Operation Mode Development and Evaluation for Grid-Tied PMSG Wind Power System Combined with Battery Energy Storage (배터리 에너지저장이 결합된 계통연계 풍력발전시스템의 운전모드 개발 및 평가)

  • This paper describes the operation mode development for the grid-tied PMSG(permanent magnet synchronous generator) wind power system combined with a battery energy storage. The development of operation modes was carried out through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software and experiments with a 10kW hardware prototype. The detailed simulation models for PMSG wind power system and battery energy storage were developed using user-defined models programed with C-code. A 10kW hardware simulator was built and tested in connection with the local load and the utility power. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the grid-tied PMSG wind power system combined with battery energy storage can supply highly reliable power to the local load in various operation modes.

Power Control Methods for Microgrid with Multiple Distributed Generators (다중 분산전원으로 구성된 마이크로그리드의 유무효전력 제어원리 연구)

  • Microgrids are new distribution level power networks that consist of various electronically-interlaced generators and sensitive loads. The important control object of Microgrids is to supply reliable and high-quality power even during the faults or loss of mains(islanding) cases. This paper presents power control methods to coordinate multiple distributed generators(DGs) against abnormal cases such as islanding and load power variations. Using speed-droop and voltage-droop characteristics, multiple distributed generators can share the load power based on locally measured signals without any communications between them. This paper adopts the droop controllers for multiple DG control and improved them by considering the generation speed of distribution level generators. Dynamic response of the proposed control scheme has been investigated under severe operation cases such as islanding and abrupt load changes through PSCAD/EMTDC simulations.

  • In recent years, the research and development for the photovoltaic(PV) energy system are making rapidly progress around the world and specially this country, too due the deregulation law for the renewable energy system seems to be born sooner or later. If we can study PV generation system regardless of weather condition, we will study much more efficiently. This paper introduces the algorithm of PV power generation system simulator and the results of simulation by using PSCAD/EMTDC. In next paper, authors will prove the algorithm of PV simulator proposed in this paper by making real simulator and getting the result of experiment.

  • In the PV power system, output of the PV array must contain inherent ripples due to the single-phase inverter. So, the function of maximum power point tracking to increase the output efficiency of PV system is degraded. Therefore, to overcome this problem, this paper presents a control strategy for the reducing ripples of the PV array output in grid-connected photovoltaic power system. The proposed control system consists of two loops; the maximum power point tracking loop using the perturbation and observation method is used to calculate the reference solar array terminal voltage(Vref) for reducing ripples of the PV array output and the PI control loop is used to regulate the solar array output voltage according to the Vref. The performance of proposing control strategy is analyzed by means of the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation and experiment. As a result, we may obtain the high performance of the proposed control strategy.

  • This paper proposes a new configuration of 36-pulse voltage source converter which consists of two 6-pulse bridges and a pulse-interleaving auxiliary circuit. The system topology of proposed converter was derived to increase the pulse number of converter output voltage without increasing the number of 6-pulse bridges. The gate pulse generation was analyzed using the theoretical approach of multi-pulse switching converter. The operational feasibility of proposed system was verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/TMTDC software and experimental works with 3kVA hardware prototype. The proposed converter can be widely used for the uninterruptible power supply, the power quality compensator, and the distributed power generation, such as solar and fuel fell power system.

  • In this paper, control algorithm for torque ripple compensation in DFIG wind power generation system is proposed. A simple PI controller is designed for the negative sequence voltage cancellation using negative sequence currents in the grid-side converter. As a result, the stator voltage contains only the positive sequence components and the torque pulsation of the generator is effectively compensated. Propose algorithm is confirmed with PSCAD simulation model.

  • 대용량 유도전동기가 정지상태에서 기동할때 매우 큰 돌입전류에 의해 Voltage Sag를 유발하게 되며 유도전동기에 걸리는 기계적 토크보다 큰 전기적 토크가 가해지지 않으면 유도전동기는 기동에 실패하게 된다. 따라서 대용량 유도전동기의 기동을 위해서는 Voltage Sag를 줄이고 전동기의 가속에 필요한 기동토크를 인가할 수 있는 기동법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 유도전동기의 기동특성을 모의할 수 있는 모델링 기법을 제안하고 시뮬레이션에 의한 기동특성을 모의하여 적절한 기동법을 적용한다. 본 논문에서 사용한 대상 유도전동기는 한국수자원공사 취수장에서 운영하는 2500KVA 대용량 유도전동기를 사용하였으며 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어를 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

  • This paper presents an effective modeling scheme of SPE cell system for hydrogen production. PSCAD/EMTDC model of SPE cell system for hydrogen production to efficiently utilize Solar cell energy which produces effectively hydrogen energy is showed in this paper. The simulated results are then verified by comparing them with the actual values obtained from the data acquisition system. Authors are sure that it is a useful method to the researchers who study SPE cell system for hydrogen production.

  • 전력시스템의 규모는 날로 증가하고 부하조건 역시 매우 다양해져 많은 수의 전력변환 장치가 사용되고 있으며, 변환장치에 사용되는 비선형성 전력반도체 소자의 사용은 고조파의 발생을 가져온다. 또한 대규모 부하의 초기기동에 의한 전압강하(Voltage Sag)가 일어나게 되어 전력시스템에 좋지 않은 영향을 주게 되며 고조파와 함께 전력의 품질저하 또는 기계적 오작동 등을 가져다 준다. 본 논문에서는 이런 전압, 전류의 전력품질 저하를 보상하기 위해 Active Filter를 적용한 예를 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 이용하여 시스템 해석을 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 직 병렬 동시적용 Active Filter의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper an integrated model of PV-AF (Photovoltaic-Active Filter) and PV-SPE(Photovoltaic Solid Polymer Electrolyte) system using PSCAD/EMTDC were explained in detaiil. The main concept of PV-AF system starts from the 'harmonics'. In order to deliver power to utility, PV system essentially needs a converter system. Here PV-AF system adds the function of active filter to the converter system installed in PV system, which was introduced already in several papers. PV-SPE system has been studied as a replacement of existing hydrogen production technology that emits large amount of carbon dioxide into atmosphere. Until now, these two systems, PV-AF and PV-SPE, have been considered separately However, in this paper, characteristics and advantages of combined system are discussed in detail.
