AMESet 기반 20 kW급 수소 연료전지 시스템 동특성 모델 해석 (Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics of 20 kW Hydrogen Fuel Cell System Based on AMESet)

  • In proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), proper thermal management of the stack and moisture generation by electrochemical reactions significantly affect fuel cell performance. In this study, the PEMFC dynamic characteristic model was developed through Simcenter AMESim, a development program. In addition, the developed model aims to understand the thermal resin balance of the stack and performance characteristics for input loads. The developed model applies the thermal management model of the stack and the moisture content and permeability model to simulate voltage loss and stack thermal behavior precisely. This study extended the C based AMESet (adaptive modeling environment submodeling tool) to simulate electrochemical reactions inside the stack. Fuel cell model of AMESet was liberalized with AMESim and then integrated with the balance of plant (BOP) model and analyzed. And It is intended to be used in component design through BOP analysis. The resistance loss of the stack and thermal behavior characteristics were predicted, and the impact of stack performance and efficiency was evaluated.

  • PEM(proton exchange membrane) fuel cell have been receiving considerable interest as power source because of high-energy efficiency. However by using reforming hydrogen gas, CO poisoning occur in anode. To improve CO tolerance PtRu catalysts were prepared by galvanostatic pulse electrodeposition. The composition(atomic ratio) of catalysts are controllable by using different concentrations of PtRu solutions. Also, the particle sizes of PtRu on carbon are similar to about $3.5{\sim}4nm$ regardless of concentration.

  • A 1.2KW Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC) stack(Nexa Power Module) is installed to motor driven general scooter. The 24V, 650W BLDC motor is used for actuator and 2nd battery(24V, 4Ah) is used for stable starting of this motor. The operating information of Nexa Power Nodule is transmitted by RS-232 serial communication to notebook PC, and that data is analysed and displayed by the LabVIEW monitoring system.

Carbon Corrosion at Pt/C Interface in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Environment

  • This study examined the carbon corrosion at Pt/C interface in proton exchange membrane fuel cell environment. The Pt nano particles were electrodeposited on carbon substrate, and then the corrosion behavior of the carbon electrode was examined. The carbon electrodes with Pt nano electrodeposits exhibited the higher oxidation rate and lower oxidation overpotential compared with that of the electrode without Pt. This phenomenon was more active at $75^{\circ}C$ than $25^{\circ}C$. In addition, the current transients and the corresponding power spectral density (PSD) of the carbon electrodes with Pt nano electrodeposits were much higher than those of the electrode without Pt. The carbon corrosion at Pt/C interface was highly accelerated by Pt nano electrodeposits. Furthermore, the polarization and power density curves of PEMFC showed degradation in the performance due to a deterioration of cathode catalyst material and Pt dissolution.

유로형상 및 운전조건에 따른 고분자 전해질 연료전지의 성능 특성 (Performance Characteristics of PEMFC by flow Configurations and Operating Condition)

  • For proton exchange membrane fuel cell, it is very important to design the flow channel on separation plate optimally to maximize the current density at same electrochemical reaction surface and reduce the concentration polarization occurred at high current density. In this paper, three dimensional computation model including anode and cathode domain together was developed to examine effects of flow patterns and operation conditions such as humidity and operating temperature on performance of fuel cell. Results show that voltage at counter flow condition is higher than that at coflow condition in parallel and interdigitated flow pattern. And fuel cell with interdigitated flow pattern which has better mass transport by convection flow through gas diffusion layer has higher performance than with parallel flow pattern but its pressure drop is increased such that the trade off between performance and pressure drop should be considered for selection of flow pattern of fuel cell.

밀폐된 공간 내 공랭식 PEMFC의 자연대류 열전달에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Natural Convection Heat Transfer of Air-cooling PEMFC in a Enclosure)

  • This study presents an experiment investigation on natural convection heat transfer of air-cooling Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) in a enclosure system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Considered are replacing fuel cell stack with Aluminum block for heat generating inside a enclosure chamber. The volume ratio of fuel cell stack and chamber for simulation to the actual size of aerial vehicle is 1 to 15. The parameters considered for experimental study are the environmental temperature range from $25^{\circ}C$ to $-60^{\circ}C$ and the block heat input of 10 W, 20 W and 30 W. Effect of the thermal conductivity of the block and power level on heat transfer in the chamber are investigated. Experimental results illustrate the temperature rise at various locations inside the chamber as dependent upon heat input of fuel cell stack and environmental temperature. From the results, dimensionless correlation in natural convection was proposed with Nusselt number and Rayleigh number for designing air-cooling PEMFC powered high altitude long endurance (HALE) UAV.

고분자전해질 연료전지용 바이폴라 플레이트의 다층 코팅의 증착 (Multi-layered Coating Deposited on PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) Bipolar Plates)

  • The surface region of commercial stainless steel 304 and 316 plates has been modified through deposition of the multi-layered coatings composed of titanium film ($0.1{\mu}m$) and gold film ($1-2{\mu}m$) by an electron beam evaporation method. XRD patterns of the stainless steel plates deposited with conductive metal films showed the peaks of the external gold film and the stainless steel substrate. Surface microstructural morphologies of the stainless steel bipolar plates modified with multi-layered coatings were observed by AFM and FE-SEM images. The stainless steel plates modified with $0.1{\mu}m$ titanium film and $1{\mu}m$ gold film showed microstructure of grains of under 100 nm diameter. The external surface of the stainless steel plates deposited with $0.1{\mu}m$ titanium film and $2{\mu}m$ gold film represented somewhat grain growth of Au grains in FE-SEM image. The electrical resistance and water contact angle of the stainless steel bipolar plates modified with multi-layered coatings were examined with the thickness of the gold film.

  • 화석연료의 무분별한 사용에 따라 이산화탄소 배출 등 환경오염의 문제가 대두되면서, 전 세계적으로 신 재생에너지 및 친환경 에너지에 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 연료전지는 전기에너지를 발생시키며 부산물로써 물만을 생성하는 친환경 에너지 발전 장치이다. 특히, 음이온 교환막을 이용한 알칼리 연료전지(Anion Exchange Membrane Alkaline Fuel Cell, AEMAFC)는 수소이온 교환막을 이용한 연료전지(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell, PEMFC)에 비해 보다 높은 촉매의 활성으로 인해 저가의 금속 촉매의 사용이 가능하다는 장점이 있다. 이러한 AEMAFC에서 요구되는 AEM의 특성으로는 연료전지가 작동하는 높은 pH 조건에서 높은 이온전도도 뿐만 아니라 화학적 안정성이다. 본 연구에서는 화학적 안정성을 극대화 시키기 위하여 poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) 고분자에 spacer-type의 전도기를 도입함과 동시에 가교법을 이용하여 높은 이온전도도($80^{\circ}C$, $67.9mScm^{-1}$)와 기계적 성질(영률 : 0.53 GPa) 뿐만 아니라 높은 pH 조건에서 화학적 안정성($80^{\circ}C$, 1000 h, 6.8% loss of IEC)을 갖는 AEMAFC용 고분자 전해질 막으로써의 가능성을 제시하였다.

  • PEMFC(proton exchange membrane fuel cell) is most applicable to automobile in various types of fuel cell. However, to improve system dynamics and logn term Performance fuel cell is supported by auxiliary power unit forming hybrid system. The operating strategy of hybrid system influences on efficiency and stability. In this paper the proper strategies are compared each other considering power distribution and stable system operation. The chosen strategy is simulated by MATLAB simulink to forecast realization of fuel cell hybrid vehicle
