  • In this paper, we proposed a new design methodology to improve the classification performance of the Nearest Prototype Classifier which is one of the simplest classification algorithm. To optimize the position vectors of the prototypes in the nearest prototype classifier, we use the differential evolutionary algorithm. The optimized position vectors of the prototypes result in the improvement of the classification performance. The new method to determine the class labels of the prototypes, which are defined by the differential evolutionary algorithm, is proposed. In addition, the experimental application covers a comparative analysis including several previously commonly encountered methods.

  • This paper describes the modelling method of hybrid step motors including magnetic saturation effects of iron parts and the simulation for design of a prototype. Based on the above procedure, the prototype of a step motor is produced and its characteristics are discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to produce color harmony code based on color harmony prototype in terms of environmental color design. This paper proposes ways of categorizing more accurate color harmony prototype through digital image processing by the computer program called the Color Syntax. The method of analysis adopted in this paper is pixel based color image processing. The study suggests color harmony prototype which are categorized by a color harmony angles. These angles represented internal relations between colors. This study describes development processes of color harmony prototype which is a basis for creating color harmony codes. Development processes of color harmony schema consists of color analysis, color codes generation and color selection. Also, how to analyze color images and to chose suitable harmony color codes among various codes are main research issues. As a final result, 109 color harmony codes have been obtained. These code numbers are suggested through rotating 2 color pairs in a 360-degree arc in the same color harmony angles, the codes which is applicable to the color harmony schema previously developed. This color harmony codes will produce better color environment in a sense that it will help designers to maximally reduce their time consumption, and the results of their designs will also be related to the use of proper color for regional environments.

  • The paper deals with the implementation of prototype Ship Simulator system (VRSS) by Virtual Reality techniques with Head Mounted Display (HMD) device. The prototype VRSS was consists of PC-based human sensors, object oriented operating system. In addition, two kinds of databases arranged from Head Related Transfer Functions and 3D object models were used to create 3D sea sound, and to construct virtual world, respectively. Using the prototype system, we carried out some simulation tests for the overtaking situation to prevent collisions at sea, and discussed on the usability of the system. As results from simulations, the prototype VRSS can provide multisensory and interactive display environment. The results gave rise to the user interaction with 3D objects that give realistic reproduction of navigational environments under a given scenario. Thus, we found that the prototype VRSS should be one of the next-generation ship simulation system.

  • The objective of this study is to provide the information on the small-scale model mix proportion when the behavior of prototype concrete pavement is studied through small-scale model experiments. However it is difficult to obtain a model material to simulate the prototype concrete by scaling the individual components according to the laws of similitude. In this paper, the stress-strain behavior in uniaxial compression is used as a means to correlate materials similitude between the prototype and the model concrete. Based on th results of experiments, We compared the stress-strain curves of prototype and model concrete mixes using a nondimensional basis. In order to simulate the stress-strain curves of prototype concrete, it is important that various mix as of model concrete selected properly which are varied from aggregate grading, cement-aggregate and sand-aggregate ratio.

Design of a Magnetostrictive MicroActuator (자기변형 마이크로 작동기의 설계)

  • This paper presents the development of a magnetostrictive microactuator. The structural and functional requirements are as follows: it must be a millimeter structure and must achieve controllable displacement with nanometer resolution. Finite Element Analysis(FEA) is used to determine the structure with the most uniform and highest magnetic flux density along the Terfenol-D rod. The microactuator prototype 1 is designed and made based on the FEA. It is observed that the microactuator show some level of hysteresis and that it produces 25 newton in force and 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in displacement with 1.5 amperes of current, and resolution of 250 nm per 0.1 amperes. To improve the performance of the microactuator prototype 1, microactuator prototype 2 is made again with a permanent magnet (PM). It is observed that the microactuator prototype 2 gene.ates 3.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in displacement with 0.9 amperes of current. It means that the microactuator prototype 2 performs better than the microactuator prototype 1.

  • As human-centered design has become new paradigm in the whole field of design, they make an effort to understand users in the field of graphic interface design. However, there are not much of study to systematic process for human-centered approach in graphic interface design. Therefore, in this paper, the study was conducted to develop application methodology of prototype in the graphic user interface design process. The study consists of three sections. first, definition, types and application methods are introduced by secondary research. Second, all the knowledge gathered above by secondary research are integrated in the newly proposed Prototype-based interface design process. There are many types of prototype from idea sketches on the paper to final working prototype realized by computer. It is needed to develop and test appropriate prototype with appropriate techniques by objectives of the stages. Finally, the proposed prototype-base design process is verified and exemplified through the process of using prototype in the development of multi-user educational multimedia product.

  • In this paper, dc reactor lot the inductive high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) was optimally designed by finite element method(FEM). The Prototype high-Tc do reactor was manufactured and compared to the results of design. This dc reactor consists of 4∼stacked double pancake coils which are wounded with Bi-2223 wire coated with SUS315L. Kapton tape is used for the insulation of turn to turn and layer to layer. Each pancake is connected in series by soldering Finally, optimal design and manufacture method lot the dc reactor is suggested in this paper. Through the comparison of result of optimal design and experimental result of prototype high-Tc superconducting dc reactor, reliance on the design of the high-Tc dc reactor tot the 1.2 kV/80 A SFCL is proved.

  • In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy prototype pattern classifier. In the proposed classifier, each prototype is defined to describe the related sub-space and the weight value is assigned to the prototype. The weight value assigned to the prototype leads to the change of the boundary surface. In order to define the prototypes, we use Fuzzy C-Means Clustering which is the one of fuzzy clustering methods. In order to optimize the weight values assigned to the prototypes, we use the Differential Evolutionary Algorithm. We use Linear Discriminant Analysis to estimate the coefficients of the polynomial which is the structure of the consequent part of a fuzzy rule. Finally, in order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, the machine learning data sets are used.

Adaptive prototype generating technique for improving performance of a p-Snake (p-Snake의 성능 향상을 위한 적응 원형 생성 기법)

  • p-Snake is an energy minimizing algorithm that applies an additional prototype energy to the existing Active Contour Model and is used to extract the contour line in the area where the edge information is unclear. In this paper suggested the creation of a prototype energy field that applies a variable prototype expressed as a combination of circle and straight line primitives, and a fudge function, to improve p-Snake's contour extraction performance. The prototype was defined based on the parts codes entered and the appropriate initial contour was extracted in each primitive zones acquired from the pre-processing process. Then, the primitives variably adjusted to create the prototype and the contour probability based on the distance to the prototype was calculated through the fuzzy function to create the prototype energy field. This was applied to p-Snake to extract the contour from 100 images acquired from various small parts and compared its similarity with the prototype to find that p-Snake made with the adaptive prototype was about 4.6% more precise than the existing Snake method.
