  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Biotite V supplementation on growth performance, nutrients digestibility and blood constituents and to evaluate whether Biotite V could replace an antibiotics in growing pigs diet. One hundred twenty pigs with initial body weight of 18.35${\pm}$0.15 kg were used in a 28 days growth trial. Pigs were allotted to four treatments by sex and body weight in a randomized complete block design. There were six replicate pens per treatment and five pigs per pen. Four dietary treatments were: 1) NC (basal diet without antibiotics), 2) PC (basal diet+0.1% CTC), 3) NCBV (NC diet+0.5% 200 mesh Biotite V) and 4) PCBV (PC diet+0.5% 200 mesh Biotite V). Through the entire experimental period, ADG tented to increase in NCBV and PCBV treatments compared to NC and PC treatments respectively, but no significant differences were observed (p>0.05). ADFI was slightly lower in NCBV and PCBV treatments than that in NC and PC treatments without significant differences (p>0.05). Gain/feed in PC and PCBV treatments was improved significantly compared to NC treatment (p<0.05). N and Ca digestibilities were higher in PCBV treatments than those in PC treatment (p<0.05). DM and P digestibilities were not affected by the addition of Biotite V (p>0.05). RBC, HCT, Hb, lymphocyte and monocyte were increased numerically in NCBV and PCBV treatments compared to NC and PC treatments (p>0.05). WBC was lower in treatment groups than that in NC treatment, but no significant differences were observed (p>0.05). In conclusion, dietary supplementation of Biotite V can better the gain/feed and some of the nutrients digestibilities in growing pigs. It has a possibility to replace antibiotics in swine diet.

  • Most of NC machines are operated by Is06983 standard called G-code, which was developed in the early days of machine tools. This G-code limits hardware performance of the currently developed high-performance hardware & machine tools. By describing only movements of tool, almost all of information of previous production departments is lost, and the machining department cannot exchange information with other departments. For adjusting new hardware environment and direct communication of CNC machines with CAD/CAM software, ISO 14649, STEP -NC is researched. This new standard stores CAD/CAM information as well as operation commands of CNC machines. In this research, the new CNC machine operated by STEP-NC was built and tested. Unlike other STEP-NC milling machines, this system uses the STEP-NC file in form of XML as data input. It makes possible for STEP-NC machines to exchange information to other databases using XML. The mentioned system of this paper loads the XML file, analyzes it, makes tool paths of two5D features with information of STEP-NC, and machines automatically without making G-code. All of software is programmed with Visual C++, and the milling machine is made with table milling machine, step motors, and motion control board for PC that can be directly controlled by C++ commands. All modules of software and hardware were independent, it allows convenient for substitution and expansion of the milling machine. The example 1 in ISP14649-11 that had all information about geometry and machining and the example 2 that has only geometry and tool information were used to test automatic machining by the open-architecture milling machine.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary herbal plant mixture on growth performance, blood immunological parameters, fecal VFA and NH3-N concentrations in growing pigs. The dietary treatments were 1) NC (negative control; antibiotics-free diet), 2) PC (positive control; NC diet added 0.16% antibiotic), 3) NCK0.2 (NC diet added 0.2% herbal plant mixture (koppuul??)) and 4) PCK0.1 (PC diet added 0.1% herbal plant mixture (koppuul??)). Eighty crossbred (Landrace×Yorkshire×Duroc) pigs (16.35±0.05kg average initial body weight) were used for 42 days. The pigs were assigned to the treatments according to body weight and each treatment had 5 replicates of 4 pigs per pen in a randomized complete block design. During the whole experimental period, PCK0.1 and PC treatments had significantly higher ADG than NC treatment (P<0.05). Gain/feed of pigs fed PC diet was higher than that of pigs fed NC diet (P<0.05). For blood immunological parameters investigations, white blood cells (WBC) counts and IgG level increased in the pigs fed PC, NCK0.2 and PCK0.1 diets compared to pigs fed NC diet. In addition, higher (P<0.05) serum lymphocyte concentration was found in PCK0.1 treatment compared to NC treatment. NH3-N concentration in pigs fed NCK0.2% diet was lower than that in pigs fed PC and NC diets. There were no significant differences in DM and N digestibilities among the treatments. In conclusion, the results suggested that the dietary additions of herbal plant mixture or antibiotics increase ADG, the concentrations of WBC counts and IgG, lymphocyte, while decrease NH3-N concentration in feces.

