Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) patients have a characteristic of high leuteinizing hormone (LH) to follicle -stimulating hormone (FSH) ratio. Usually, human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) is used to induce ovulation in clomiphene citrate-resistant PCOS patients. However, HMG contains two components, namely, LH and FSH, with 50%, respectively. Therefore, FSH is theoretically recommended to stimulate follicular maturation. From the pituitary, LH is secreted by pulsatile pattern. So, we have been using intermittent subcutaneous injection of pure FSH for ovulation induction in 10 PCOS patients from March, 1990 to August, 1992. We obtained good results by intermittent subcutaneous injection of pure FSH. Ovulation is 100% per patient, and 88.2% per cycle. Pregnancy rate is 80% per patient, and 23.5% per cycle. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is 50% per patient, 41.2% per all cycles, and 46.7% per all ovulated cycles. In comparison with HMG, pregnancy rate per cycle is relatively low. But, ovulation rate and pregnacy rate per person is higher than HMG. Because of the strict check of ovaries by the vaginal ultrasonography, OHSS rate is relatively high.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify incidence of nonfatal unintentional injuries (accidents) among students, and to investigate compensation payment for five years (2000~2004) in schools located in Seoul. Methods: Subjects were 14,783 students injured among elementary, middle and high school students. The accumulated data for 5 years (2000~2004) was from the Seoul School Safety and Insurance Association. Chi-square, ttest, logistic regression, and MANCOVA were conducted. Results: The most frequent accidents occurred among males (73.2%), and in special school students (3.86 per 1,000) followed by middle school students (3.05 per 1,000), in May (0.25 per 1,000) followed by June and October, in physical education classes (0.73 per 1,000) followed by special activities (0.40 per 1,000), recess (0.31 per 1,000) and lunch (0.29 per 1,000). Fractures (0.86 per 1,000) were followed by mild injuries (0.39 per 1,000), joint and ligament injuries (0.31 per 1,000), and teeth injuries (0.26 per 1,000). After adjusting for potential confounding variables, the highest means of final compensation payment was for burns (810 thousand KRW) followed by the teeth injuries (506 thousand KRW), cleaning injuries (550 thousand KRW) followed by injuries incurred during special activities (510 thousand KRW) and injuries incurred at special schools (556 thousand KRW). Conclusion: In school, the highest incidences of nonfatal unintentional injuries were in special schools, among males, fractures and physical education. However, the highest compensation payments were for burns, and injuries taking place at special schools and during cleaning hour. Proper health education including teaching healthy habits for safety/injury prevention is needed to prevent injuries and decrease compensation.
The experiment was conducted to get basic information for cotton breeding program through four-variety diallel cross population. Additive, dominant, maternal, and reciprocal effect were observed significantly for days to maturity. Based on the Vr-Wr graphical analysis, the characters, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, width of seed, 100-seed weight, days to flowering, and days to maturity were found to inherit incomplete dominance, and the characters of number of bolls per plant, width of seed, number of seeds per boll, and length of seed were assumed to inherit over dominance. The component of genetic variance analysis for boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, number of seeds per boll, length of seed, and days to flowering showed that additive effects were higher than dominant effects. The narrow-sense heritability(h$_2$N) for boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, days to flowering, and days to maturity showed high values as more than 43.19%. The estimate of broad-sense heritability(h$_2$B) value was higher than that of h$_2$N because of the low importance of dominance effects.
In this study, Calculated the nonpoint sources(NPS) load per unit area about various rainy events in vineyard of Nakdong River basin. NPS monitoring and calculation for NPS load per unit area were estimated from 'Investigation method of precipitation discharge(National Institute of Environmental Research, 2007)'. The evaluation of applicability for NPS load per unit by compared with prior research data and Total Maximum Daily Load(TMDL) data. Five target areas were each $2000m^2$, $1800m^2$, $1943m^2$, $2484m^2$, $864m^2$ and located in Gyeongsangbukdo Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbukdo Sangju, Gyeongsangnamdo Hapcheon in Korea. Since fruits were the only crop on the target area, the characteristics of stormwater discharge at survey sites could be evaluated independently. A total of 115 rainfall events in the Orchard area during five years(2008-2012) was surveyed, and 38 of them became stormwater discharge. In the Nakdong River watershed, average of event mean concentrations(EMCs) in Orchard area for biochemical oxyzen demand(BOD), Chemical oxyzen demand(COD), total nitrogen(T-N), total phosphorus(T-P) were 2.0mg/L, 10.1mg/L, 3.195mg/L, 0.578mg/L, respectively. NPS load per unit area in Orchard area showed BOD : $2.0kg/km^2{\cdot}day$, COD : $10.2kg/km^2{\cdot}day$, T-N : $3.220kg/km^2{\cdot}day$, T-P : $0.606kg/km^2{\cdot}day$.

