IEFT proposed MIPv6 for supporting IP movement. Mobile Node is involved signaling that cause handover latency in MIPv6. Recently, Proxy Mobile IPv6 is proposed by IETF for network-based mobility management to reduce overhead in mobile node still suffers from packet loss. PMIPv6 can decrease handover latency which related overhead in MN by using network agent. Therefore, MIPSHOP Working Group proposed fast handover for PMIPv6, fu this paper, we proposed packet bicasting scheme on dual interface mobile node that can support fast handover using PMIPv6 schemes. Further, a numerical analysis is provided to show the benefits of our scheme. In the analysis, various parameters are used to compare our scheme with another procedure.
In the existing literature, the handover process reveals numerous problems manifested by high movement detection latency. FMIPv6 can reduce packet loss using a tunnel-based handover mechanism. However, this mechanism may cause performance degradation due to the out-of-sequence packets. Recently. Proxy Mobile IPv6 is proposed for network-based mobility management to reduce overhead in mobile node. PMIPv6 can decrease handover latency which related overhead in MN by using network agent. In this paper, we proposed optimized fast handover scheme called Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 (EF-PMIPv6). The proposed EF-PMIPv6 can support fast handover using fast IAPP and ND schemes. Further, a mathematical analysis is provided to show the benefits of our scheme. In the analysis, various parameters are used to compare our scheme with the current procedures, while our approach focuses on the reduction of handover latency.

In this paper, we propose a new mobility management scheme, called i-FP(intelligent Fast PMIPv6). Our proposed i-FP scheme is addressed for solving the existing local mobility management problems from legacy frameworks. To move MN(Mobile Node) to other networks in one domain, i-FP employs three network entities which are extended from PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6), LMA(Local Mobility Anchor), MAG(Mobile Access Gateway) and MN. In i-FP, the three network entities can reduce the handover delay time of MNs. Also, i-FP uses an IP header swapping mechanism to avoid the traffic overhead and improve the throughput of network. To evaluate the performance of i-FP, we analyze our i-FP, HMIPv6(Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) and PMIPv6 which are legacy protocols of local mobility management in terms of various parameters. Finally, our i-FP scheme shows good performance(reduction of routing hops 10.2%, signaling costs 58.5% and handover delay 16.3%) than other network schemes for the total cost.
Our proposed mobility management scheme is based on Multicasting and HIP(Host Identity Protocol) in PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) Networks, and allows users to handoff within and across different administrative domains. The main advantage of our scheme is to enable the inter-domain handoff of both types of nodes with a reduced signalling overhead and packet losses. Specifically, the scheme enables the interworking between host-based and network-based mobility support, by means of the interaction between PMIPv6 with Multicasting and HIP. Performance evaluations demonstrate that our scheme improves the handoff latency and packet losses compared to other global mobility management protocols.
Recently, with the popularity of smartphones, an interest in multi-networking service through wireless multi-interface of a mobile node is increased. Also, wireless networking technology for using wireless multi-interface has been studied. As the related work, in the IETF Netext WG, the extension of PMIPv6 protocol for multi-interface support is being discussed. Existing PMIPv6 protocol includes the functions for simultaneous access over multi-interfaces of a mobile node and inter-technology handover between multi-interfaces of the mobile node. However, in case of the existing protocol, the problem occurs when inter-technology handover is performed after simultaneous access on the PMIPv6 domain, this problem is the discontinuous of simultaneous connections. Therefore, the PMIPv6 Protocol cannot support flow based multi-homing service. In this paper, as a way to solve the problem, Hybrid Home Network Prefix scheme is proposed.
Unlike host-based IPv6 mobility support protocols such as Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6), and Fast handover for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6), Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is expected to accelerate the real deployment of IPv6 mobility support protocol by using only collaborative operations between the network entities without mobile node (MN) being involved. In this paper, we analyze and compare the handover latency of network-based IPv6 mobility support protocol (i.e., PMIPv6) with the representative host-based IPv6 mobility support protocols such as MIPv6, HMIPv6, and FMIPv6. Analytical results show that the handover latency of PMIPv6 is considerably lower than those of MIPv6 and HMIPv6, and the handover latency of PMIPv6 becomes lower than that of FMIPv6 in case the wireless link delay is greater than the delay between mobile access gateway (MAG) and local mobility anchor (LMA).
The current centralized mobility control protocols such as proxy mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) are dependent on a central mobility anchor to process all control/data traffic. However, such centralized mobility control protocols have some drawbacks such as traffic concentration into the core network and serious service degradation in case of the failure of such a centralized mobility anchor, etc. In this paper, therefore, in order to alleviate these drawbacks, we propose a PMIPv6-based distributed mobility control scheme considering a user's movement locality. Performance evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has apparent potentials to alleviate serious drawbacks of S-PMIP, which is a closely-related distributed mobility control scheme, as well as PMIPv6, while reducing the total mobility control cost.

Mobile traffic is increasing a masse because of the propagation of the Internet and the development of wireless mobile technology. Accordingly, the Network Local Mobility Management (NETLMM) working group [1] of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) [2] as a protocol for accomplishing the transmissibility of mobile terminals. PMIPv6 is a network-led IP-based mobility management protocol, which can control terminal mobility without depending on the type of access system or the capability of the terminal. By combining PMIPv6 and the mobility of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), we can establish terminal mobility and session mobility through a more effective route. The mobility function can be improved and the overlap of function reduced as compared to that in the case of independent operation. PMIPv6 is appropriate for a non-real-time service using TCP, and SIP is appropriate for a real-time service using RTP/UDP. Thus, in the case of a terminal using both services, an effective mobility management is possible only by using PMIPv6 together with SIP. In order to manage mobility in this manner, researches on PMIPv6-SIP are in progress. In line with this trend, this paper suggests a new PMIPv6-SIP architecture where when a mobile terminal conducts a handover, a network-led handover while maintaining the session without the addition of a special function or middleware is possible along with effective performance evaluation through mathematical modeling by comparing the delay and the packet loss that occur during the handover to the Pure-SIP.
