Universities in Korea have driven universities' new attempts to adopt more learner-centered and active learning in English. Problem-based Learning (PBL) is one of the well-known constructive teaching and learning methodologies in higher education. Our research goal was to design and develop the optimal PBL practices for a college physics course taught in English to promote learning and course satisfaction. For four semesters, we have tried and adjusted PBL components, and looked at the trend of the exam scores and group work achievement in each semester. We found that the number of problems and the duration of problem solving are the critical factors that influence the effect of PBL in a college physics course taught in English by going through iterative implementation. The iterative process of applying, designing, and constructing PBL to physics classes was meaningful not only in that we have found the optimal PBL model for learning a college physics course, but also in that we have been reflecting on the continuous interaction with learners during the course.

e-PBL based on constructivism adopted PBL(Problem Based Learning) and WBI(Web Based Learning), and it becomes the advanced model of instruction to be achieved PBL on-line. In this thesis, I applied e-PBL to 'the changing weather' part in the high school earth science I, compared to the lecture centered instruction, and analyzed how it affected on. On the basis of these, this study predicts the applicability on the cooperative learning and self-directed learning in the high school and suggests the improving of the teaching-learning with the results. The following shows the conclusion with as the central result of research. Firstly, the instruction applied e-PBL proved more effective academic achievement than the lecture centered instruction. Secondly, the instruction applied e-PBL proved more effective on the improving self-directed learning ability. Thirdly, the instruction applied e-PBL proved more effective self-efficacy than the lecture centered instruction.
In many existing studies, the analyses on the application and effect of the project-based learning model (PBL), a student-centered teaching and learning strategy, have been emphasized and carried out in various majors and courses. This case study analyzes the effects of applying a project-based learning model to the engineering accounting course for engineering students in 2021 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, compared with the offline course in 2019 and the simple online course in 2020. Project team consisting of 2-3 students carried out online collaborative learning activities for solving open-ended problems through the 5-step PBL procedure including presenting the final result. Except for this online PBL application in 2021, textbooks, lecture contents, assignments, and tests were implemented the same for each semester for three years. Through lecture evaluation and survey by students, the online PBL application semester showed higher effects in inducing student-centered learning, lecture satisfaction, and student competency improvement compared to the non-applying semesters, further, it was evaluated that the online PBL application to the course and evaluation method were more appropriate than other semesters. It is expected that the online PBL method and operation procedure applied in this study can be utilized as a best practice for the design and operation of various online courses for student-centered collaborative learning activities and educational effects.
Recent changes in medical environment are based on technology such as internet. As most hospitals require the change and the adaptation of medical, medical information experts are more needed. In this study, we developed web based PBL model and applied it to the students majoring in medical information system. The developed web-PBL model focuses on learner's online learning activities to enhance collaborative learning and self-directed learning by using online learning tools. At the result of the research, We found that the students' course evaluation somewhat increased compared to the previous class and the students positively perceived on PBL model. Moreover, this study showed that using blog as a online learning tool was a good way to enhance cooperative learning.
This study aims to develop and implement extra-curricular program applying project-based learning (PBL) and to find out its effectiveness. The research was conducted from March 2021 to December 2021 according to the ADDIE model. Surveys, t-test and descriptive statistics were also conducted. The results of the study are as follows. First, project-based learning was applied to the extra-curricular program by reflecting the characteristics of students of University A and the requirements of the person in charge of the teaching and learning center. Second, project tasks related to education of universities were proposed. Third, the programs were designed as three common courses and four consulting courses. Fourth, the program was conducted with 32 students for two months. Fifth, the post-test results of problem-solving skills rose to 0.9 points compared to the pre-test but there was no significant difference, while the post-test results of communication skills were 0.5 points lower than before and statistically significant. Sixth, the satisfaction survey result was high with a rating of 4.59. Lastly, educational implications are also discussed.
In this paper, teaching in a "switching converter (SC) design" course using problem-based learning (PBL) with dynamicbehavior- model simulation, given at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU), Taiwan, is proposed. The devised methodology encourages students to design and implement the SCs and regulate the controller's parameters in frequency domain by using 'sisitool' ('bode') in the MATLAB toolbox. The environment of PBL with converter characterization modeling and simulation reforms the learning outcome greatly and speeds up the teaching-learning process. To qualify and evaluate the learning achievements, a hands-on project cooperated with the continuous assessment approach is performed to modulate the teaching pace and learning direction in good time. Results from surveys conducted in the end of the course provided valuable opinions and suggestions for assessing and improving the learning effect of the proposed course successively. Positive feedbacks from the examinations, homework, questionnaires, and the answers to the lecturer's quizzes during class indicated that the presented pedagogy supplied more helpfulness to students in comparisons with conventional teaching paradigm, their learning accomplishments were better than expected as well.

This thesis focuses on developing an appropriate model for teaching internet ethics based on problem-based learning, and studying its effect on morality. The PBL model is focused on encouraging participation from students through discussion and essay-writing. To test the validity of the new model, the control group was constructed and was assigned an existing lecture-based model. The research applied the new method at class and compared changes in Internet ethics between two groups. The results showed that the PBL model was more effective in enhancing internet ethics among students than the lecture-based model, and they were statistically valid. Especially, the "responsibility" part within the internet ethics showed the biggest improvement.

Project-based learning is an effective teaching method for improvement of academic achievement and problem-solving ability so that is often applied to programming education. However, a strategy of enhancing motivation is required by a course design considering a learning style of students for advantage of PBL to take effect. Yet, studies on considerations with learning style still lack, when designing project-based programming learning courses for improvement of learning motivation. This research aims to address issues for consideration in designing PBL programming course. Accordingly, we analyzed learning motivation's difference between learning style in PBL programming class. We designed PBL programming course focusing ARCS model, where students making simulation The Kolb Learning Style Inventory is used to determine learning preferences. To assess students' motivation, Keller's Course Interest Survey was used in a pre-post-test-design. The result indicates that pre-post students' motivation differed. Also, we found considerations through comparing difference of ARCS model's detailed elements between learning styles.
In this paper, 1 design a mode of educational contents for Problem Based Learning(PBL) fitted education using ICT. I design a teaching and loaming schedule for PBL using ICT. I search pertinent items of educational contents to provide to student in PBL and design a mood fitted them. ,also, 1 design a pertinent mode of system to carry out a teaching and teaming schedule. Therefor, a teaching and learning schedule designed in this paper will apply easily. Because PBL manages ill-structured problem reflected the actuality and is high ratio which student participate in instruction, 1 expect that we take the effect of instruction using ICT in PBL.

Problem-Based Learning(PBL) is one of constructionism's model which is learner-centered learning. In this paper, a role-play base PBL using character is proposed to study importance of information security. It is different from the other PBL models in that it reflects the characteristics of learners, learning task. And it is learning support system which the learners preside their own learning activities using Internet and mobile devices. By experimental result showed that proposed method was more effective than traditional teacher-oriented teaching method about information security in self-directed learning, cooperative learning, contents-making and attraction.
