Design of a Potable Electronic Nose System using PDA (PDA를 이용한 휴대용 Electronic Nose 시스템 개발)

  • We have designed a portable electronic nose (e-nose) system using an array of commercial gas sensors and personal digital assistants (PDA) for the recognition and analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the field. Field screening of pollutants has been a target of instrumental development during the past years. A portable e-nose system was advantageous to localize the special extent of a pollution or to find pollutants source. The employment of PDA improved the user-interface and data transfer by Internet from on-site to remote computer. We adapted the Lavenberg-Marquardt algorithm based on the back-propagation and proposed the method that could predict the concentration levels of VOC gases after classification by separating neural network into two parts.

  • Self management of chronic asthma is of great importance, since the disease could lead the patient into an emergent situation. In the present study, we describe design and implementation of a personal digital assistant(PDA) based asthma management system for personal application including symptom and medication to prevent from the potential exac-erbation of the disease. The software program was written by the Visual C++ tool in the mobile computing environment and Object Store was applied for data management. User friendly GUI environment was provided for the patient to input his/her daily condition and self treatment such as medication for suc-cessful management. The input screen design substituted for keyboard input to a mouse in order to easy to select an item and minimize the keyboard input. The implementation results of this system., Real-time data collection and process were possible and be able to have been carried effectively out a continuous symptom, a medication of asthma patients, risk management.

  • 모델링$\cdot$시뮬레이션 또는 첨단 센서 장비 기술의 발전으로 최근에 매우 높은 해상도를 갖는 방대한 크기의 볼륨 데이터들이 생성되고 있으며, 이러한 데이터를 효과적으로 가시화하기 위한 다양한 연구 결과들이 과학적 가시화 분야에서 발표되고 있다. 지금까지 연구된 대부분의 가시화 소프트웨어들은 워크스테이션과 PC를 기반으로 개발되었으며, 모바일 환경에서 가시화를 수행하는 소프트웨어는 아직까지 발표된 바가 없다. 본 논문에서는 PDA상에서 구현된 클라이언트와 대용량$\cdot$고성능 서버를 이용한 모바일 볼륨 가시화 시스템의 설계에 관해 설명한다. 이 시스템은 자세한 관찰이 필요한 특정 영역을 점진적으로 높은 해상도로 관찰할 수 있는 기능을 지원하여, 설정한 파라미터를 이용한 고화질 볼륨 가시화 영상의 렌더링을 요청하는 기능을 제공한다.

  • 무선 인터넷이 보급됨에 따라 개인 휴대용 단말 장치(PDA)와 같은 모바일 PC를 이용하여 실시간으로 Server에 접속, 의료정보 및 환자 정보 등을 볼 수 있다. 여기서 PDA는 작은 몸체로 이동성 및 편리성 등이 PC보다 뛰어나지만, 처리 속도가 상대적으로 느리기 때문에 해상도가 큰 이미지, 높은 처리 속도를 요구하는 작업 등을 처리하기에는 효율성이 낮은 문제점이 있다. 또한 정보를 Display할 수 있는 액정이 매우 작아서 환자와 관련된 의료 영상 즉, MRI 사진이나 X-ray 사진 등을 자세히 보기에는 현재의 기술력으로는 매우 어렵다. 특히 다수의 PDA와 PC 클라이언트의 데이터 요청으로 인한 서버의 과부하 문제 또한 모바일 진료시스템의 발전에 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 처리 속도와 Display의 제한을 대처하기 위하여 모바일 다중처리 시스템과 작업 이양 시스템을 구성하기 위한 하나의 방법론을 제안한다.

  • 인터넷의 급속한 발달로 사용자는 자신의 질의에 적합한 검색결과를 빠르고 정확하게 보장하는 검색도구를 요구하게 되었다. 이러한 사용자의 요구는 검색도구의 성능향상에 필수적인 문서의 내용을 대표하는 색인어를 추출하는 색인 시스템에 대한 관심을 가지게 되었다. 기존의 한국어에서의 자동 색인 방법에는 어절 중심 색인법, 형태소 중심 색인법과 최근에 n-gram 중심 색인법 등이 주류를 이루어 왔다. 그러나 한국어에서 색인어를 추출하는 기존의 방법은 복합명사의 색인과 복잡한 문법적 지식이 필요하고 잘못된 색인어를 추출하는 등의 검색효율에 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PDA를 이용한 정형화된 한국어와 영어문장의 자동 색인 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 별도의 사전지식이 필요하지 않고 단일 명사와 복합명사의 색인이 가능하며 인터넷으로의 확장과 다양한 언어로 확장성이 좋은 장점 등을 갖는다. 성능 평가로써 한국통신의 KTSET으로 MS사의 IIS를 웹 서버로 ASP를 이용하여 인터넷 환경에서 테스트를 통하여 한국어 뿐 아니라 영어문장의 정형화되고 이용이 간편한 자동색인 결과를 보여준다.

  • This paper proposes the system model that is more efficient and active than formal home automation system and it can conquer the limits of formal one using intelligent mobile robot. This system uses specialized intelligent mobile robot for home environment and the robot moves around home instead of human. We call the system model to HAuPIRS (Home Automation system using PDA based Intelligent Robot System). HAuPIRS control architecture is composed three parts and each part is User Level, Cognitive Level, Executive Level. It is easy to use system and possible to extend the home apparatusfrom new technology. We made the PBMoRo System (PDA Based Mobile Robot System) based on HAuPIRS architecture and verified the efficiency of the system model.

  • Due to fast development of digital equipments, various information techniques have been applied to the tunneling and a decision aid system based on IT has also been used during excavation stage. A PDA based informative tunneling method is, therefore, studied in this paper and the decision aids for tunneling using digital face mapping data as well as geologic information in terms of digital data is developed. For this, wireless network, mobile computer, CDMA and digital camera have been combined to generate the digital map of the tunnel face and reinforcement or excavation pattern can be estimated based on digitalized geologic conditions. Future studies will be concentrated on the enhancement of the PDA S/W so that reinforcement method as well as the amount of reinforcements can also be stored in the same DB. Furthermore, field application of the S/W will be undertaken and a virtual reality technique will also be introduced to visualize all the tunneling work on the computer monitor.

  • In the prior works on tabletop systems, a projection-based tabletop surface is mostly used to display computer images, and the participants interact with the display surface by hand multi-touching or using some tangible objects. In this research, however, we developed the FishBowl game that employs a scalable tabletop tiled display with infrared camera tracking coupled with PDA mobile interfaces. The focus of this game is to enhance user interactivity and realistic experience by coupling the high-resolution tabletop virtual environment and PDA mobile interface. This paper describes the game design followed by the system design and its detailed implementations. It also discusses the system usability and recommendation for its improvements after interviewing game players and then concludes with future research directions.

  • PACS(Picture archiving communication system) is a system that enables medical images such as X -ray, CT, MRI, PET to be stored electronically viewed on computer screens so that doctors and other authorized people can access search the information as needed. But if they are not in hospital area for example on holiday or at night, that are not able to access the PACS system instantly. We have to solve this problem for more efficient patient care. So we try to suggest a method that use the PDA system that wireless LAN and CDMA cellular phone are equipped. This system may help to access easier to PACS system regardless of the location and can also attribute the development of telemedicne.
