In this paper, in order to analyze the performance of a decoy system for ship defense against an anti-ship missile(ASM) with an infrared image(IIR) seeker, the modeling and engagement simulation program is introduced. The IIR seeker on the ASM detects the infrared signal of ship from a distance and approaches the ship based on proportional navigation guidance(PNG) or impact angle control guidance(IACG). Hence the guidance performance of the ASM is basically depend on the target tracking algorithm of the seeker as well as the infrared signal of the ship. Using the developed program, we can investigate the effect of the ship decoy system such as flares and surface cooling system of the ship with respect to various kinds of tracking algorithms of the IIR seeker of the ASM.

A missile with a strapdown seeker should properly estimate line-of-sight(LOS) rate using its attitude information and the look angle of the seeker because LOS rate information in an inertial coordinate system, which is used for a proportional navigation(PN) homing guidance, can not be obtained directly. However, an unnecessary feedback loop(Parasite Loop) is formed in the guidance and control loop, and it may cause the guidance performance degradation or even the unstability of the system(Parasite Effect). This paper presents estimation methods for the LOS rate information and effective ways to minimize the parasite effect using Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion. Various numerical simulations are also included to verify the proposed methods.
It is proposed to raise the debate on Engineering and Technical Education at the global economic level and to examine some of the issues facing developing and poorer countries in managing and improving the quality of engineering education in their countries, especially in the context of internet and IT culture After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the world is now divided in two realigned blocks: one of developed(rich or advanced) countries which have a social security safety net for their population and another of developing(or poor) countries which have no such luxuries for their population. For the general public in the developing countries, any engineering or technical degree/diploma is a passport to lifelong wellbeing of an individual and his/her extended family. Therefore, the demand for such qualifications is very high and it is almost a rat race amongst school leavers to get into engineering/technical colleges. In view of this booming demand, there are hundreds of privately funded engineering/technical colleges in countries like Philippines, India, Thailand, etc., besides state funded ones. It is extremely difficult to ensure good quality in this mushrooming scenario. There are also many very small poorly resourced developing countries where there is only one engineering school and/or two-three technical colleges. Products of these schools/colleges work only in their own country and education globalization have little or no meaning for them. Besides highlighting the aforementioned general issues, the Paper also presents a few case studies on problems of accreditation and quality assessment in larger developing countries like India and the Philippines. The Paper also discusses the effects of commercialization on the quality of education and social impacts of IT revolution on educational processes.
In an "NTFS Index Record Data Hiding" method messages are hidden by using file names. Windows NTFS file naming convention has some forbidden ASCII characters for a file name. When inputting Hangul with the Roman alphabet, if the forbidden characters for the file name and binary data are used, the codes are convert to a designated unicode point to avoid a file creation error due to unsuitable characters. In this paper, the problem of a file creation error due to non-admittable characters for the file name is fixed, which is used in the index record data hiding method. Using Hangul with Roman alphabet the characters cause a file creation error are converted to an arbitrary unicode point except Hangul and Roman alphabet area. When it comes to binary data, all 256 codes are converted to designated unicode area except an extended unicode(surrogate pairs) and ASCII code area. The results of the two cases, i.e. the Hangul with Roman alphabet case and the binary case, show the applicability of the proposed method.

In this paper, we propose a time varying biased proportional navigation guidance law that controls the impact angle under Field-of-View(FOV) and the acceleration limit of the missile. The proposed law is composed of three stages in consideration of the FOV limitation. Since the bias directly affects the acceleration at each stage, the final bias value of the previous stage becomes the initial bias value of the next stage when the stage is switched. In addition, the impact angles were controlled by judging whether impact angles were reached in consideration of engagement conditions and physical constraints.

