  • In this paper, a regenerative braking algorithm is proposed to make the maximum use of the regenerative braking energy for an independent front and rear motor drive parallel HEV. In the regenerative braking algorithm, the regenerative torque is determined by considering the motor capacity, motor efficiency, battery SOC, gear ratio, clutch state, engine speed and vehicle velocity. To implement the regenerative braking algorithm, HEV powertrain models including the internal combustion engine, electric motor, battery, manual transmission and the regenerative braking system are developed using MATLAB, and the regenerative braking performance is investigated by the simulator. Simulation results show that the proposed regenerative braking algorithm contributes to increasing the battery SOC, which recuperates 60 percent of the total braking energy while satisfying the design specification of the control logic. In addition, a control algorithm which limits the regenerative braking is suggested by considering the battery power capacity and dynamic response characteristics of the hydraulic control module.

  • Effect of polyaniline and additives on surface appearance of Zn electrodeposition was investigated by SEM and XRD analyzing. We carried out the experiment from sulfate Zinc bath containing sulfonated polyaniline, gelatin and thiourea by EG(Electrogalvanizing) simulator. Addition of polyaniline and gelatin in bath, crystal size and shape of hexagonal plane of Zn crystal reduced. Mixing of thiourea, however, brittle deposits were observed because of the difference between vertical growth and parallel growth. (1011) peak appeared with polyaniline and gelatin in XRD analysis. In case of mixing of polyaniline, gelatin and thiourea, (1011) peak appeared and intensity of Zn basal plane decreased. These results suggested that overpotential increased with addition of polyaniline and additives In bath.

  • To improve control performance of a non-linear system, many other reserches have used the sliding model control algorithm. The sliding mode controller is known to be robust against nonlinear and unmodeled dynamic terms. However, this algorithm raises the inherent chattering caused by excessive switching inputs around the sliding surface. Therefore, in order to solve the chattering problem and improve control performance, this study has developed the sliding mode controller with a perturbation estimator using the observer-based fuzzy adaptive network. The perturbation estimator based on the fuzzy adaptive network generates the control input of compensating unmodeled dynamics terms and disturbance. And the weighting parameters of the fuzzy adaptive network are updated on-line by adaptive law in order to force the estimation errors converge to zero. Therefore, the combination of sliding mode control and fuzzy adaptive network gives rise to the robust and intelligent routine. For evaluation control performance of the proposed approach, tracking control simulation is carried is carried out for the hydraulic motion simulator which is a 6-degree of freedom parallel manipulator.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the driving performance and workload according to changing driving environment and types of steering wheel. Twelve drivers who participated in this study consisted of two groups; six Japanese as the left-lane drivers who was accustomed to driving on left-hand side of the road, and six Europeans, Americans, and Korean as the right-lane drivers who was accustomed to driving on right-hand side of the road. They were asked to operate a driving simulator while using two different types of steering wheel (for the left-hand side driving and the right-hand side driving). During the experiment, a range of data were measured including driving performance, mental workload, and eye movements which were recorded in order to identify the amount of time looking towards the in-vehicle route guidance. Results indicated that the use of the steering wheel by parallel moving led to increase high attentional demand and worse glance behavior to traffic signs for the left-lane drivers. In the case of the right-lane drivers, the effects by changing driving direction were more effective than the types of steering wheel due to their habit or traits.

  • In this work, the testable CAM(Content Addressable Memory) is designed to perform the test effectively by inserting the ECC(Error Checking Circuit) inside the CAM. The designed CAM has the circuit which is capable of testing the functional faults in read, write, and match operations. In general the test circuit inserted causes the increase of total circuit area, Thus this work, utilizes the new MTA code to reduce the overhead of an area of the built-in test circuit which has a conventional parallel comparator. The designed circuit was verified using the VHDL simulator and the layout was performed using the 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ double metal CMOS process. About 30% reduction of a circuit area wad achieved in the proposed CAM using the XOR circuit

  • In this paper, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for MMCs is established, which connects a real time digital simulator (RTDS) and a designed MMC controller with optical fiber. In this platform, the converter valves are simulated with a small time step of 2.5 microsecond in the RTDS, and multicore technology is implemented for the controller so that the parallel valve control is distributed between different cores. Therefore, the designed controller can satisfy the requirements of real-time control. The functions of the designed platform and the rationality for the designed controller are verified through experimental tests. The results show that different modulation modes and various control strategies can be implemented in the simulation platform and that each control objective can been tracked accurately and with a fast dynamic response.

  • Object recognition is a challenging application for high-performance computing. Currently, the superscalar architecture dominates todays microprocessor marketplace. As more transistors are integrated onto larger die, however, an on-chip multiprocessor is regarded as a promising alternative to the superscalar microprocessor. This paper examines the behavior of the object recognition on the on-chip multiprocessor, which will be employed in general-purpose parallel machines. To obtain the performance characteristics of the microprocessor, a program-driven simulator and its programming environment were developed. The simulation results showed that the on-chip multiprocessor can exploit thread level parallelisms effectively and offer a promising architecture for the object recognition application.

  • A new compact UWB bandpass filter with sharp-rejection and low insertion-loss is designed in this paper, using the parallel transmission line with SIR structure. An Example filter is firstly theoretically designed by the proposed synthesis procedure, the optimized by EM simulator, fabricated in microstrip line and finally characterized by a network analyzer. A good agreement between the simulation results and prototype validates the proposed UWB bandpass filter. The designed filter also realized a sharp rejection of higher order with a relatively small size which is proper for the UWB communication system.

  • This paper presents a novel fourth harmonic mixer with new structure. The traditional 3-ports fourth harmonic mixer and the novel fourth harmonic mixer are designed by ADS, HFSS and CST simulator. The mixers have been fabricated and tested. The size of the traditional 3-ports fourth harmonic mixer is $12{\times}15$ mm, and the best conversion loss is 18.7 dB according to the measurement. Since the traditional 3-port mixer size is too large to be ranked, we design a novel fourth harmonic mixer for imaging system. The width of the mixing module in the novel fourth harmonic mixer is only 3.65 mm, and this size is fully capable to meet the mixer unit space which is not greater than 5 mm. The simulation result shows that the mixer has good performance, and the experiment result shows that the best conversion loss of the novel fourth harmonic mixer is 16.3 dB at RF signal of 91.3 GHz.
