피에조의 인치웜 방식에 의한 미세 이송 기구 (Micro-feeding Mechanism By Inchworm Type of Piezoelectric ceramic)

  • In this paper, a new type of inchworm motion actuator is introduced. This is consisted of two piezoelectric ceramics; one is for moving the slider, and the other is for clamping the slider in the guide way of the body. The linearity and positional accuracy of the system is good enough for the high precision motion. Since the system is more compact than the conventional system using three piezoelectric ceramics, it is applicable fur the micro-machine or MEMS. However, the effort for reducing the vibration, velocity discrepancy in the motion direction, and compensating the hysteresis behavior is additionally needed.

  • In this paper, a micro-turning lathe is introduced for micro machining of aluminum rod. To give feed motion, stepwise motion[2] actuators are used instead of the conventional inchworm mechanism. These are consisted of two Piezoelectric ceramics; one is for feeding the slider, and the other is for clamping the slider in the guide way of the body. The guide is V-form. The linearity and positional accuracy of the actuators is good enough far high precision motion. Since the system is more compact than the conventional system using three Piezoelectric ceramics, it is applicable for the micro-machine or MEMS unit. To fabricate the lathe, a small spindle unit with ball bearings of diameter of 10 millimeter is built-up on the top the slider. The motion is feed backed with miniaturized linear encoder attached each axis slider. The diamond tool bite is used for cutting tool. The machining is tried to make small diameter rod. The possible diameter that can be machined in this machine is presented as well as chip formation, surface roughness, and machinability.

  • The bundling process is the final step in vegetable manufacturing, however, the process is a little difficult to be automatized, because vegetable has the physical properties of roughness, softness, and fragility etc. In this paper, we proposed an automatic bundling mechanism for vegetable based on the heat melt sticking. The proposed mechanism consists of three modules, one module is the moving part for aligning of the vegetable shape and adjusting of the vegetable tension, second module is the arm driving part for the vegetable binding and the band roll releasing, and third module is band joining, band cutting, and band feeding part for the vegetable binding continuously. Through this research, Using the SMO(SimDesigner Motion) module, we optimize condition of mechanical movement of the bundling mechanism. This bundling system designed in order to binding 288 bundle/hour.

Development of a Bio-mimetic Entertainment Robot with Autonomous Feeding Functionality

  • Most of the recently developed robots are human friendly robots which imitate an animal or human such as entertainment robot, bio-mimetic robot and humanoid robot. Interest in these robots are increasing since the social trend is focused on health, welfare, and graying. By these social backgrounds, robots become more human friendly and suitable for home or personal environment. The more bio-mimetic robots resemble living creature, the more human feels familiarity. People feel close friendship not only when they feed a pet, but also when they watch a pet having the food. Most of entertainment robots and pet robots use internal-type batteries and have a self-recharging function. Entertainment robots and pet robots with internal-type batteries are not able to operate during charging the battery. So far there have been a few robots that do not depend on a battery. However, they need a bulky energy conversion unit and a slug or foods as an energy source, which is not suitable for home or personal application. In this paper, we introduce a new bio-mimetic entertainment robot with autonomous feeding functionality, called ELIRO-1(Eating LIzard RObot version 1). The ELIRO-1 is able to find a food (a small battery), feed by itself and evacuate. We describe the design concept of the autonomous feeding mechanism of the ELIRO-1, characteristics of sub-parts of the manufactured mechanism and the control system.

초소형 스프링 정밀 측정을 위한 디지털 영상 처리 시스템 개발 (Development of System based on Digital Image Processing for Precision Measurement of Micro Spring)

  • The purpose of this paper is the development of an automated measurement system for micro spring based on the digital image processing technique. This micro spring can be used in various engineering applications such as filament, load bearing springs, hard disk suspension and many others. Main functionality of the micro spring inspection system is to measure the representative pitch of the micro spring. The derivative operators are used for edge detection in gray level image. Measurement system developed in this paper consisted of new auto feeding mechanism to take advantage of air pressure. In the process of development of the micro spring inspection system based on the image processing and analysis, strong background technology and know-how have been accumulated to measure micro mechanical parts.

