The characteristic of the dielectric relaxation in silicone rubbers were studied in the frequency range of $1{\times}10^2{\sim}3{\times}10^6Hz$ at the temperature range of $30^{\circ}{\sim}170^{\circ}C$. As the results of the study, it has been confirmed that the silicone rubber containing the cross-linking agants of 2,5-bis(tert-butylperoxy)-2, 5-dimethyl hexane exhibit the dissipation spectra of two kind(${\alpha},\;{\beta}$ dissipation) due to the siloxane and methyl groups. Particularly, the maximum value of dielectric loss spectra of silicone rubber combinning the cross-linking agents of 0.7phr to 1.0phr are on the increasing in high frequency region, but the specimen of above 1.0phr become smaller again. The energy and the entropy of activation on the molicular motion obtained 18.32 kcal/mole and $1.48ca1/mole{\cdot}deg$ in measuring condition respectively.
Candida albicans has become the most important human pathogen in immunocompromised patients. One important feature of the pathogenicity in C. albicans is the morphological transition from yeast to hyphae. Previously, we reported that lysophosphatidylcholine (Lyso-PC) suppressed the hyphal transition through the MAP kinase pathway (Min et al., 2001). Therefore, it should be useful to examine the unknown genes involved in the MAP kinase pathway. As a way to identify target genes of Lyso-PC in hyphal suppression, this present study exploited two-dimensional electrophoresis. It was revealed that Lyso-PC suppressed expression of Phr1p and Pra1p, surface proteins involved in the morphogenesis.
The properties of the mixed prepolymer-urethane in the range of 10-40 phr were observed. LBR and LCR have same functional group but different in structure of molecular. The viscosity of mixture depending on content of rubber, adhesive strength, thermal property and compatibility with a diluted solvent are as follows: 1. The viscosity of the mixture was influenced by solubility of the diluent for urethane resin and liquid rubber. 2. Adhesive strength showed the highest value at 30phr rubber, decreased gradually at above 30phr rubber. And LBR revealed better physical property than that of LCR. 3. The most effective factors affecting adhesive strength are molecular structure of rubber, the type of solvent, and volatility. 4. Urethane resin containing LBR showed better compatibility for solvent and faster drying velocity. 5. LBR showed more favorable compatibility and dispersion state than those of LCR by analyzing the results of SEM.
The vulcanization characteristics, physical and electrical properties have been measured for magnetite-loaded CM compounds containing various concentration of magnetite. Samples of the various concentration of magnetite are characterized by oscillating disk rheometer, mooney viscometer, tensometer and resistance meter. The morphology and dispersion of magnetite are analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results obtained are as follows : 1. The CM compound without magnetite shows plain curve, while the CM compounds containing magnetite show short curves. 2. The maximum volume of magnetite is 600 phr in the CM compounds. The magnetite of 30 to 150 phr of magnetite act as reinforcement agents and the 50 phr magnetite shows maximum tensile strength. 3. The electric conductivity is mostly influenced by the conditions of temperature, compacting pressure, and magnetite orientation. Further efforts should be made to develop a new design in various electric conductivity fillers for the most efficient and applicable rubber products.
To reduce the weight of the engineering plastic Nylon 6 resin, two high-temperature foaming agents, p-toluenesulfonyl semicarbazide (PTSS) and 5-phenyltetrazole (5-PT) (0-10 phr), were added and foamed without other additives. We investigated the effects of the foaming agent type and content on the foam density (g/cm3) and percent weight reduction rate of the Nylon 6 foam, and 5-PT exhibited better foaming performance than PTSS. In the case of 5-PT, the weight reduction rate was above 36% when the blowing agent content was 1.5 phr or higher, indicating that 5-PT is an effective blowing agent for reducing the Nylon 6 foam weight. Additionally, we studied the effect of the nucleating agent Talc content (0-0.4 phr) on Nylon 6 foaming, and the nucleating agent Talc considerably reduced foaming.
