A novel refractive index sensor, which consists of polymer channel waveguide overlaid with $TiO_2$ thin film, is demonstrated. To evaluate the fabricated sensor, we measured the polarimetric interference induced by concentration change of injected glycerol solution. Our experimental results show that thicker $TiO_2$ film improves the sensitivity of the polarimetric interferometer. For the fabricated waveguide with a 20 nm thick $TiO_2$ film, the measured index change to lead phase variation of $2{\pi}$ is $1.8{\times}10^{-3}$.
According to the result of the experiment, except that Oebal Hanji making, which does not consider the fiber orientation, has a smaller difference between its strength of width and length direction than of Ssangbal Hanii making, there is not a significant difference between Oebal Hanji making and Ssangbal Hanji making. In addition, even though Oebal Hanji making produced indigenous technique is generally felt sturdy because its absolute strength is enhanced by applying fine materials and overlaying several sheets of paper, its relative strength, which is expressed in an index, is not far beyond that of Ssangbal Hanji making Study on the effect of Dochim revealed that Dochim improves remarkably folding endurance and enhances breaking length and the burst strength. Especially, Dochim increase tensile strength. It was also revealed that, indigenous Oebal Hanji making, the higher the number of sheets of paper overlaid is, the higher the tear strength is the increase relatively higher than those of other types of strength. Consequently, Dochim treatment greatly reinforces the imperfect strength of indigenous Hanji. We consider that if we apply Dochim treatment to Ssangbal Hanji making it may bring about abnormal imbalance of strength. We can benefit from the characteristic strength of Oebal Hanji making only when performing paper making and Dochim considering fiber orientation.

Latex modified concrete (LMC) is a successful polymer-portland cement concretes, which have been developed and used for many years, in overlaying bridge decks and resurfacing industrial floors. The excellent bond strength to substrate, easy application and high resistance to impact, abrasion, wear, aggressive chemicals and freeze-thaw deterioration have made this material used widely. The objective of this study was to determine experimentally the load-deflection response and ultimate strength of reinforced RC beams. The cracking patterns and the mode of failure were observed. Because of excellent bond strength and repairing effects, the RC beams repaired by LMC at compression or tension zone showed over 100% recovery from damaged structures. The RC beams overlaid by LMC showed significant improvement at load carrying capacity as overlay thickness increases. However, the beams repaired of tension zone without shear stirrups almost showed no strengthen effect, and indicated an interfacial failures. The interfacial behavior was estimated by numerical method adopting the concept of shear flow.
Kwamegi, a traditional Korean food, is made from the flesh of Pacific saury (the fish Cololabis saira semi-dried in a cold wind off the sea, and is well known in Korea as a valuable health food. Recently, several functional materials have been developed for supplementation of Kwamegi. Here, we compared and analyzed the nutrient composition, including overall composition and mineral, vitamin, fatty acid, and amino acid levels, of several commercial Kwamegi samples prepared with addition of functional components (unsupplemented Kwamegi, Kwamegi with chitosan, and Kwamegi overlaid with gold leaf). The levels of moisture (26.4-30.8%), crude protein (29.1-32.7%), and crude ash (1.6-1.9%) did not differ greatly among samples. However, the crude lipid content of Kwamegi overlaid with gold leaf (KOGL, 32.2%) was greater than that of untreated Kwamegi (CK, 24.5%) or of Kwamegi with added chitosan (KAC, 22.9%). The levels of vitamin $B_2$ (1.8-2.0 mg/100 g) and vitamin C (6.6-6.7 mg/100 g) did not differ greatly among Kwamegi samples. However, CK had a higher vitamin A content and a greater vitamin A potency than did KAC or KOGL. The various Kwamegi samples tested contained similar levels of fatty acids and amino acids. In conclusion, no particular differences in nutrient composition were evident when commercial Kwamegi samples supplemented with functional ingredients were tested

Purpose: This study was aimed to compare the consistency between the custom abutment design and the output in two CAD software programs. Materials and Methods: Customized abutments were designed by using 3Shape Dental System CAD software and Delta9 CAD software on a plaster model with implants (CRM STL file). After milling of the designed abutments, the abutments were scanned with a contact method scanner (Test STL file). We overlaid the Test STL file with each CRM STL file by using inspection software, and then compared the milling reproducibility by measuring the output error of the specimens from each CAD software program. Results: The Delta9 showed better milling reproducibility than 3Shape when comparing the milling errors obtained with a full scan of all specimens (P < .05) and also when comparing the axial wall region specifically according to the axial angle. With 0.9 mm marginal radius, the Delta9 showed better consistency between the design and the output than 3Shape (P < .05). While, anti-rotation form had no significant difference in error between the two systems. When cumulative errors were compared, the Delta9 showed better milling reproducibility in almost cases (P < .05). Conclusion: Delta9 showed a significantly smaller error for most of the abutment design options. This means that it is possible to facilitate generation of printouts with reliable reproducibility and high precision with respect to the planned design.
