  • Physical therapists should under stand motor control models and apply various models to evaluation and treatment of neurologically impaired patients. Thus, this paper reviews motor control models and applications in clinical settings. Assumptions and limitations of reflex models, hierarchical models, and systems models are presented. This paper also delineates goals and dissatisfaction of neurologic rehabilitation approaches for neurologically impaired patients. Muscle reeducation approach, neurotherapeutic facilitation approach, and contemporary task-oriented approach are explained.

  • The purpose of this paper is to exhibit existing replacement models and to develop new replacement models for managing equipments in large organizations, private or public. Some of the models in this paper are well known and in use, and some are not. All these models are classified, depending on main factors which play key roles on the models. One group is the models in which the economic factor plays a key role, and the other is those in which both the economic factor and the effectiveness factor play key roles.

  • The Adoption/Diffusion of Innovations(New Product), a topic of study and research that has frown rapidly in the past few decades, deals with how a new product is adopted in a society. It is of high importance to marketing organizations because New Products must be brought out continuously in order to service. The purpose of this paper is to examine the Adoption/Diffusion Models for New product which will help to analyze the Adoption/Diffusion process of Adopters. There are a number of models that, with varying degrees of success, have been used to predict market acceptance of new product. Development of Empirical and Statistical Models for Prediction of Water Quality of Pretreated Wastewater in Pulp and Paper Industry (제지공정 폐수 전처리 수질예측을 위한 실험적 모델과 통계적 모델 개발)

  • Pulp and paper industry produces large volumes of wastewater and residual sludge waste, resulting in many issues in relation to wastewater treatment and sludge disposal. Contaminants in pulp and paper wastewater include effluent solids, sediments, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and biological oxygen demand (BOD), which should be treated by wastewater treatment processes such as coagulation and biological treatment. However, few works have been attempted to predict the treatment efficiency of pulp and paper wastewater. Accordingly, this study presented empirical models based on experimental data in laboratory-scale coagulation tests and compared them with statistical models such as artificial neural network (ANN). Results showed that the water quality parameters such as turbidity, suspended solids, COD, and UVA can be predicted using either linear or expoential regression models. Nevertheless, the accuracies for turbidity and UVA predictions were relatively lower than those for SS and COD. On the other hand, ANN showed higher accuracies than the emprical models for all water parameters. However, it seems that two kinds of models should be used together to provide more accurate information on the treatment efficiency of pulp and paper wastewater.

Accident Models of Circular Intersections by Weather Condition in Korea (기상상태에 따른 국내 원형교차로 사고모형)

  • This study deals with the traffic accidents by weather condition. The objectives are to comparatively analyze the characteristics, and to develop the models of traffic accidents by weather condition. In pursuing the above, this paper gives particular attentions to testing the differences between two groups, and developing the models(Poisson and negative binomial regression) using the data of domestic circular intersections. The main results are as follows. First, three Poisson models and one negative binomial models which were all statistically significant were developed using the number of accident and EPDO by the clear weather and other as the dependant variables. Second, the differences between two models were comparatively analyzed using the chosen variables. This paper might be expected to give some implications to traffic safety policy-making to reduce and prevent the traffic accidents in circular intersections.

  • Wind tunnel test models for super tall buildings mainly include synchronized pressure models, high-frequency force balance models, forced vibration models and aeroelastic models. Aeroelastic models, especially MDOF aeroelastic models, are relatively accurate, and designing MDOF model is an important step in aero-model wind tunnel tests. In this paper, the authors propose a simple and accurate design method for MDOF model. The purpose of this paper is to make it easier to design MDOF models without unnecessary experimentation, which is of great significance for the use of the aero-model for tall buildings.

  • Sequentiality in decision making is an inherent characteristic of the R&D Process, Conceptual changes are noted during the Course of the Project which represent a continuous improvement in the quality of the data available during the various project stages.   • Various theoretical models have developed io both a family research area and family therapy field on he basis of several family theories and social theories in order to understand the family life and its function. These theoretical models have give rise to provide not only a framework for family therapy bt also opportunities for the development of family studies. Regardless of the devotion of these theoretical models to a family therapy however some family therapy professions have suggested the disvergence between these models and practice because the models tend to confuse therapists in their actual practices Other family therapists on the other hand have claimed the convergence between these models and practice. One of the reasons for the issues of convergence and disvergence in the family therapy study would be that various theoretical models have different sometimes contradicatable definitions and explanations for same concept. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to investigate the extent of similarities and differences among these theoretical models of practice in a way of examining family models to compare Olson's circumplex model to the Beavers systems model. Both models were based on the general systems theory. This paper consists of the explanation of Olson's circumplex model and Beavers systems model in general respectively. Then it will investigate similarities and differences between these two models in terms of the relationship between family functioning and family adaptability.

DEVSim++ - NS2 Interoperating Environment for Protocol Evaluation (프로토콜 평가를 위한 DEVSim++ 와 NS2 의 연동 환경)

  • This paper proposes a methodology for development of protocol models. The methodology attempts to employ two modeling environments in models development, NS2 and DEVSim++, which will interoperate during simulation. NS2 is a widely used network simulator in protocol research, which employs an informal modeling approach. Within the approach time and state information of protocol models are not explicitly described, thus being hard to validate model. On the other hand the DEVS formalism is a mathematical framework for modeling a discrete event system in a hierarchical, modular manner. In DEVS, model's time and state information is described explicitly, By using DEVS formalism, models can easily be validated and errors in the modeling stage can be reduced. However, the DEVS simulator, DEVSim++, supports a small amount of models library which are required to build simulation models of general communication network. Although NS2 employs an informal modeling approach and models validation is difficult, it supports abundant models library validated by experimental users. Thus, combination of DEVS models and NS2 models may be an effective solution for network modeling. Such combination requires interoperation between DEVSim++ simulator and NS2 simulator. This paper develops an environment for such interoperation. Correctness and effectiveness of the implemented interoperation environment have been validated by simulation of UDP and TCP models.

On an Optimal Artillery Deployment Plan (포대의 적정배치 방안)

  • This paper offers an optimal artillery deployment scheme for the defending unit when two forces are confronted at a military front line. When proposed gun sites, types and number of guns as well as targets are given, the solutions of the two models in this paper direct each (unit of) guns to a certain location. The aim of the models is to maximize the number of guns which can hit important targets. Unlike widely used target assignment models, these models are formulated using the set covering problem concept. These models do not contain probabilities and time. Thus they are simple as models, easy in implementation, and yield tractable solutions. The dynamic and probabilistic feature of battle situations is implicitly reflected on the models. The first model is for the case that enemies' approaching route is clearly predictable, while the second model is for the unpredictable approaching route case.