This study was conducted to analyze 15 traditional Korean gruels for nutrient density using the Index of Nutrient Quality (INQ). The calorie of the gruels ranged from 148.8 (Daechujuk) to 294.1 kcal (Jatjuk) per serving size. The calorie in 'Jatjuk' was the highest, covering 33.3% of Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRI) per meal. The carbohydrate content was between 23.0 g (Dakjuk) and 52.1 g (Patjuk) per serving size. The average content of carbohydrate in gruels was $34.7{\pm}9.1\;g per serving size which covers 24.4% of KDRI per meal. Among the 15 gruels, Patjuk contained the highest carbohydrate content (52.1 g per serving size, 36.7% of KDRI per meal). The highest nutrient density (INQ) of carbohydrate in gruels was Dachujuk (INQ 1.4). The protein content of the gruels was between 2.3 (Huinjuk) and 22.3 g (Dakjuk) per serving size. The average content of protein in gruels was 25.6% of KDRI per meal. Dakjuk contained the highest protein content ($8.2{\pm}4.9\;g$ per serving size) and followed by Dakjuk (INQ 2.5), Guljuk (INQ 1.5) and Kongjuk (INQ 1.3) in nutrient density (INQ) of protein. The fat content of the gruels were between 0.3 (Daechujuk) and 17.8 g (Jatjuk) per serving size. The average content of fat in gruels was $17.8{\pm}0.12\;g$ per serving size which showed 21.1% of KDRI per meal. Among the gruels, Jatjuk contained the highest fat ($17.8{\pm}0.12\;g$ per serving size, 77.4% of KDRI per meal). In order of the high nutrient density (INQ) of protein, Jatjuk (INQ 2.4) was followed by Heugimjajuk (INQ 1.5) and Kongjuk (INQ 1.5).
This study was conducted to investigate genetic characteristics of 25 Pleurotus eringii strains that have been released in Korea based on cultural, morphological features and PCR fingerprints. Strains PER-007 and PER-012 showed distinct cultural characteristics in growth rate, morphological characteristics of mycelial colony and fruiting bodies when compared to those of other strains. Strain PER-007 did not form primordium initiation in sawdust medium and PER-012 also showed different phenotypes on fruiting bodies. Eleven URP primers were used to detect PCR polymophic bands in P. eringii strains. Primers URP1F, URP2R, URP2F, URP4R, URP6R, URP9F and URP17R were selected as useful primers for amplifying PCR polymorphic bands in P. eringii strains. The genetic similarity index was calculated by using PCR polymorphic bands amplified by eight URP primers among the 25 strains. The P. eringii strains were grouped by four distinct clusters on the UPGMA analysis. The genetic similarity values ranged from 100% to 76% were observed in three major groups, suggesting close genetic relatedness of them. Exceptionally, PER-007 and PER-017 were involved in outgroup.
Background One-per-mil tumescent solution, which contains 0.2% lidocaine with 1:1,000,000 epinephrine, has been reported to be clinically effective for hand surgery under local anesthesia. However, it was lacking in its basic pharmacokinetics profile in regard to the onset of action (OOA) and duration of action (DOA). Methods A randomized, double-blind study was conducted on 12 volunteers who met the inclusion criteria from October to November 2014. All volunteers had their right and left ring finger pulps injected with either one-per-mil solution or 2% lidocaine. Semmes-Weinstein and two-point discrimination tests were used to test sensation. Visual analogue scale was recorded at the time when the finger lost its sensation and when it regained normal sensation to measure the OOA and DOA. The data were then analyzed with a paired t-test and a Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results The OOA and DOA of 2% plain lidocaine were 1 minute and 99.67 minutes, respectively. Meanwhile, 0.2% lidocaine in a one-per-mil tumescent solution showed an OOA of 5 minutes and a DOA of 186.83 minutes. The OOA of 0.2% lidocaine in a one-per-mil tumescent solution is statistically shorter than 2% plain lidocaine (P=0.04); while its DOA is statistically longer than 2% plain lidocaine (P<0.001). Conclusions The 0.2% lidocaine in a one-per-mil tumescent solution is statistically and clinically superior to 2% plain lidocaine in achieving longer duration of local anesthesia.
Three factors affecting cigarette weight, tobacco shreds length(cut width 0.9mm), moisture content and filling grower were studied for domestic brands. The results were obtained as follows. 1. When the moisture contents war법 changed by one per cent consecutively. filling power of tobacco shreds and cigarette weight were changed by 3.9 - 7.9 per cent for the former and by 5.7 - 7.6 per cent for the later. The longer the length of tobacco, shreds, the wider are the changing radios, and vice versa. 2. At constant moisture content (12 %), filling Power and cigarette weight were varied by 3.8- 22.8 per cent and by 2.9-29.4 per cent respectively due to the fluctuation of tobacco shreds length, The range of this variation was increased by reducing moisture content , and was decreased by increasing the moisture content. 3. The higher the blending ratio of shreds longer than 2 mm, the lower are the cigarette weights. 4. The operation standard weight of domestic brands was found 1- 9 per cent higher compared with the observed optimal cigarette weight in this study.
In this study effects of isolation distance, transplanting time of maternal plants, and bagging of flower head with the gauze-cloth bag on the outcrossing of burley tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) were investigated. Also the effect of fertilizer level and control of the number of capsules per plant on seed production and quality were examined. A male sterile line. produced 0.3 to 3.8 capsules Per plant when it was Planted with normally flowering tobacco with the average outcrossing of 7.2 plants, ranging from 2 to 18 out of 20 plants. With the farther the isolation distance between maternal plants and pollen donor plant, the lower the outcrossing occurred. Outcrossing occurred even at the isolation distance of 312 m. When the maternal plants were transplanted 35 days after transplanting the pollen donor ones, the outcrossed plants were not decreased significantly. The bagging of the flower head with the gauze-cloth bas (#0.9∼ 1.0 mm) decreased the outcrossed plants significantly, but couldn't prevent the outcrossing completely. The seed amount per plant was higher in the highly fertilized cultivation. The number of seed capsules per plant affected significantly on seed yield and quality. When the seed capsules was controlled by 30 or 50 capsules per plant, the weight of 1,000 seeds and germination rate were higher than those with 70 or 90 capsules per plant. Key words : Nicotiana tabacum, outcrossing, bagging.
