Purpose - This article accentuates that there is pervasive corruption in the supply chain and procurement of goods and services in the South African public sector, particularly in the local sphere of government. Consequently, the poor and the indigents who are supposed to receive quality services are affected. Therefore, the article emphasizes the need to strengthen compliance in the supply chain and procurement processes in order to combat corruption. Research design, data, and methodology - This article extensively utilized qualitative literature review approach to address and solve the problem of endemic corruption in the supply chain and procurement being perpetrated by local government officials. Results - The synthesis shows that by strengthening compliance of supply chain and procurement strategies, measures and frameworks, the likelihood of corruption will be drastically reduced if not totally eradicated. It demonstrates that the poor and the indigents who are supposed to receive quality services are being denied due to corruption. It also shows that failure to comply should result to enforcement of punitive sanctions against perpetrators. Conclusions - This study indicates that effective and efficient implementation of supply chain and procurement strategies, measures and frameworks are panacea for curbing corruption in South Africa public sector especially at the local sphere of government.

Purpose: Distributed leadership (DL) is a comprehensive and analytical way to understand how leadership manifests itself among people and in the context of a complex organization. With technological advances and seemingly ever-changing pressures on the environment, it is important for education leaders to represent their practice. This study aims to discuss the significance of DL and its role in education. Research design, data and methodology: The present researcher used Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) because it is credible, transferable, dependable, and confirmable proving its trustworthiness. To begin with, QCA entails a sufficient representation of the social realities being studied, credibility. Results: The investigation of this study indicates that the documents are in the proper functioning of schools to highlight the potential impact of collaborative practices, many of which require sharing school fees. DL can be meant as "influence relationships," discussions in groups, government, and non-leaders, about how teachers influence each other, and teamwork was easy. Conclusions: This study suggests that management can significantly impact organizational changes in management practices to distribute or skip something planned. DL is not a panacea, plan, or formula. Rather, it is a way to get under the skin of local leadership and restore the potential for change in the organization.

Purpose - This study aims to understand the phenomenon called "regional multinational" in the geographical expansion of multinational enterprises and to find some evidence whether globalization of multinational enterprises tends to have a strong home region bias. Research design, data, and methodology - Through an in-depth case analysis, we analyze the series of strategic behaviors Wal-Mart made in South Korea from its entry in 1998 to its withdrawal in 2006. Then, we discuss the plausible causes of this exit, seeking to provide some evidence on the "regional multinational" phenomenon. Result - This study finds some evidence on the regional-based expansion of multinational enterprises. Our case study shows that Wal-Mart in South Korea focused on global standardization strategy and made an exit from the market as they were faced with increasing localization demands. From the perspective of multinational enterprises' globalization strategy, Wal-Mart's exit from the South Korean market can be considered as a strategic exit. Conclusion - The findings of this study suggest that while national responsiveness and localized adaptation are considered as a panacea for penetrating international markets, in reality most multinational enterprises attempt to add value primarily by capitalizing on similarities across markets and remain as regional multinationals.

Ginseng was the most revered of the herbs in ancient times in China, Korea, Japan, America. Ginseng was discovered over 5000 years ago in the mountains of Manchuria, China. References to ginseng are found in books dating back more than two millennia. It is revered by the Chinese people as it is considered a herb for everything use and therefore for a wide range of diseases (currently its Latin name derived from the Greek panacea, meanings, that is, for everything). So, it was used exclusively by the Chinese Emperor's, and they were willing to pay the price without problems. Increasing its fame, ginseng brought a flourishing international trade that allowed Korea to supply China with silk and medicines in exchange for wild ginseng and later along with what grows in America.

We observed that treatment with dimethyl α-ketoglutarate (DMK) increased the amount of intracellular α-ketoglutarate significantly more than that of α-ketoglutarate in HaCaT cells. DMK also increased the level of intracellular 4-hydroxyproline and promoted the production of collagen in HaCaT cells. In addition, DMK decreased the production of collagenase and elastase and down-regulated the expression of selected matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as MMP-1, MMP-9, MMP-10, and MMP-12, via transcriptional inhibition. The inhibition of MMPs by DMK was mediated by the suppression of the IL-1 signaling cascade, leading to the attenuation of ERK1/2 phosphorylation and AP-1 transactivation. Our study results illustrate that DMK, an alkylated derivative of α-ketoglutarate, increased the level of 4-hydroxyproline, promoted the production of collagen, and inhibited the expression of selected MMPs by affecting the IL-1 cascade and AP-1 transactivation in HaCaT cells. The results suggest that DMK might be useful as an anti-wrinkle ingredient.

주도적 사용자 참여, 실생활 상황의 실험 등이 핵심요소인 리빙랩은 과학기술 혁신과 혁신의 사회적 기여를 위한 수단으로 각광받고 있다. 최근에는 사회혁신이나 지속가능한 시스템 전환에까지 활용되는 등 질적 변화도 나타나고 있다. 그러나 리빙랩 접근에서는 동질성, 사용자 경험, 갈등, 사업화, 확산 등의 측면에서 상이한 요구 간 긴장으로 인한 패러독스가 나타날 수 있다. 리빙랩이 사회혁신과 지속가능한 시스템으로의 전환을 위한 유용한 도구로 활용되기 위해서는 이러한 패러독스를 이해하고 관리할 필요가 있다. 리빙랩은 특정 문제의 해결에는 매우 유용하지만 모든 문제의 해결책은 아니다. 여전히 이론적 논거와 경험적 성과가 부족한 리빙랩이 사회혁신의 수단으로서 성과를 거두기 위해서는 패러독스를 이해하고 관리하는 것이 필요하다.

