This paper presents the design of a broadcasting scenario and system for an 8K-resolution content. Due to an 8K content is four times larger than the 4K content in terms of size, many technologies such as content acquisition, video coding, and transmission are required to deal with it. Therefore, high-quality video and audio for 8K (ultra-high definition television) service is not possible to be transmitted only using the current terrestrial broadcasting system. The proposed broadcasting system divides the 8K content into four 4K contents by area, and each area is hierarchically encoded by Scalable High-efficiency Video Coding (SHVC) into three layers: L0, L1, and L2. Every part of the 8K video content divided into areas and hierarchy is independently treated. These parts are transmitted over heterogeneous networks such as digital broadcasting and broadband networks after going through several processes of generating signal messages, encapsulation, and packetization based on MPEG media transport. We propose three methods of generating streams at the sending entity to merge the divided streams into the original content at the receiving entity. First, we design the composition information, which defines the presentation structure for displays. Second, a descriptor for content synchronization is included in the signal message. Finally, we define the rules for generating "packet_id" among the packet header fields and design the transmission scheduler to acquire the divided streams quickly. We implement the 8K broadcasting system by adapting the proposed methods and show that the 8K-resolution contents are stably received and serviced with a low delay.

In an Ad-hoc network, a method of time synchronizing all the nodes in a network centering on one reference node can be used. A representative algorithm based on a reference node is Flooding Time Synchronization Protocol (FTSP). In the process of sending and receiving messages, predictable and unpredictable delays occur, which should be removed because it hinders accurate time synchronization. In multi-hop communications, hop delays occur when a packet traverses a number of hops. These hop delays significantly degrade the synchronization performance among nodes. Therefore, we need to find a method to reduce these hop delays and increase synchronization performance. In the FTSP scheme, hop delays can be greatly increased depending on the position of a reference node. In addition, in FTSP, a node with the smallest node ID is elected as a reference node, hence, the position of a reference node is actually arbitrarily determined. In this paper, we propose an optimal reference node election algorithm to reduce hop delays, and compare the performance of the proposed scheme with FTSP using the network simulator OPNET. In addition, we verify that the proposed scheme has an improved synchronization performance, which is robust to topology changes.

본 논문에서 제안하는 EOMM(Efficient Overlay Multicast for Multi-layer)은 오버레이 멀티캐스트를 다중 계층 구조 기반 Cluster에서 적용하였다.
Snort is an open source network intrusion prevention and detection system (IDS/IPS) developed by Sourcefire. Combining the benefits of signature, protocol and anomaly-based inspection, Snort is the most widely deployed IDS/IPS technology worldwide. With millions of downloads and approximately 300,000 registered users. Snort identifies network indicators by inspecting network packets in transmission. A process on a host's machine usually generates these network indicators. This means whatever the snort signature matches the packet, that same signature must be in memory for some period (possibly micro seconds) of time. Finally, investigate some security issues that you should consider when running a Snort system. Paper coverage includes: How an IDS Works, Where Snort fits, Snort system requirements, Exploring Snort's features, Using Snort on your network, Snort and your network architecture, security considerations with snort under digital forensic windows environment.

Designing efficient routing protocols for a wireless sensor network with mobile sinks (mWSN) is a challenging task since the network topology and data paths change frequently as sink nodes move. In this paper, we design a novel lightweight reactive ring based routing protocol called R3, which removes the need of proactively maintaining data paths to mobile sinks as they move in the network. To achieve high packet delivery ratio and low transmission cost, R3 combines ring based forwarding and trail based forwarding together. To support efficient ring based forwarding, we build a ring based structure for a network in a way such that each node in the network can easily obtain its ring ID and virtual angle information. For this purpose, we artificially create a virtual hole in the central area of the network and accordingly find a shortest cycled path enclosing the hole, which serves as base ring and is used for generating the remaining ring based structure. We accordingly present the detailed design description for R3, which only requires each node to keep very limited routing information. We derive the communication overhead by ring based forwarding. Extensive simulation results show that R3 can achieve high routing performance as compared with existing work.
Network virtualization is a technique that abstracts the physical network to provide multiple virtual networks to users. Virtualized network has the advantage to offer flexible services and improve resource utilization. In SDN architecture, network hypervisor serves to virtualize the network through address virtualization, topology virtualization and policy virtualization. Among them, address virtualization refers to the technique that provides an independent address space for each virtual network. Previous work divided the physical address space, and assigned an individual division to each virtual network. Each virtual address is then mapped one-to-one to a physical address. However, this approach requires a lot of flow entries, thus making it disadvantageous. Since SDN switches use TCAM (Ternary Contents Addressable Memory) for the flow table, it is very important to reduce the number of flow entries in the aspect of cost and scalability. In this paper, we propose a LISP based address virtualization, which separates address spaces for the physical and virtual addresses and transmits packet through tunneling, in order to resolve the limitation of the previous studies. By implementing a prototype, we show that the proposed scheme provides better scalability.

This paper evaluates the performance of three types of data delivery mechanisms in clustered sensor networks, as a basic research to develop an energy efficient topology management scheme. In the first mechanism, one node per cluster(clusterhead) turns on its radio(or wakes up) to transmit and receive RTS/CTS/DATA/ACK messages, but in the second one, k nodes per cluster wake up and participate in the message exchange. In the last mechanism, clusterheads turn on the radio to exchange RTS/CTS messages, and if a clusterhead receives RTS containing its cluster m as a destination, it makes k nodes in the cluster hun on the radio to receive DATA and transmit ACK. Through simulation, we show the energy consumption of the three types of data delivery mechanisms as functions of the number of active nodes per cluster, offered load, and packet loss probability.
This paper proposed that an MPLS-based VPN using next-generation If switches and appropriate set of traffic engineering algorithms is the best way to implement QoS-capable IP VPNs. While ATM-based solution would not rely scalable the number of connections becomes too large, MPLS-based VPNs’ efficiency could be confirmed network delay time through performance evaluation. And we evaluated the performance about the If VPN based on proposed MPLS, at the result of evaluation. We figured out that delay increased more slowly in case of VPN based on MPLS comparing with the VPN based on ATM which has rapid delay increasement. Therefore we confirm that the VPN based on MPLS has high speed of packet processing and high degree of network efficiency through the performance evaluation.
An IP address is used as a host identifier and a locator to bind hosts and applications to their location in existing Internet. Several protocols are proposed to eliminate this binding. Most of these protocols use IPv6-based host identifiers to maintain compatibility with existing Internet, but these identifiers cannot be handled by standard IPv6 routers because such identifiers are unroutable. Therefore, host identifiers need to be usually converted to locators at hosts, and the standard IPv6 protocol should be modified to interoperate with these protocols. In this paper, we propose a network-based host identifier locator separating scheme in software-defined networking. The proposed scheme separates the underlying network into Host Identity and IP domains in order to directly forward unroutable identifiers. The Host Identity domain operates as an overlaid network over IP domain, and it makes the unroutable identifiers to be routable using distributed hash table based routing strategy. For the evaluation, we compared the proposed scheme with the previous scheme using signaling costs and packet delivery costs. The result shows that the proposed scheme is more suitable in the recent mobile-based environments.