  • 현재까지 다양한 연속적인 공정시스템은 섬유, 제지 및 인쇄 등 많은 산업응용 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 이러한 응용분야에서 공정처리를 받고 있는 제품에 가해지는 장력은 원료의 공급속도와 생산되는 제품의 방출 속도간의 속도차에 의해 변화될 수 있다 특히, 섬유공정에서 공급속도와 방출 속도간의 속도차나 관성효과에 의해 발생되는 장력변동은 제품의 품질을 저하시킬 수 있다. 따라서 섬유공정에서 이러한 요인들에 의해 발생되는 장력 변동을 적절한 방법에 의해 보상하는 것은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 섬유공정에서 많이 사용되고 있는 환편기 시스템에서의 장력제어 문제를 다루고자 한다. 먼저 일반적인 연속공정의 권취 메커니즘에 대한 장력 관계식을 모델링한다. 다음은 환편기 시스템에서 풀림롤과 감김롤을 효율적으로 구동하기 위하여 풀림롤과 감김롤간의 속도차와 관성특성을 고려한 새로운 장력제어 방법을 제시한다. 다양한 실험을 통하여 제안된 장력제어 방법이 주어진 환편기 시스템의 공정구간에서의 장력제어 성능을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보인다.

PaperMill - 박막과 마이크로 엔드밀을 사용한 적층조형 시스템 (PaperMill - A Layered Manufacturing System Using Lamination and Micro Endmill)

  • A new Layered Manufacturing(LM) system, named PaperMill, is developed applying micro milling technology. A micro endmill(127 11m in diameter) is introduced as the cutter of build material. The selected build material for this system is an adhesive-coated paper roll which provides advantages such as good bonding between layers, machinability, and low material cost. A 3-axis CNC controller and three step-motors are used for the movement of X-Y-Z table of the system. For simplicity of the control of mechanism, the control system for feeding the paper roll is uncoupled from CNC controller. Two code converters are developed for the toolpath generation of the new LM system. The NC converter generates a set of NC codes for PaperMill using commercial CAM software while the SML converter generates an NC code from Quickslice's SML format. The NC codes generated from the converters consist of a series of profile data and trigger code for paper feeding. Two sample gears were fabricated to prove the concept of the system, which shown that the dimensional errors of the fabricated gears is under 3.4 percent.

  • 액체로켓 기체공급계는 추진제를 요구되는 유량, 온도, 압력으로 엔진에 공급하여야 한다. 이를 위한 정상상태의 공급특성은 기존의 열역학 및 열전달, 유체역학 이론을 적용하여 해석하며 방법론이 잘 정립되어 있다. 발사체의 비행 중에 발생하는 탱크와 공급배관에서의 추진제의 진동은 정상상태의 공급특성을 변하게 하며 추진제공급 요구조건을 만족시키지 못하게 한다. 이러한 진동을 발생시키는 것으로서 발사체의 가속도로 인한 슬로싱 및 엔진의 추력섭동에 의해 배관 내 추진제가 진동하는 포고 불안정이 있다. 포고와 슬로싱에 의한 발사체 제어와 구조측면에서 미치는 영향에 대해서는 기존에 많은 연구가 있으나 추진제 공급특성에 미치는 영향에 대해서는 잘 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 추진제의 진동이 엔진으로의 추진제 공급에 미치는 영향을 기존 자료를 이용하여 살펴보고 진동을 제어하기 위한 기구를 살펴본다.

  • In this paper, we proposed a beam tilting microstrip patch array antenna for the reception of satellite signals by using low cost copper etched polyester films and foams. The configuration and coupling mechanism of the proposed antenna are similar to the dipole Yagi-Uda antenna. It is composed of 3 layers of polyester films and three layers of foam. In order to prevent unwanted radiation and coupling loss by microstrip feeding networks and parasitic patches, a stacked layer with rectangular slots above the driver patch array is inserted. The 16${\times}$8 element microstrip Patch way antenna is Presented by experimental results. Its beam patterns are affected by many parameters such as sizes of the patches, gap between the patches. characteristics of the substrates, feeding method, etc. Owing to its complexities of various design parameters, both simulation and experiment were performed. The fabricated antenna received DBS signal from KOREASAT 3 by doing nothing but adjusting azimuth direction.

  • 공학 설계 과정을 묘사하는 설계 방법중의 한 가지인 구성 설계 방법론을 레이저 프린터의 급지 기구 설계에 적용하였다. 급지기구 부품들은 반송될 종이에 진동을 일으키지 않고 평편하게 유지하도록 설계되어야 한다. 설계방법과 경험들은 규칙으로 나타내고, 기능에 따라 프린터 급지 기구 내의 부품들은 객체로 표현하는 하이브리드 방식을 사용한다, 여러가지 설계 제한 조건들이 고려되므로 설계의 신뢰성이 개선될 수 있다.
