  • This research is a described result of experimental for the parameter's effecting the microhole machining by Nd-Yag laser, The parameters are energy, pulse interval time a kin of assisting gas and its pressure. The result reveals that parameter value of energy 0.08J, pulse 20Hz, interval time of 300 microseconds could be a good machining condition to make upper microhoel that is the diameter range of 50-70${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. At tat time the assistant gas such air, $O_2$, Ar $N_2$, was appelied. Assistant gas of air makes heat affected zone enlarge due to burning of material surface. Also it makes microhole irregular and damageable. Because of refusion caused by chemical reaction with $Al_2O_3$ ceramic material . The $O_2$(99.9%) has good characteristics to get good drilling and smooth surface on pressure of 0.2kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ but it is expensive. Ar, $N_2$ make material crack and burnning and proved that to be unappropriate but, Ar was a better than $N_2$.

  • A design and DSP-based implementation of robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) under the unknown parameter variations and speed measurement error is presented. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of slowly varying parameters are derived using the MIT rule. For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters, a quasilinearized and decoupled model which includes the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller which employs Proportional plus Derivative(PD) control. To show the validity of the proposed scheme, simulations and DSP-based experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • Importance of procuring adequate knowledge about the mechanical behavior of double-layered graphene sheets (DLGSs) incensed the authors to investigate wave propagation responses of mentioned element while rested on a visco-Pasternak medium under hygro-thermal loading. A nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) is exploited to present a more reliable size-dependent mechanical analysis by capturing both softening and hardening effects of small scale. Furthermore, in the framework of a classical plate theory the kinematic relations are developed. Incorporating kinematic relations with the definition of Hamilton's principle, the Euler-Lagrange equations of each of the layers are derived separately. Afterwards, combining Euler-Lagrange equations with those of the NSGT the nonlocal governing equations are written in terms of displacement fields. Interaction of the each of the graphene sheets with another one is regarded by the means of vdW model. Then, a widespread analytical solution is employed to solve the derived equations and obtain wave frequency values. Subsequently, influence of each participant variable containing nonlocal parameter, length scale parameter, foundation parameters, temperature gradient and moisture concentration is studied by plotting various figures.

  • This paper presents the influence of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) waviness and aspect ratio on the vibrational behavior of functionally graded nanocomposite sandwich annular sector plates resting on two-parameter elastic foundations. The carbon nanotube-reinforced (CNTR) sandwich plate has smooth variation of CNT fraction along the thickness direction. The distributions of CNTs are considered functionally graded (FG) or uniform along the thickness and their mechanical properties are estimated by an extended rule of mixture. In this study, the classical theory concerning the mechanical efficiency of a matrix embedding finite length fibers has been modified by introducing the tube-to-tube random contact, which explicitly accounts for the progressive reduction of the tubes' effective aspect ratio as the filler content increases. Effects of CNT distribution, volume fraction, aspect ratio and waviness, and also effects of Pasternak's elastic foundation coefficients, sandwich plate thickness, face sheets thickness and plate aspect ratio are investigated on the free vibration of the sandwich plates with wavy CNT-reinforced face sheets. The study is carried out based on three-dimensional theory of elasticity and in contrary to two-dimensional theories, such as classical, the first- and the higher-order shear deformation plate theories, this approach does not neglect transverse normal deformations. The sandwich annular sector plate is assumed to be simply supported in the radial edges while any arbitrary boundary conditions are applied to the other two circular edges including simply supported, clamped and free.

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to develop a crash prediction model at signalized intersections, which can capture the randomness and uncertainty of traffic accident forecasting in order to provide more precise results. METHODS : The authors propose a random parameter (RP) approach to overcome the limitation of the Count model that cannot consider the heterogeneity of the assigned locations or road sections. For the model's development, 55 intersections located in the Daejeon metropolitan area were selected as the scope of the study, and panel data such as the number of crashes, traffic volume, and intersection geometry at each intersection were collected for the analysis. RESULTS : Based on the results of the RP negative binomial crash prediction model developed in this study, it was found that the independent variables such as the log form of average annual traffic volume, presence or absence of left-turn lanes on major roads, presence or absence of right-turn lanes on minor roads, and the number of crosswalks were statistically significant random parameters, and this showed that the variables have a heterogeneous influence on individual intersections. CONCLUSIONS : It was found that the RP model had a better fit to the data than the fixed parameters (FP) model since the RP model reflects the heterogeneity of the individual observations and captures the inconsistent and biased effects.