To describe how to perform urological evaluation in children with tethered cord syndrome (TCS). Although a common manifestation of TCS is the development of neurogenic bladder in developing children, neurosurgeons often face difficulty in detecting urological problems in patients with TCS. From a urological perspective, diagnosis of TCS in developing children is further complicated due to the differentiation between neurogenic bladder dysfunctions and transient bladder dysfunctions owing to developmental problems. Due to the paucity of evidence regarding evaluation prior to and after untethering, I have shown the purpose and tools for evaluation in my own practice. This may be tailored to the types of neurogenic bladder, developmental status, and risks for deterioration. While the urodynamic study (UDS) is the gold standard test for understanding bladder function, it is not a panacea in revealing the nature of bladder dysfunction. In addition, clinicians should consider the influence of developmental processes on bladder function. Before untethering, UDS should reveal synergic urethral movement, which indicates an intact sacral reflex and lack of TCS. Postoperatively, the measurement of post-void residual urine volume is a key factor for the evaluation of spontaneous voiders. In case of elevation, fecal impaction, which is common in spinal dysraphism, should be addressed. In patients with clean intermittent catheterization, the frequency-volume chart should be monitored to assess the storage function of the bladder. Toilet training is an important sign of maturation, and its achievement should be monitored. Signs of bladder deterioration should be acknowledged, and follow-up schedule should be tailored to prevent upper urinary tract damage and also to determine an adequate timing for intervention. Neurosurgeons should be aware of urological problems related to TCS as well as urologists. Cooperation and regular discussion between the two disciplines could enhance the quality of patient care. Accumulation of experience will improve follow-up strategies.

본 연구의 목적은 디지털 환경에서의 과학기술분야 전문도서관 경쟁력 강화를 위한 경영전략수립에 있다. 정보통신기술의 발달로 인해 디지털도서관 정보서비스는 많이 발전했지만, 전문도서관의 경영환경(사서, 예산, 조직 등)은 더욱 어려워지고 있다. 이러한 현상의 원인 중 하나는 정보기술 만능주의에 가려진 경영전략의 부재에 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 문제점을 극복하기 위해 과학기술분야 전문도서관을 둘러싸고 있는 내 외적 환경변화를 알아보고, 경영전략수립 시 요구되는 단계 및 환경분석기법을 살펴보고자 한다. 최종적으로 과학기술분야 전문도서관의 미션과 비전을 제시하고, SWOT 분석기법으로 살펴본 전문도서관의 환경분석결과를 통해 구체적인 경영전략방안을 제시하고자 한다.

The fruit of Terminalia chebula Retzius has been used as a panacea in India and Southeast Asia but its biological activities have not been fully elucidated. Here we report anti-arthritic and analgesic effect of NDI10218, a standardized ethanol extract of Terminalia chebula, on collagen-induced arthritis and acetic acid-induced writhing model, respectively. Arthritis was induced in DBA/1J mice by immunizing bovine type II collagen and mice were treated with NDI10218 daily for 5 weeks after the onset of the disease. NDI10218 reduced the arthritis index and blocked the synovial hyperplasia in a dose-dependent manner. The serum levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, and IL-$1{\beta}$ were significantly reduced in mice treated with NDI10218. Production of the inflammatory IL-17, but not immunosuppressive IL-10, was also inhibited in splenocytes isolated from NDI10218-treated arthritis mice. Administration of NDI10218 markedly decreased the number of T cell subpopulations in the regional lymph nodes of the arthritis mice. Finally, NDI10218 reduced the number of abdominal contractions in acetic acid-induced writhing model, suggesting an analgesic effect of this extract. Taken together, these results suggest that NDI10218 can be a new therapeutic candidate for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Many attempts for the compfrt, esthetics and improvement of Masticatory function of the patients with removable prosthesis have been made for several decades. The search for the ideal denture occlusion has been going on in an effort to find the tooth form which provides maximum denture stability and masticatory efficiency without damaging the health of the underlying bone. For the purpose, the basic concept of lingualized occlusion were suggested by payne(1941) and pound(1973) discussed a similar occlusal concept and used term " lingualized occlusion." The purpose of this literature study is to clarify and amplify a method to achieve bilateral balanced occlusion with the occlusal arrangement termed " lingualized occlusion." Lingualized occlusion can be achieved by use of anatomic teeth for the mandibular denture. Lingualized occlusion can be used in most denture combination. It is particulary helpful when the patient places high priority on esthetics but a nonanatomic occlusal scheme is indicated by oral conditions such a severe alveolar resorption, a class II jaw relationship or displaceable supporting tissue. Advantages of lingualized occlusion are summarized as follows : 1) Most of the advantages attributed to both the anatomic and nonanatomic forms are retained. 2) Cusp form is more natural in appearance compare to nonanatomic tooth form. 3) Good pnetration of the food bolus is possible. 4) Bilateral mechanical balanced occlusion is readily obtained for a region around arotric relation. 5) Bertical forces are centralized on the mandibular teeth. Lingualized occlusion provides a useful combination of several occlusal concept. Many. advantages of anatomic and nonanatomic occlusions are accomplished but the lingualized occlusal concept is not is not a panacea, and all other procedures still must be carefully excuted.
