameters is considered and then optimal design parameters are determined. It is verified that the system response is improved noticeably in the both of frequency and time domain after the design modification with the optimal parameters.