  • This study applied the Bayesian method for the quantification of the parameter uncertainty of spatial linear mixed model in the estimation of the spatial distribution of probability rainfall. In the application of Bayesian method, the prior sensitivity analysis was implemented by using the priors normally selected in the existing studies which applied the Bayesian method for the puppose of assessing the influence which the selection of the priors of model parameters had on posteriors. As a result, the posteriors of parameters were differently estimated which priors were selected, and then in the case of the prior combination, F-S-E, the sizes of uncertainty intervals were minimum and the modes, means and medians of the posteriors were similar to the estimates using the existing classical methods. From the comparitive analysis between Bayesian and plug-in spatial predictions, we could find that the uncertainty of plug-in prediction could be slightly underestimated than that of Bayesian prediction.

  • In terms of waste load allocation, inequality of waste load discharge must be considered as well as economic aspects such as minimization of waste load abatement. The inequality of waste load discharge between areas was calculated with Gini coefficient and was included as one of the objective functions of the multi-objective waste load allocation. In the past, multi-objective functions were usually weighted and then transformed into a single objective optimization problem. Recently, however, due to the difficulties of applying weighting factors, multi-objective genetic algorithms (GA) that require only one execution for optimization is being developed. This study analyzes multi-objective waste load allocation using NSGA-II-aJG that applies Pareto-dominance theory and it's adaptation of jumping gene. A sensitivity analysis was conducted for the parameters that have significant influence on the solution of multi-objective GA such as population size, crossover probability, mutation probability, length of chromosome, jumping gene probability. Among the five aforementioned parameters, mutation probability turned out to be the most sensitive parameter towards the objective function of minimization of waste load abatement. Spacing and maximum spread are indexes that show the distribution and range of optimum solution, and these two values were the optimum or near optimal values for the selected parameter values to minimize waste load abatement.

  • Reinforced concrete (RC) joint shear strength models are constructed using an experimental database in conjunction with a Bayesian parameter estimation method. The experimental database consists of RC beam-column connection test subassemblies that maintained proper confinement within the joint panel. All included test subassemblies were subjected to quasi-static cyclic lateral loading and eventually experienced joint shear failure (either in conjunction with or without yielding of beam reinforcement); subassemblies with out-of-plane members and/or eccentricity between the beam(s) and the column are not included in this study. Three types of joint shear strength models are developed. The first model considers all possible influence parameters on joint shear strength. The second model contains those parameters left after a step-wise process that systematically identifies and removes the least important parameters affecting RC joint shear strength. The third model simplifies the second model for convenient application in practical design. All three models are unbiased and show similar levels of scatter. Finally, the improved performance of the simplified model for design is identified by comparison with the current ACI 352R-02 RC joint shear strength model.

  • Existing plane stress solutions for thin plates and disks have shown several qualitative features which are difficult to handle with the use of commercial numerical codes (non-existence of solutions, singular solutions, rapid growth of the plastic zone with a loading parameter). In order to understand the effect of temperature and pressure-dependency of the yield criterion on some of such features as well as on the distribution of residual stresses and strains, a semi-analytic solution for a thin hollow disk fixed to a rigid container and subject to thermal loading and subsequent unloading is derived. The material model is elastic-perfectly/plastic. The Drucker-Prager pressure-dependent yield criterion and the equation of incompressibity for plastic strains are adopted. The distribution of residual stresses and strains is illustrated for a wide range of the parameter which controls pressure-dependency of the yield criterion.

  • Performance of DI diesel engine with high fuel injection method is directly related to the emission characteristics and fuel consumption. At present, diesel injection system with piezo element is replacing conventional solenoid type due to their faster electro-mechanical properties. In this study, it was investigated the sensitivity characteristics regarding internal hydraulic modeling based on the AMESim environment of piezo-driven injector The analytic parameter for this study defined such as In/Out orifice, injection hole's diameter and driven voltage on piezo stack. As the results, it was shown that these parameter influence on a fast response characteristics of piezo-driven injector. Also we found fuel pressure recovery time is faster about 0.1 ms due to larger IN orifice diameter. And larger OUT orifice diameter occurs maximum pressure drop with faster its timing of about 0.2 ms.
