  • The blister packaging is applied to many fields in recent years for its merit that it enable consumer to see the products. The most of battery packaging are blister type. However, the lithium battery is dealt with very carefully in packaging because of its explosion. The existing packaging machines lot lithium battery are mostly adapted alkaline packaging machine and their capacity is very inferior to other process, either. In this paper, the virtual prototype of the automatic blister packaging system for lithium battery which has new mechanism is developed and its performance is evaluated.

  • Up to now 5 Voith Sulzer paper machines with multi-layer headbox and Gapfor-mer are sucessfully running on papckaging papers. Linerboard, testliner and corugating medium is produced in the basis weight range from 105 to 275 $g/m^2$ at machine speeds up to 900 m/min. The nest one, starting up in Oct. `96 in Germany, will be the world's fastest paper machine for packaging papers. The 5.6 m wide machine is designed for a maximum operating speed of 1200 m/min. Approx. 220.000 tons of corrugating medium and testliner based on 100% waste paper in the basis weight range from 90 to 160 $g/m^2$ will be produced each year. An expansion stage planned for the future is intended to increase annual output to 280.000 tons. This machine will not only be the fastest one for packaging papers, it also comprises all described innovative key components which are available today in order to fulfill growing demands of the future with regard to quality and productivity. The concept of this advanced machine is shown in Fig. 9.

  • Moisture loss of fresh fruits and vegetables is a main cause of deterioration. It resulted not only in the direct quantitative loss, but also in change in appearance, texture and nutrition. To reduce the loss of moisture content during the distribution in the market, fresh products are packaged using plastic films. But, most of the fresh products are packaged manually in Korea. In order to minimize the labor requirement, the packaging machine for fruits and vegetables was developed and tested. Prototype was composed of film feeding unit, bag former, products feeding conveyor, film feeding roller, center sealer, end sealer and discharge conveyor. Green peppers, carrots and perilla leaves were tested with prototype. Prototype could pack 1780, 1390, 1780 bags per hour at the feeding speed of 0.08m/s respectively and 2250, 1810, 2640bags per hour at the feeding speed of 0.10m/s respectively. And packaging speed of green peppers and carrots was improved by 3.7 and 3.4 times compared with manual packaging. The packaging condition with the prototype was good and the products had almost no damages.