To improve biopolymer productivity and properties of Bacillus strains, protoplast fusion was performed between biopolymer producing Bacillus subtilis K-1 and lactose utilizing Bacillus coagulans. The results were as follows; Protoplasts mixed in fusion fluid containing 33% PEG 6000, 1% PVP and 10 mM $CaCl_2$ were reacted for 5 min at $37^{\circ}C$ and then centrifused protoplasts were directly overlaid on the selective media containing $100\;{\mu}g/ml$ antibiotics and incubated for 3 days. At this conditions, the frequency of protoplast fusion was generally in the range of $4.6{\times}10^{-5}\;to\;1.8{\times}10^{-7}$ in ratio. Segregation ratio was observed between 1 to 6% indicating genetic stability of all the fusants. Fusants growth were also observed on the media contained amino acid and antibiotics as required marked materials. DNA contents of the selected fusants were 1.6 to 2.7 times more than that of parent strains. With observation by TEM microscopy, spherical protoplasts were first released from the swollen parental cells and then contracted to fuse in the process of fusion. And fused cells were observed representative vesicle. Originally, the parental cells were observed as in the morphology of thick-walled and double membrane-surrounded rod shape with TEM microscopy.
Purpose :To develop a method for verifying a treatment setup in stereotactic radiotherapy by ma- tching portal images to DRRs. Materials and Methods : Four pairs of orthogonal portal images of one patient immobilized by a thermoplastic mask frame for fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy were compared with DRRs. Portal images are obtained in AP (anteriorfposterior) and lateral directions with a target localizer box containing fiducial markers attached to a stereotactic frame. DRRs superimposed over a planned iso-center and fiducial markers are printed out on transparent films. And then, they were overlaid over onhogonal penal images by matching anatomical structures. From three different kind of objects (isgcenter, fiducial markers, anatomical structure) on DRRs and portal images, the displacement error between anatomical structure and isocenters (overall setup error), the displacement error between anatomical structure and fiducial markers (irnrnobiliBation error), and the displacement error between fiducial markers and isocenters (localization error) were measured. Results : Localization error were 1.5$\pm$0.3 mm (AP), 0.9$\pm$0.3 mm (lateral), and immobilization errors were 1.9$\pm$0.5 mm (AP), 1.9$\pm$0.4 mm (lateral). In addition, overall setup errors were 1.0$\pm$0.9 mm (AP), 1.3$\pm$0.4 mm (lateral). From these orthogonal displacement errors, maximum 3D displacement errors($\sqrt{(\DeltaAP)^{2}+(\DeltaLat)^{2}$)) were found to be 1.7$\pm$0.4 mm for localization, 2.0$\pm$0.6 mm for immobilization, and 2.3$\pm$0.7 mm for overall treatment setup. Conclusion : By comparing orthogonal portal images with DRRs, we find out that it is possible to verify treatment setup directly in stereotactic radiotherapy.
Purpose: We assessed the absorbed dose to the tumor ($Dose_{tumor}$) by using pretreatment FDG-PET and whole-body (WB) planar images in repeated radioimmunotherapy (RIT) with $^{131}I$ rituximab for NHL. Materials and Methods: Patients with NHL (n=4) were administered a therapeutic dose of $^{131}I$ rituximab. Serial WB planar images alter RIT were acquired and overlaid to the coronal maximum intensity projection (MIP) PET image before RIT. On registered MIP PET and WB planar images, 2D-ROls were drawn on the region of tumor (n=7) and left medial thigh as background, and $Dose_{tumor}$ was calculated. The correlation between $Dose_{tumor}$ and the CT-based tumor volume change alter RIT was analyzed. The differences of $Dose_{tumor}$ and the tumor volume change according to the number of RIT were also assessed. Results: The values of absorbed dose were $397.7{\pm}646.2cGy$ ($53.0{\sim}2853.0cGy$). The values of CT-based tumor volume were $11.3{\pm}9.1\;cc$ ($2.9{\sim}34.2cc$), and the % changes of tumor volume before and alter RIT were $-29.8{\pm}44.3%$ ($-100.0%{\sim}+42.5%$), respectively. $Dose_{tumor}$ and the tumor volume change did not show the linear relationship (p>0.05). $Dose_{tumor}$ and the tumor volume change did not correlate with the number of repeated administration (p>0.05). Conclusion: We could determine the position and contour of viable tumor by MIP PET image. And, registration of PET and gamma camera images was possible to estimate the quantitative values of absorbed dose to tumor.
