  • This paper proposes a method to generate panoramic images by combining conventional feature extraction algorithms (e.g., SIFT, SURF, MPEG-7 CDVS) with sensed data from inertia sensors to enhance the stitching results. The challenge of image stitching increases when the images are taken from two different mobile phones with no posture calibration. Using inertia sensor data obtained by the mobile phone, images with different yaw, pitch, and roll angles are preprocessed and adjusted before performing stitching process. Performance of stitching (e.g., feature extraction time, inlier point numbers, stitching accuracy) between conventional feature extraction algorithms is reported along with the stitching performance with/without using the inertia sensor data. In addition, the stitching accuracy of video data was improved using the same sensed data, with discrete calculation of homograph matrix. The experimental results for stitching accuracies and speed using sensed data are presented in this paper.

  • This Paper Proposes a method of building a panoramic video from several videos captured from adjacent cameras. The panoramic image which constructed from adjacent and overlapped images is used for photogrammetry, satellite photo or many computer graphic applications. The perspective transformation, which is estimated from the appropriate corresponding pairs of images, can be used to construct the panoramic image without unwarranted distortion and its quality is decided by how to find the features needed for transform estimation. We used the corner points for the corresponding features, and morphological structures were utilized for fast and robust corner detection. We used the criterion of the corner strength, which guarantees the robust detection of the corner in most situations. For the transformation, 8 parameters were estimated from perspective equations which use matched points of adjacent images, and bilinear color blending was used to construct a soapless panoramic video. The experiments showed that the proposed method yields fast results with good quality under various conditions.

  • This paper proposes a semi-automatic image-based approach for 3-dimensional (3D) modeling of buildings along streets. Image-based urban 3D modeling techniques are typically based on the use of aerial and ground-level images. The aerial image of the relevant area is extracted from publically available sources in Google Maps by stitching together different patches of the map. Panoramic images are common for ground-level recording because they have advantages for 3D modeling. A panoramic video recorder is used in the proposed approach for recording sequences of ground-level spherical panoramic images. The proposed approach has two advantages. First, detected camera trajectories are more accurate and stable (compared to methods using multi-view planar images only) due to the use of spherical panoramic images. Second, we extract the texture of a facade of a building from a single panoramic image. Thus, there is no need to deal with color blending problems that typically occur when using overlapping textures.

  • In this paper, a low bitrate video coding method based on new panoramic modeling is proposed for panning cameras. An input video frame from a panning camera is decomposed into a background image, rectangular moving object regions, and a residual image. In coding the background, we employ a panoramic model that can account for several image formation processes, such as perspective projection, lens distortion, vignetting and illumination effects. Moving objects aredetected, and their minimum bounding rectangular regions are coded with a JPEG-2000 coder. We have evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm with several indoor and outdoor sequences and found that the PSNR is improved by $1.3{\sim}4.4dB$ compared to that of JPEG-2000.

  • In this paper, we present a construction method using perspective model which allows for the representation of the motion of a planar surface under perspective projection. The motion parameters are obtained by minimizing a disparity measure between the region in the current frame and the mapped region in the previous frame. The frames are constructed with dynamic panoramic image using a fixed reference or a time varying reference. By experiment, panoramic image proposed in this paper represents contents more efficiently than static image or video, and has a high volume reduction ratio.

  • This study aims to investigate the consumers' preference and willingness to pay for UWV panoramic video, which is a new realistic video technology, and propose the issues to be considered for developing and commercializing this technology in accordance with the needs of consumers. For this purpose, experimental study was conducted by constructing two environments; watching TV at home and watching panoramic video on the big screen. As a result, consumers in both experimental environments were more likely to prefer UWV than UHD, which is the existing video ratio. Consumers also showed intend to use UWV and are willing to pay for it. As a result of exploring the consumers' maximum amount of money to pay for the UWV and the reasons for it, the perception of immersion, liveliness, and actual experience of UWV were important factors for consumer acceptance of new realistic video technology.

  • Panorama image is a single image obtained by combining images taken at several viewpoints through matching of corresponding points. Existing panoramic image generation methods that find the corresponding points are extracting local invariant feature points in each image to create descriptors and using descriptor matching algorithm. In the case of video sequence, frames may be a lot, so therefore it may costs significant amount of time to generate a panoramic image by the existing method and it may has done unnecessary calculations. In this paper, we propose a method to quickly create a single panoramic image from a video sequence. By assuming that there is no significant changes between frames of the video such as in locally, we use the FAST algorithm that has good repeatability and high-speed calculation to extract feature points and the Lucas-Kanade algorithm as each feature point to track for find the corresponding points in surrounding neighborhood instead of existing descriptor matching algorithms. When homographies are calculated for all images, homography is changed around the center image of video sequence to warp images and obtain a planar panoramic image. Finally, the spherical panoramic image is obtained by performing inverse transformation of the spherical coordinate system. The proposed method was confirmed through the experiments generating panorama image efficiently and more faster than the existing methods.

  • There are about nine million power line poles and 1.3 million kilometers of the power line for electric power distribution in Korea. Maintenance of such a large number of electric power facilities requires a lot of manpower and time. Recently, various fault diagnosis techniques using artificial intelligence have been studied. Therefore, in this paper, proposes a power line deflection detect system using artificial intelligence and computer vision technology in images taken by vision system. The proposed system proceeds as follows. (i) Detection of transmission tower using object detection system (ii) Histogram equalization technique to solve the degradation in image quality problem of video data (iii) In general, since the distance between two transmission towers is long, a panoramic video stitching process is performed to grasp the entire power line (iv) Detecting deflection using computer vision technology after applying power line detection algorithm This paper explain and experiment about each process.

  • Since a display device such as TV or digital signage is getting larger, the types of media is getting changed into wider view one such as UHD, panoramic and jigsaw-like media. Especially, panoramic and jigsaw-like media is realized by stitching video clips, which are captured by different camera or devices. However, a stitching process takes long time, and has difficulties in applying for a real-time process. Thus, this paper suggests to find out 2D Adjacency Matrix, which tells spatial relationships among those video clips in order to decrease a stitching processing time. Using the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), we convert the each frame of video source from the spatial domain (2D) into frequency domain. Based on the aforementioned features, 2D Adjacency Matrix of images could be found that we can efficiently make the spatial map of the images by using DCT. This paper proposes a new method of generating 2D adjacency matrix by using DCT for producing a panoramic and jigsaw-like media through various individual video clips.