  • Sixty [(Duroc${\times}$Yorkshire)${\times}$Landrace] pigs (7.63$\pm$0.41kg average body weight and 25-d average age) were used in a 20-d growth assay to determine the effect of dietary recombinant human lactoferricin culture (RHLC) supplementation on growth performance, digestibility and plasma IgG concentration in weaning pigs. Dietary treatments included 1) Negative control (NC : without antibiotic), 2) Positive control (PC : NC diet + 0.1% chlortetracycline), 3) RHLC0.3 (NC diet + 0.3% RHLC), 4) RHLC0.5 (NC diet + 0.5% RHLC). No differences were found among treatments in average daily gain (P>0.05). ADFI of pigs fed RHLC0.3 diet was higher than that of pigs fed PC diet (P<0.05). However, pigs fed RHLC0.5 diet had improved gain/feed compared to pigs fed PC diet. Pigs fed PC and RHLC diets showed significantly increased dry matter digestibility compared to pigs fed NC diet (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in plasma IgG concentrations (P>0.05). The supplementation of RHLC in starter pig diets appears to be an alternative to antibiotics.

  • In order to make best use of NC machine tools with minimal labor costs, they need to be in operation 24 hours a day without being attended by human operators except for setup and tool changes. Thus, unattended machining is becoming a dream of every modern machine shop. However, without a proper mechanism for real-time monitoring of the machining processes, unattended machine could lead to a disaster. Investigated in this paper are ways to using PC camera as a real-time monitoring system for unattended NC milling operations. This study defined five machining states READY, NORMAL MACHINING, ABNORMAL MACHINING, COLLISION and END-OF-MACHINING and modeled them with DEVS (discrete event system) formalism. An image change detection algorithm has been developed to detect the table movements and a flame and smoke detection algorithm to detect unstable cutting process. Spindle on/off and cutting status could be successfully detected from the sound signals. Initial experimentation shows that the PC camera could be used as a reliable monitoring system for unattended NC machining.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish an effective inspection system by using OMM (On-Machine Measurement) system based PC-NC. This system can reduce manufacturing lead time because part is inspected each process. Inspection process planning is accomplished by determining the number of measuring points, their location, measuring path using fuzzy logic, Hammersley method, traveling salesperson problem. Inspection with contacted sensor improve quality as inspection feature is developed to based machining feature. This method is tested by simulation and experiment, then analyzed measuring data and geometry tolerance.

  • The development process of the polishing system for the aspherical lens mold for opto-electronics industry is described. The system uses the method that polishing tool is scanned on the surface under PC-NC control for the aspherical lens mold. The two axes interpolation of the minimum translation mechanism is applied to give uniform working condition by motion analysis. An aspherical surface is divided into multiple sections and each dwell time is calculated from the polishing rate model based on the Preston equation. As result of form error compensation experiment, initial form error is decreased about 25% while an average value of surface roughness is also reduced successfully from 180nm to 19nm.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of the supplementation of Achyranthes japonica extract (AJE) on overall performance levels with different nutrition concentrations in the diets of finishing pigs. Here, 140 finishing pigs with initial body weights of 50.18 ± 2.37 kg were used in a ten-week trial involving a 2 × 2 factorial design in two phases with the following factors: diet types with different nutrition concentrations (Positive control [PC] vs. Negative control [NC]) and 0 or 0.05% AJE supplementation to NC and PC diets. The PC diet was a basal diet, whereas the NC diet consisted of a 5% and 7% crude protein (CP) reduced basal diet during phase 1 (1 - 35 days) and phase 2 (36 - 70 days), respectively. A significant effect (p < 0.05) on the gain-to-feed ratio (G : F) was observed with interaction effects between the diets and AJE supplementation. However, during phase 1 and in all periods, the pigs fed the PC and NC diets with average daily feed intake (ADFI) tended to decrease compared to those fed diets with AJE. A significant effect (p = 0.0380) of E. coli was observed in pigs fed the PC and NC diets compared to AJE supplementation in phase 2 of the experiment. The backfat thickness (BFT) tended to decrease and the lean meat percentage (LMP) was significantly improved in phase 2 for pigs fed the PC and NC diets. In summary, BFT and LMP showed beneficial effects and fecal microbiota of E. coli counts were positively affected when pigs were fed diets with different nutrient concentrations.