We have studied the blending effects of cis-1,4-polybutadiene (CBR) and styrene-tutadiene rubber at various blending ratios of 100 : 0, 70 30, 50 : 50, 30 : 70, 0 : 100, and of carbon black ISAF and HAP at various compounding ratios of 45 PHR, 55 PHR, 65 PHR, for tyre tread rubber. The results obtained are summerized as follows; 1. For tyre tread rubber, it was found to increased efficiency to use SBR polymer only than to use the blending ratio CB/SBR=30/70 below. But it was observed that the latter was adapted for the bus or truck tyre and the former for the passenger tyre. 2. Excellent efficiency was obtained in case of carbon black compounding ratio of 55%, and also the compounding of ISAF made better efficiency than that of HAF. 3. Carbon black was more efficient to SBR than to CB. 4. For the aging ratio, the compounding rubber of NR was the highest, and the ratio was decreased in order of the compounding rubber of oil-extended SBR or CB polymer only, the compounding rubber of non oil-extended SBR or CB polymer only, and the blending rubber.
In this study, solvent based polyurethane (PU) adhesives were prepared with the hydrocarbon resin and the acrylic modified hydrocarbon resin contents. The solvent based PU adhesive were increased with increasing tackifier concentration. The surface state of films showed good compatibility with increasing the PX-95 concentration but A-1100 series didn't present homogeneous phase more than 10 phr. Mechanical strength and peel strength were maximum at 5 phr tackifier concentration especially PX-95 series in solvent based PU adhesive.
Maleic anhydride (MA) modified ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (MEPDM) was pre-pared from solution polymerization. MEPDM-g-PST copolymer was prepared by melt polymerization of male ate d EPDM and quaternary ammonium silyl polydimethylsiloxane -7,7,8,8- tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) adduct (PST) in internal mixer and MEPDM-g-PST/HDPE/CB (MPEC) was prepared by com-pounding HDPE, MEPDM-g-PST copolymer and carbon black (CB, 5, 10, 15, and 20 phr), and HDPE/ CB (PEC) by compounding HDPE and CB (5, 10, 15, and 20 phr), respectively. The structure of MEPDM-g-PST copolymer was confirmed by measuring the FTIR. The maximum grafting ratio of MA onto EPDM was 2.35%. The thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were measured and dispersion characteristics of CB in matrix show that CB in MPEC was better dispersed than that in PEC composite.
In order to analyze the effect of maleic anhydride (MAH) content and styrene monomer (SM)/MAH mole ratio on reactive extrusion of maleic anhydride grafted random polypropylenes (MAH-g-rPP), MAH-g-rPPs were prepared by using a twin screw extruder. MAH contents were 0.5, 1.0, 3.0, and 5.0 phr and SM/initiator mole ratio was 0.0, 1.0, and 2.0. Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) was used as an initiator. The graft degree of MAH was confirmed by the existence of carbonyl group (C = O) stretching peak at $1700cm^{-1}$ from FT-IR spectrum. The degree of graft reaction increased up to 3.0 phr MAH and showed the optimum value at 1.0 SM/MAH mole ratio from the area ratio of C = O and C-H stretching peak. Thermal and crystallization properties of MAH-g-rPP and PP/MAH-g-rPP/pulp composites were investigated by DSC, TGA, XRD, and POM. There was a decrease in non-isothermal crystallization temperature of PP/MAH-g-PP/pulp composites. Based on tensile properties and SEM pictures for the fractured surface of PP/MAH-g-PP/pulp composites, MAH content of 1.0 wt% and SM/MAH mole ratio of 1.0 were the optimum formulation as the compatibilizer. The rheological properties of the composites were measured by dynamic Rheometer to compare the processability of the composites with and without compatibilizer. The power law index showed slightly low value at the composites with compatibilizer.

In this work, the effect of PMR-15 content on the variation of surface free energy of the DGEBA/PMR-15 blend system was investigated in terms of contact angles and mechanical interfacial tests. Based on FT-IR result of the blend system. C=O (1,772, $1,778cm^{-1}$) and C-N ($1,372cm^{-1}$) peaks appeared with imidization of PMR-15 and -OH ($3,500cm^{-1}$) peak showed broadly at 10 phr of PMR-15 by ring-opening of epoxy. Contact angle measurements were performed by using deionized water and diiodomethane as testing liquids. As a result, the surface free energy of the blends gave a maximum value at 10 phr of PMR-15, due to the significant increasing of specific component. The mechanical interfacial properties measured from the critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$) and the critical strain energy release rate ($G_{IC}$) showed a similar behavior with the results of surface energetics. This behavior was probably attributed to The improving of the interfacial adhesion between intermolecules, resulting from increasing the hydrogen bondings of the blends.
