An ozone condensation system is evaluated from the viewpoint of an ozone supplier fro oxide thin film growth. Ozone is condensed by the adsorption method and its concentration is analyzed using the thermal decomposition method, The concentration of ozone exceeds 90mol% and ozone is supplied for a sufficiently long time to grow oxide thin films. Investigation of the ozone decomposition rate demonstrates that ozone can be transferred into the film growth chamber without marked decomposition. The ozone concentration is also evaluated using a quardrupole mass analyzer and the accuracy of this method is compared with the results of the thermal decomposition method.
The characteristics of the ozone treatments of phenol were studied in a laboratory scale wastewater treatment system. The ozone treatment of wastewater was carried out in a batch-type reactor. The initial pH of wastewater(7-10), volumetric flow rate(1-2l/min) and ozone concentration(20~30 mg/l) of aerating gas were considereal as experimental variables in the ozone treatment. Phenol was decomposed easily by the ozone in a batch treatment, where the rate determining step was the COD removal that is decomposition of intermediates formed by the ozonation of phenol. Phenol decomposition and COD removal could be expressed by the first order reaction for the phenol concentration and COD, respectively. Rate constants of phenol decomposition and COD removal increased with the initial pH, volumetric flow rate and ozone concentration of aeration gas. Under the present experimental condition, their relationships could be given by for the phenol decomposition $k'=4.46\times 10^{-9}[pH]_o ^{3.94}[O_3]^{1.42}Q_{O3}^{1.57}$ for the COD removal $k=2.46\times 10^{-10}[pH]_o ^{5.19}[O_3]^{1.15}Q_{O3}^{1.19}$
To treat certain wastewater that has alcohol and phenol, we performed the ozone electrolysis by using the titanium electrode. In this experiment, we examined decomposition voltage of organics, time for electrolysis, and removal efficiency of organics. In addition we compared the ozone oxidation electrolysis. The followings are results; 1. When it comes to the alcohol treatment in wastewater, ozone electrolysis showed higher removal efficiency than ozone oxidation or electrolysis. 2. After comparing the decomposition rate of methylalcohol, ethylalcohol, and prophylalcohol in ozone electrolysis, we knew the fact that increasing carbon number made the decomposition rate slow. 3. According to the treatment of alcohol by ozone electrolysis, decomposition voltage was 50V, time for electrolysis was three hours, and treatment acidity was neutral (pH 6.5 - 8.1). 4. Ozone electrolysis was effective to the phenol treatment. When we treated phenol by using ozone electrolysis for three hours, TOC treatment efficiency was 95%. However, ozone oxidation just showed 45% treatment efficiency.
This work was carried out ozone generation and TCE decomposition characteristics using dielectric ball materials filled barrier discharge reactor and catalyst's reactor for ozone decomposition. Ozone concentration generated from $Al_2O_3$ or $TiO_2$ filled barrier discharge reactor was so high compared with non-filled discharge reactor. This reactor is good discharge structure for generating the high ozone concentration. In addition, TCE decomposition rate and COx conversion rate increased using $MnO_2$ filled discharge reactor, because ozone was decomposed at the same discharge space on the surface of $MnO_2$ catalysts. To identify the $MnO_2$ catalytic effects, TCE decomposition rate reached to 100[%] by the decomposition of ozone at $MnO_2$ catalyst's reactor by the arrangement of $Al_2O_3$ filled discharge reactor and $MnO_2$ catalyst reactor. Finally, $MnO_2$ catalyst is good materials for the decomposition of ozone and this process will be useful for decomposing VOCs such as TCE.
In this study, the application of recovered metals from spent batteries by extraction was investigated for ozone decomposition as a catalyst. Among the recovered metals, Mn contents was the most important factor for ozone decomposition. It was also found that the deactivation rate of the catalyst was dependent on the Zn contents, while K contents and activities were not perfectly correlated for ozone decomposition. In addition, the catalytic activity the $TiO_2$ added catalyst was decreased, due to the reduction of Mn contents. The structural characteristics of maganase oxide was not associated with the catalytic activity for ozone decomposition.
In this study, the remediation of diesel contaminated soil was attempted with ozone treatment and Fenton reaction. About 10% of initial diesel concentration was removed by the ozone saturated solution. The pseudo-first order decomposition constant of diesel contaminated soil in the presence of 5% of hydrogen peroxide with 1.82, 2.82, 4.82, 6.82, and 11.82% of iron contents was 0.0228, 0.0308, 0.0482, 0.0471, and 0.0592 $min^{-1}$ respectively. The decomposition constant of the diesel was 0.0064 $min^{-1}$ with the addition of ozone saturated solution only. On the addition of ozone saturated solution in the presence of 5% hydrogen peroxide and 5% iron, the decomposition constant of the diesel was 0.0850 $min^{-1}$. These results indicated that the decomposition rate was 190% faster than without the addition of ozone saturated solution. Thus, the application of both ozone and the fenton reaction is promising for the remediation of the diesel contaminated soil.

