  • It has been known that the organic base complexes formed with the anionic acid base indicators are highly soluble in non-polar solvents but relatively insoluble in water. In the work reported here the formation of the complex between chloropromazine and bromothymol blue was studied and applied it to the determination of the base. The values to determine the binding ratio of the base with the indicator at pH 3.5 obtained from the application of Job's method of continuous variation and mol ratio method were both 1:1. From the application of this reaction to the determination of the base with carbon tetrachloride as the solvent for the extraction, fairy good results have been obtained.

  • The adoption of expert systems mainly as operator supporting systems is becoming increasingly popular as the control algorithms of system become more and more sophisticated and complicated. The verification phase of knowledge base is an important part for developing reliable expert systems, especially in nuclear industry. Although several strategies or tools have been developed to perform potential error checking, they often neglect the reliability of verification methods. Because a Petri net provides a uniform mathematical formalization of knowledge base, it has been employed for knowledge base verification. In this work, we devise and suggest an automated tool, called COKEP(Checker Of Knowledge base using Extended Petri net), for detecting incorrectness, inconsistency, and incompletensess in a knowledge base. The scope of the verification problem is expanded to chained errors, unlike previous studies that assume error incidence to be limited to rule pairs only. In addition, we consider certainty factor in checking, because most of knowledge bases have certainty factors.

  • The esterification of alcohols with acetic acid, lactic acid and citric acid was carried out in batch during the second distillation. Effect of various parameters, e.g. pH of reactant base spirit, temperature of distillation, time of distillation were studied. The parameter of distillation temperature was modified by atmospheric distillation and pressure distillation. The pressure(1.9 atm.) distillation was used in order to react and distill at high temperature. Compared with the base spirit concentration, ethyl acetate, ethyl lactate and iso-amyl acetate in esterification distillate increased by 2,890%, 6,410% and 52%, respectively. Major factors of the esterification with organic acids in distilled spirit making were molecular weight of the organic acid and pH of reactant base spirit.

  • This paper addresses the problems of using anti-freeze lubricants for different machines that must function at extremely low temperatures during winter operation in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). We discuss the possibility of obtaining anti-freeze base oils from Talakan crude oil, an area with major oil and gas deposits of the Republic of Sakha, and also provide the trade and technological classification of Talakan crude oil. We propose two different schemes for processing Talakan crude oil: the fuel scheme (obtaining light and heavy fractions as a fuel oil) and the base oil scheme (obtaining light fractions and base oils). We investigate the influence of pour point depressants on alkyl-methacrylate base on the low-temperature properties of the fractions obtained from Talakan crude oil and Korean base oils, and establish the optimal concentration of pour point depressants. We compare the properties of these fractions with the low-temperature properties of Korean base oils and find that the commercial oil "Ravenol 0W-40" provides optimistic results. We obtain oil with a pour point of minus $50^{\circ}C$ and a viscosity index greater than 100. The Design of Experiment was used to establish the optimum composition of the pour point depressants and the base oil S-8 to obtain lubricant oil with a kinematic viscosity of 17 cSt, viscosity index of 208, and a pour point of minus $64^{\circ}C$.

  • This study investigated the effect of soil-structure interaction (SSI) on the response of base-isolated buildings. Seismic isolation can significantly reduce the induced seismic loads on a relatively stiff building by introducing flexibility at its base and avoiding resonance with the predominant frequencies of common earthquakes. To provide a better understanding of the movement behavior of multi-story structures during earthquakes, this study analyzed the dynamic behavior of multi-story structures with high damping rubber bearing (HDRB) behavior base isolation systems that were built on soft soil. Various models were developed, both with and without consideration of SSI. Both the superstructure and soil were modeled linearly, but HDRB was modeled non-linearly. The behavior of the specified models under dynamic loads was analyzed using SAP2000 computer software. Erzincan, Marmara and Duzce Earthquakes were chosen as the ground motions. Following the analysis, the displacements, base shear forces, top story accelerations, base level accelerations, periods and maximum internal forces were compared in isolated and fixed-base structures with and without SSI. The results indicate that soil-structure interaction is an important factor (in terms of earthquakes) to consider in the selection of an appropriate isolator for base-isolated structures on soft soils.

