  • The three newly recognized species of the genus Plectiscidea are reported in this: Plectiscidea aquilonia Humala, 2003, Plectiscidea bistriata (Thomson, 1888), and Plectiscidea collaris(Gravenhorst, 1829). Among them, P. bistriata is recorded for the first time in the Eastern Palaearctic region and this genus is reported for the first time from South Korea. A key to species of this genus and and photographs of each species are provided.

  • The spider fauna in Anmyun-do Island was investigated from 20 th to 24 th Aug. 1999. As a result,94 species of 66 genera under 18 families were collected. Identified spiders were composed of Palaearctic (6%), Holarctic (7%), Oriental (0.8%), Cosmopolitan (0.8%) species. Araneid, salticid and theridiid spiders were dominant among the spiders. Common species with Japan and China were 93 (72%) and 90 (70%) species, respectively.

  • The genus Gonia (Diptera: Tachinidae) is revised for the Korean species. We recognize four previously known species (G. chinensis, G. divisa, G. foersteri, and G. klapperichi), three newly recorded species in Korea (G. distinguenda, G. olgae, and G. ussuriensis) and a species new to science (G. nigricoma Lee and Han, sp. nov.). We here provide a key, descriptions, photographs and illustrations. We also inferred the phylogenetic relationships of the representative Palaearctic species using cladistic method.

  • Pyrgotidae is a small acalyptrate family including about 370 species worldwide and little attention has been given to their systematics until recently. Latest changes in taxonomic status of some of the Korean species made this review inevitable. In the present study, the Korean pyrgotid species are reviewed with discussion of their taxonomic status. We also provide a revised key to all 14 Korean species (seven Adapsilia, three Eupyrgota, two Parageloemyia, one Porpomastix, and one Tephritopyrgota species) supplemented by digital images to facilitate accurate identification.

  • Previously, only one species belonging to the genus Apophua was recorded from South Korea by Kim (1955). Here, six additional species, A. cicatricosa, A. evanescens, A. honmai, A. stena, A. sugaharai and A. tobensis, are reported for the first time in South Korea. In this paper, we provide a key to the Eastern Palaearctic species of Apophua and diagnoses, as well as photographs of South Korean species.

  • We reviewed eight South Korean species of the genera Scambus Hartig, 1838 and Tromatobia $F{\ddot{o}}rster$, 1869. Among them, the Genus Scambus Hartig, 1838 is a moderately large group that includes 152 species worldwide. The South Korean genus Scambus Hartig, 1838 only includes one species, Scambus calobatus (Gravenhorst, 1829). The Tromatobia $F{\ddot{o}}rster$, 1869 group is a relatively small genus, including 33 worldwide species. This group is recorded for the first time from South Korea. Also, we report seven newly recorded species: Scambus nigricans (Thomson, 1877), Scambus vesicarius (Ratzeburg, 1844), Tromatobia flavistellata Uchida and Momoi, 1957, Tromatobia nipponica Uchida, 1928, Tromatobia ornata (Gravenhorst, 1829), Tromatobia ovivora (Boheman, 1821), and Tromatobia variabilis (Holmgren, 1856). A key to South Korean species of the genera Scambus Hartig, 1838 and Tromatobia $F{\ddot{o}}rster$, 1869, diagnoses and illustrations are provided.

  • The eight newly recognized species of the genera Delomerista, Iseropus, and Perithous are reported in this study: Delomerista kusuoi Uchida & Momoi, 1957, D. mandibularis(Gravenhorst, 1829), D. pfankuchi Brauns, 1905, Iseropus stercorator stercorator(Fabricius, 1793), Perithous albicinctus(Gravenhorst, 1829), P. septemcinctorius(Thunberg, 1822), P. speculator Haupt, 1954, and P. townesorum (Gupta, 1982). The genus Delomerista Förster, 1869 is a small group that includes 18 species worldwide that, for the first time, has been recorded from South Korea. Iseropus Förster, 1869 is a small group that includes nine species worldwide. The genus Perithous Holmgren, 1859 is also small group including 18 species worldwide. In this study, keys to species of these genera and illustrations and diagnoses of each species are provided.

  • We reviewed ten South Korean species of the genera Acrodactyla Haliday, 1838 and Acropimpla Townes, 1960. Only Acropimpla persimilis (Ashmead, 1906) has been distributed in South Korea, and Acrodactyla is recorded for the first time from South Korea. We report nine newly recorded species: Acrodactyla carinator (Aubert, 1965), Acrodactyla degener (Haliday, 1838), Acrodactyla lydia Kasparyan, 1979, Acrodactyla takewakii (Uchida, 1927), Acrodactyla varicarinata (Uchida and Momoi, 1958), Acropimpla aspera Gupta and Tikar, 1976, Acropimpla didyma (Gravenhorst, 1829), Acropimpla nakula Gupta and Tikar, 1976 and Acropimpla pictipes (Gravenhorst, 1829). Keys to South Korean species of the genera Acrodactyla and Acropimpla, diagnoses and illustrations are provided.

  • One of the largest genera of subfamily Ophioninae, Ophion, has been reported 144 species in the World. Nevertheless, recorded members of genus Ophion are 40 species in the Eastern Palaearctic region, 8 in South Korea (O. ainoicus, O. choaspese, O. flavopictus, O. fuscomaculatus, O. luteus luteus, O. obscuratus obscuratus, O. okunii, O. takaozanus). In this paper, a taxonomic list of genus Ophion from South Korea is provided for the first time. Two newly recorded species, Ophion hokkaidonis Uchida and Ophion nikkonis Uchida, are reported from South Korea. A key to these South Korean species, diagnoses of the two newly recorded species and digital images are provided.

  • Hypsicera has been reported six species from South Korea. In this study, we reviewed 13 species of South Korean Hypsicera including seven newly recorded species from South Korea. Female of H. brevicornis and H. nigribasis are reported for the first time from South Korea since first record. Additionally, H. incarinata and H. yoshimoboi are reported new to China. We provide diagnoses of six newly recorded species and descriptions of two new females. We also provide photographs of key characters of seven newly recorded species and a key to 13 species of South Korean Hypsicera.