This paper proposes an effective decomposition method of trichloroethylene using pellet packed-bed non-thermal plasma reactor and catalyst. For that, two types of reactors filled with manganese dioxide and alumina pellets are designed. When $MnO_2$ packed reactor is used, TCE decomposition rate is high due to the generation of oxygen atom radicals at the surface of catalyst during ozone decomposition. In addition, When $Al_2O_3$ packed reactor is used, TCE is oxidized into DCAC and it did not decomposed into small molecules such as COx and $Cl_2$. However, the plasma processed gas using $Al_2O_3$ packed reactor is passed through the $MnO_2$ catalyst reactor, which is placed at the downstream of plasma reactor, the decomposition rate increased as well due to oxygen atom radicals through ozone decomposition. Therefore, the adequate use of $MnO_2$ catalyst in the plasma process is very promising way to increase the decomposition efficiency.
In this experiment, we made the plasma reactor which adhere needle electrode in order to treat safely an NOx which was included in the gas. Also we experimently investigated characteristics of equipment and inspected efficiency. As a reaction gas, by using mixture gas of $NO/N_2$ and $N_2/O_2$, we setted up initial NO concentration and gas flow rate was set at 2 ${\iota}$/min. As a reaction characteristics of NOx, when discharge input power was high, NO concentration decreased and when the oxygen concentration increased, the NO decomposition was easy and decomposition energy efficiency was high. Also in case that NO concentration increased, NO decomposition energy efficiency was high but decomposition rate was low. The characteristics of ozone, when discharge input power was high, ozone increased and when $NO/N_2$ concentration increased, the ozone decreased.

This study gives the optimal reaction conditions, reaction mechanisms, reaction rates leaded from the oxidation of phenol by electron beam accelerator and ozone used for recent water treatment. It gives the new possibility of water treatment process to effectively manage industrial sewage containing toxic organic compounds and biological refractory materials. The high decomposition of phenol was observed at the low dose rate, but at this low dose rate, the reaction time was lengthened. So we must find out the optimal dose rate to promote high oxidation of reactants. The reason why the TOC value of aqueous solution wasn't decreased at the low dose was that there were a lot of low molecular organic acids as an intermediates such as formic acid or glyoxalic acid. In order to use both electron beam accelerator and biological treatment for high concentration refractory organic compounds, biological treatment is needed when low molecular organic compounds exist abundantly in sewage. In this experiment, the condition of making a lot of organic acids is from 5 kGy into 20 kGy dose. Decomposition rate of phenol by electron beam accelerator was first order reaction up to 300ppm phenol solution on the basic of TOC value and also showed first order reaction by using both air and ozone as an oxidants.

The aim of this study was to investigate the ozone decay pattern for the effective application of ozone in drinking water treatment. In order to measure the ozone decomposition in water, ozone measuring instrument was developed with flow injection analysis (FIA) method. From the result of continuous residual ozone concentration in water, it was confirmed that the ozone decay pattern was divided with instantaneous ozone demand(I.D) and pseudo first-order rate($k_c$) phases, which were influenced by the variation of ozone dose. The empirical model obtained from I.D and $k_c$ values enabled us to predict the residual ozone concentration according to the reaction time, showing the high correlation between model and experimental values. The concentration of OH radical and $R__{ct}$ could be indirectly measured by OH radical probe compound. In both I.D and $k_c$ phases, the production pattern of OH radical could be observed, which was also affected by the variation of ozone dose. Finally, it was confirmed that the ozone consumption rate was varied according to the each drinking water treatment process and seasoning. Therefore, the optimum position and dosage of ozone have to be selected by considering various factors.