  • There are three kinds of liquid petroleum marker which is extracted by the basic or acidic, and both developer. Korean marker, Unimark 1494 DB (marker) have been spectrophotometrically analysed by the determination of absorbance at 582 nm after base extraction by Unimark 1494 DB Developer C-5 (developer). Some blue dyes which have same reactive radical of marker and can be changed deep blue color in base developer extraction (BDE), may be increased absorbance at 582 nm, but dyes or markers which can be increased the absorbance, were not unclear. In this experiment, effects of three dyes or marker such as Orimax Green 151 (the mixture of CI Solvent Yellow 16 and CI Solvent Blue 70), quinizarin and Orimax Blue 2N (CI Solvent Blue 35), and two solvent such as topasol (P-250) and lubricant (P-8) on the absorbance were studied by HITACHI Recording Spectrophotometer U-3300. It shows that all of them increased absorbance at 582 nm after BDE. Absorbance at 582 nm can be showed 0.0544 by Orimax Green 151 at the concentration of 3.96 mg/l, quinizarin at the concentration of 1.38 mg/l, and Orimax Blue 2N at the concentration of 2.73 mg/l in the artificial petroleum (normal diesel oil: topasol: lubricant=2 : 4: 4), respectively. Absorbance, 0.0544 indicates that concentration of marker is 1.64 mg/l in the reference curves, respectively. And also these results can be showed that the artificial petroleum have about 10% cheep fuel such as kerosene which have marker (16.0 mg/l). Absorbance of P-250 was 0.01361-0.22842 depending upon the purchasing date, and that of P-8 was 0.05644. pH of developer was 14.83, and so this result indicates that Unimark 1494 DB is a base extractable petroleum marker, phenylazophenol (US Patent No. 5,252,106). In the BDE, the slight color of Orimax Blue 2N, Orimax Green 151 and quinizarin in artificial petroleum changed to deep bright blue color, respectively. These result indicate that the absorbance at 582 nm by BDE may be increased not only by azo, diazo, amine and ketone (anthraquinone, coumarin) dyes or markers, but also the contaminants of P-250 and P-8 which have same as reactive radical of dyes or markers.

  • Let $P(M,G,{\pi})=:P$ be a principal fibre bundle with structure Lie group G over a base manifold M. In this paper we get the following facts: 1. The tangent bundle TG of the structure Lie group G in $P(M,G,{\pi})=:P$ is a Lie group. 2. The Lie algebra ${\mathcal{g}}=T_eG$ is a normal subgroup of the Lie group TG. 3. $TP(TM,TG,{\pi}_*)=:TP$ is a principal fibre bundle with structure Lie group TG and projection ${\pi}_*$ over base manifold TM, where ${\pi}_*$ is the differential map of the projection ${\pi}$ of P onto M. 4. for a Lie group $H,\;TH=H{\circ}T_eH=T_eH{\circ}H=TH$ and $H{\cap}T_eH=\{e\}$, but H is not a normal subgroup of the group TH in general.

  • pKi values and sensitivity of acid-base indicators in the mixed solvent systems of water-alcohols and water-acetone at differential pH and in concentration media were determined by spectrophotometric method. When the concentration of the organic solvents were increased, the pKi values of sulfophthalein indicators, thymol blue and bromcresol purple, became larger whereas those of an axo indicator, methyl yellow, became smaller nad the pH values of the equivalent points of acids became smaller and the pH values of the equivalent points of acids became higher than those in the aqueous solution. potassium bicarbonate, a standard compound used in the organic solvent systems without a prerequisite procedure of expelling carbon dioxide by boiling.

  • This paper shows the high performance as a photodetector of InGaP/GaAs HPT with 3-terminal caused by its inherent good electrical properties compared with AIGaAs/GaAs HPT. InGaP/GaAs HPT produced the high optical gain of about 61 where HPT is biased at Vc=3V, Iв=2${\mu}\textrm{A}$ with an input optical power of 1.23㎼. This is 2.5 times higher than that of AIGaAs/GaAs HPT. And we examined that the optical gain of HPTs becomes larger when operating in 3-terminal configuration rather than 2-terminal with the floating base. for a given base current of 2${\mu}\textrm{A}$, the optical gain is enhanced about 18% in the InGaP/GaAs HPT and about 27% in the AIGaAs/GaAs HPT over that of the 2-terminal device.

  • This paper shows the performance as a photodetector of InP/InGaAs HPT operated with a base bias and forntside optical injection through the emitter. InP/InGaAs HPT produced the high optical gain of about 16.2 where HPT is biased at Vc=1V, I$_{B}$=20$\mu$A with an input optical power of 2.4$\mu$W. And we examined that the optical gain of HPTs becomes larger when operating in 3-terminal configuration rather than 2-terminal with the floating base. The optical performance of InP/InGaAs HPT is an attractive to the PIN Photodetector for use in long wavelength optical receivers.s.
