A Study on 16-Channel LED Driver IC for Full-Color LED Display (풀 컬러 LED 디스플레이용 16-채널 LED 드라이버 IC에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes the 16-channel LED Driver IC for Full color LED display system. The proposed LED driver IC in this paper can draw current independent of temperature and supply voltage in each channel. Current flow in the channel is configurable via an external resistor. LED brightness is adjusted by 12-Bit PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) and 8-Bit DC(Dot Correction). A real-time monitoring of IC temperature ($130^{\circ}C/150^{\circ}C$) and LED status (open/short) is provided by LED driver IC and the user can receive warning and get information on problems. A 16-channel LED driver IC is produced using 0.35 um BCD process and the size is $2.5mm{\times}2.5mm$. In this paper, channel current characteristic and channel current control function were measured in order to verify am embodied 16-channel LED driver IC by producing a single IC test board.

  • In this paper, driver circuit of LED lights for ships is designed and implemented to replace conventional lights with filament which have short life time due to vibration of ships. The driver of LED module is switching circuit without transformer to reduce volume and cost. As switch circuit controls input 220 VAC with PWM, LED module is reliably driven. Power factor is improved by using valley-fill PFC compensation circuit which is handled to pulse current of switching circuit. Serial-parallel LED circuit is applied to reduce change period of lights of long-term navigation ships. Array of serial-parallel can operate even if some of LEDs is damaged. It is suitable for ships that power consumption and power factor of lights including developed drive circuit have 39Watt and 0.925 respectively.

  • In case when the existing TRIAC phase controlled dimmer is drove for the LED lighting equipments, there are many problems such as the LED flicker in low phase-angles, the acoustic noise and elements damage by increase of the peak voltage in the input filter capacitor, mulfunction by insufficiency of the TRIAC holding current, and the abnormal oscillation by LC resonant. In this paper, we proposes the single-stage quasi-resonant PSR(Primary Side Regulation) PWM converter, and the design, the simulation and experiment are performed. As a result, it could confirm that the proposed PWM converter is the lighting equipments for LED drive which can alternate the existing 60W class incandescent bulbs and it has the high drive performance of the efficiency 80% and over, the power factor 0.95 and over under the normal voltage 220V. Finally, total harmonic distortion(THD) is gratified with a standard[1] of the lighting equipments and the durability is evaluated as the high reliablilty of 150,000 hours and over.

  • This paper presents a study on the DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controller for the PBW(power-by-wire) system using BLDC(Brushless Direct Current) servo motor pump. The PBW hydraulic actuator was realized with hydraulic pump driven by BLDC servo motor, hydraulic cylinder and controller. This PBW system needs speed control of servo motor for linear thrust action of hydraulic cylinder. This paper implements a servo controller with vector control algorithm and MIN-MAX PWM technique. As CPU of a controller, TMS320F2812 DSP was adopted because it has PWM waveform generator, A/D converter, SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) port and many input/output port etc.

  • This paper proposes the pulse width modulation (PWM) control strategy for low-speed operation in the three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverters based on the bootstrap gate drive circuit. As a purpose of the cost reduction, several papers have paid attention to the bootstrap circuit applied to the three-level NPC inverter. However, the bootstrap gate driver IC cannot generate the gate signal to the IGBT for low-speed operation, because the bootstrap capacitor voltage decreases under the threshold level. For low-speed operation, the dipolar and partial-dipolar modulations can be the effective solution. However, these modulations have drawbacks in terms of the switching loss and THD. Therefore, this paper proposes the PWM control strategy to operate the inverter at low-speed and to minimize the switching loss and harmonics. The experimental results are presented to verify the validity on the proposed method.

  • Full direct digital control of induction motor driver is implemented with a minimal hardware structure. This paper deals with the presentation of a low-cost single-chip microprocessor-based control system for three-phase PWM generation and vector control that control speed of the induction motor using the field-oriented control method. Rotor flux is estimated using the indirect sensing method based on the rotor circuit equation in the synchronously rotation reference frame, and slip angle and rotor position are calculated from rotor angular velocity and stator current. Through simulation and experiment, it is shown that the proposed scheme gives good static and dynamic performance to the induction motor drive.

  • This paper suggests a high-speed control method which is suitable for multi-joint robots using a real-time stand-alone controller for general-purpose. The fast processing controller consists of a PCI Interface Board and 2-axe PWM drivers. The PCI Interface Board consists of 32-channel PWM output ports, 32-channel Encoder Counters, 32-channel A/D Converters and 48-channel Digital I/O ports, and all the I/O data transmissions are completed within 1ms. And The 2-axe PWM driver can be redesigned easily in order to embed in each link. Experimental implementations show that the high-speed control method can be used for the real-time control which is essential to controlling of multi-body robots such as humanoid robots. Especially, it is efficient for realizing the model-based motion control in demand of much calculation time by the high I/O communication speed.

  • In this paper, a controller design for brushless linear motor is proposed. The designed controller is mainly composed of speed and current controller, which are carried out by the high-speed digital signal processor(DSP). In addition the PWM inverter is controlled by space voltage PWM method. This system is implemented using by 32-bit DSP(TMS320C31), a high-integrated logic device(EPM7128), and IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for compact and powerful system design. The experimental results show the effective performance of controller for the brushless linear motor.

  • In this study, a new PWM method considering the actuation delay of high speed solenoid valves is proposed to improve the response characteristics of electro hydraulic servo systems controlled by high speed solenoid valves. In addition, the decision method for the system gain, the basic period of PWM, and the sampling time is proposed, Since the conventional system controlled by high speed solenoid valves is too slow to apply this method, a high speed driving circuit(Quick-Drive) which enables rapid switching of the high speed solenoid valve at a high speed sampling mode is applied to realize this method. The experimental result shows that it is possible to achieve precision and quiet control without occurrence of limit cycle and wide range dead band.

  • This paper aims to compose a new LED lighting control board in the LED lighting environment This LED lighting control board is designed to adjust the brightness of LED lighting depending on the change of surrounding brightness, and it is also designed to control the brightness by using ATmega128, which is an 8bit micro-controller, The PWM wave form likely to output into the LED driver is determined by the ADC value input through ADC.