There is enough precipitation and sunshine in Lae, Papua New Guinea. pH in soil of yam field averaged 6.4, that is suitable for yam growing. However, a great variation in pH was found from 3.7 to 6.4 in different locations around Lae. EC in the soil was 0.18 mS/cm that has shown short of soil nutrition but ORP was 393mV, allowing to be ideal for yam cultivation. Thoughtful management for soil fertility including supply of organic 1matters is needed for the sustainable organic yam production in Lae region, PNG.
Lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) which contributes more than 80% to totally lung cancer cases, remains the leading cause of cancer death and the 5-year survival is less than 20%. Continuous understanding on the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of this disease and identification of biomarkers for therapeutic application and response to treatment will help to improve patient survival. Here we found that a molecule known as DUSP10 (also known as MAPK phosphatase 5) is oncogenic in NSCLC. Overexpression of DUSP10 in NSCLC cells resulted in reduced activation of ERK and JNK, but increased activation of p38, which was associated with increased cellular growth and migration. When inoculated in immunodeficient mice, the DUSP10-overexpression NSCLC cells formed larger tumors compared to control cells. The increased growth of DUSP10-overexpression NSCLC cells was associated with increased expression of tumor-promoting cytokines including IL-6 and TGFβ. Importantly, higher DUSP10 expression was associated with poorer prognosis of NSCLC patients. Therefore, DUSP10 could severe as a biomarker for NSCLC prognosis and could be a target for development of therapeutic method for lung cancer treatment.
Natural gas has been regarded as one of major alternative fuels, because of the increment of mining shale gas and supplying PNG(Pipeline Natural Gas) from Russia. Thus, it needs to broaden the usage of natural gas as the increasing its supplement. In this situation, application of natural gas on the transport area is a good suggestion to reduce exhaust emissions such as CO2(carbon dioxides) and soot from vehicles. For this reason, natural gas can be applied to SI(spark ignition) engines due to its anti-knocking and low auto-ignitibility characteristics. Recently, since turbocharged SI engine has been widely used, it needs to apply natural gas on the turbocharged SI engine. However, there is a major challenge for using natural gas on turbocharged SI engine, because it is hard to make natural gas direct injection in the cylinder, while gasoline is possible. As a result, there is a loss of fresh air when natural gas is injected by MPI (multi-point injection) method under the same intake pressure with gasoline-fueled condition. It brings the power reduction. Therefore, in this research, intake pressure was increased by controling the turbocharger system under natural gas-fueled condition to improve power output. The goal of improved power is the same level with that of gasoline-fueled condition under the maximum torque condition of each engine speed. As a result, the maximum power levels, which are the same with those of gasoline-fueled conditions, with improved brake thermal efficiency could be achieved for each engine speed (from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm) by increasing intake pressure 5-27 % compared to those of gasoline-fueled conditions.

Google Earth enables people to easily find information linked to geographical locations. Google Earth consists of a collection of zoomable satellite images laid over a 3-D Earth model and any geographically referenced information can be uploaded to the Web and then downloaded directly into Google Earth. This can be achieved by encoding in Google's open file format, KML (Keyhole Markup Language), where it is visible as a new layer superimposed on the satellite images. We used KML to create and share fine resolution gridded temperature data projected to 3 climatological normal years between 2011-2100 to visualize the site-specific warming and the resultant earlier blooming of spring flowers over the Korean Peninsula. Gridded temperature and phonology data were initially prepared in ArcGIS GRID format and converted to image files (.png), which can be loaded as new layers on Google Earth. We used a high resolution LCD monitor with a 2,560 by 1,600 resolution driven by a dual link DVI card to facilitate visual effects during the demonstration.
Yeast pheromone a-factor is a 13-amino acid peptide hormone that is synthesized as a part of a larger precursor, prepro-$\alpha$-factor, consisting of a signal peptide and a proregion of 64 amino acids. The carboxy-terminal half of the precursor contains four tandem copies of mature $\alpha$-factor. To investigate the molecular basis of intracellular sorting, proteolytic processing, and storage of the peptide hormone, yeast prepro-$\alpha$-factor precursors were heterologously expressed in rat pituitary $GH_3 cells. When cells harboring the precursor were metabolically labeled, a species of approximately 27 kD appeared inside the cells. Digestion with peptide: N-glycosidase F (PNG-F) shifted the molecular mass to a 19 kD, suggesting that the 27 kD protein was the glycosylated form as in yeast cells. The nascent polypeptide is efficiently targeted to the ER in the $GH_3 cells, where it undergoes cleavage of its signal peptide and core glycosylation to generate glycosylated pro-a-factor. To look at the post ER intracellular processing, the pulse-labelled cells were chased up to 2 hrs. The nascent propeptides disappeared from the cells at a half life of 30 min and only 10-25% of the newly synthesized, unprocessed precursors were stored intracellularly after the 2 h chase. However, about 20% of the pulse-labeled pro-$\alpha$-factor precursors were secreted into the medium in the pro-hormone form. With increasing chase time, the intracellular level of propeptide decreased, but the amount of secreted propeptide could not account for the disappearance of intracellular propeptide completely. This disappearance was insensitive to lysosomotropic agents, but was inhibited at $16^{circ}C or 20^{\circ}C$, suggesting that the turnover of the precursors was not occurring in the secretory pathway to trans Golgi network (TGN) or dependent on acidic compartments. From these results, it is concluded that a pan of these heterologous precursors may be processed at its paired dibasic sites by prohormone processing enzymes located in TGN/secretpry vesicles producing small peptides, and that the residual unprocessed precursors may be secreted into the medium rather than degraded intracellularly.
