This study was conducted to examine the quality characteristics of Oncorhynchus masou stock containing various amounts of tomato (2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%). To accomplish this, the moisture contents, Hunter's color value, pH, salinity, sugar contents, free sugar contents, minerals and free amino acid were measured. The b value decreased, while the L value, a value, pH, salinity, sugar contents, total sugar (fructose, glucose, sucrose) and minerals (Na, Mg, K, Ca, Fe) increased as the ratio of tomato increased. A total of 33 free amino acids were detected, and the amino acid content increased as the ratio of tomato increased. Investigation of different attributes revealed that tomato content significantly affected color intensity, savory flavor and tomato taste. In the acceptance test, stock containg 8% tomato was preferred for flavor, taste, texture and overall quality ; therefore, this was taken as the optimal tomato content for maximizing the overall quality of Oncorhynchus masou stock.
This study was conducted in order to promote the utilization of fish meat paste added mulberry leaf powder(EPM) as food. The tested concentrations of mulberry leaf powder were 0, 0.1, 3, 0.5 and Ito The weight of the fish meat paste with FPM was heavier than the control(p<0.001). Oil absorption was the highest in the one with $0.3\%$ mulberry leaf powder, The It a and b values of the fish meat paste were decreased as increasing the concentration of mulberry leaf powder in Hunter color value(p<0.001). Good flexibility was shown not only in the control but also in the one with FPM in folding test. In texturometer test, the hardness was increasing, but the cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess, and brittleness were decreasing in according to increasing the concentration of mulberry leaf powder. In sensory evaluation, color and oily taste were getting higher as increasing the concentration of mulberry leaf powder. The fish meat paste added with $0.5\%$ mulberry leaf powder showed the highest acceptance scores in flavor, texture and overall quality. The result suggest that mulberry leaf powder can be applied to fish meat paste for both quality and functionality.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation of psychological distress in the relationship between disturbance in ADL from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy and quality of life in order to provide a basis for planning nursing interventions to improve the quality of life in cancer patients. Methods: A purposive sample of 130 patients treated with chemotherapy were recruited in the cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. The instruments were the Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy Assessment Tool (CIPNAT), Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General (FACT-G). Results: The mean score for disturbance in ADL from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy was 3.30. Overall quality of life was 2.48. The mean score was 1.04 for psychological distress. The prevalence was 35.4% for anxiety and 47.7% for depression. There were significant correlations among the three variables, disturbance in ADL from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, psychosocial distress, and quality of life. Psychosocial distress had a complete mediating effect (${\beta}$= -.74, p <.001) in the relationship between disturbance in ADL from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy and quality of life (Sobel test: Z= -6.11, p <.001). Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, nursing intervention programs focusing on disturbance of ADL management, and decrease of psychological distress are highly recommended to improve quality of life in cancer patients.
Purpose: This study was a descriptive correlation research designed to provide basic data on family nursing interventions by examining burden, social support and quality of life for family caregivers of patients on hemodialysis. Methods: Data were collected from 132 family caregivers of patients on hemodialysis and analyzed using frequency analysis, correlation analysis, independent samples t-test method, one-way ANOVA and post-hoc analysis of $Scheff{\grave{e}}$, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Burden for family caregivers of patients on hemodialysis was 3.03, social support, 4.77, and quality of life, 3.26. Burden showed a negative correlation with social support (r=-.34, p<.001), and with quality of life (r=-.54, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between social support and quality of life (r=.54, p<.001). Factors predicting quality of life for family caregivers, were a significant and positive effect from social support (t=5.72, p<.001) and a negative effect from family burden (t=-5.62, p<.001). Conclusion: Results of the study indicate that burden of these family caregivers can be reduced by social support which plays an important role in improving quality of life. A nursing intervention program which goes beyond simply caring for patients and includes assessment of family burden and support for overall family caretaking needs to be developed.
Purpose: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in children and adolescents is associated with high morbidity and possibly has a significant negative impact on their quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life of children and adolescents with IBD and define the variables that impact these individuals. Methods: We administered the Pediatric Quality of Life Questionnaire (PedsQL) to 35 children and adolescents diagnosed with IBD and with available quantitative data from clinical records on epidemiology, clinical evolution, complementary tests, medical interventions, and disease activity. Data were evaluated according to the IBD type and compared with a control group of healthy children. Results: The study group showed a significantly lower PedsQL score than the control group (p<0.01). Significant factors contributing to poor overall quality of life included female sex, Crohn's disease, surgery, and food restrictions. Symptoms such as diarrhea and the fear of using public toilets were associated with low physical scores. Feeling sick had a negative impact on the emotional PedsQL scores. Patients with a fear of using public toilets, anthropometric scores below the 3rd percentile, and greater disease activity scored lower in the social domain. Regarding school and psychosocial evaluations, younger children with symptom onset after the age of 2 years had lower scores than younger children with symptom onset before the age of 2 years. Conclusion: IBD negatively affects the quality of life of children and adolescents based on its impact on the physical, emotional, social, and psychosocial statuses of these patients.

Purpose: This study examined the level of retirement preparation and quality of life and to identify the relationship among work, retirement preparation and quality of life in the baby boomer generation. Methods: The subjects of this study were 204 people in the baby boomer generation in Changwon city, Gyeongsangnam-do. Results: Work affected the quality of life in the Changwon city baby boomer generation through job satisfaction and social interaction in the workplace. Retirement preparation through the workplace also appeared to have a partial mediating effect on the quality of life. Conclusion: The results suggest that work(satisfaction and social network) can affect the quality of life of the baby boomer generation. Furthermore, the retirement preparation of the baby boomer generation has a partial mediation effect on the overall quality of life.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influential factors for the quality of life of 151 dental hygienists. Average score were job stress $2.84{\pm}0.60$, social support $3.97{\pm}0.52$ and quality of life $3.18{\pm}0.35$ In terms of the quality of life, there were significant gaps according to age, marital status, the type of workplace, education and economic status. In social support significant difference were found according to age, the type of workplace and work system. In job stress, economic status made significant differences to that. Among the sub-factors of the quality of life, the dental hygienists who worked in public dental clinics led a life of higher quality than those who worked in hospitals in terms of physical and psychological health. In terms of social relationships, the dental hygienists who received graduate-school education led a life of better quality than the college graduates. In terms of environments, the 30-34 age group led a life of better quality than the 25-29 age group, and those who worked in public dental clinics led a life of better quality than the others. Those who received graduate-school education led a life of better quality than the junior-college graduates and the college graduates, and the group whose annual income was between 30 and 39 million won led a life of higher quality than the others. In terms of the overall quality of life, the group that worked for five days a week was ahead of the other that worked for five days a week. As a result of analyzing what factors affected the quality of life, emotional support, material support were identified as the variables to have a significant impact on that.

This study analyzed the factors affecting urban residents' expectations and participation in community gardens to present basic data of guidelines for community garden management. Urban citizens valued the necessity of community gardens overall, especially residents with outdoor gardens. The experience of private gardens was important in perceiving the need for community gardens, which are public spaces. The creation of community gardens had high expectations for social aspects such as improving quality of life, health promotion, and community revitalization. In particular, residents living in individual housing have high expectations for revitalization of the community, and community gardens can be a mediator for forming and maintaining local communities. Through this, the citizens' perception on the role and function of the garden as a community space could be examined. Expectations for quality of life, health promotion, and community revitalization are factors affecting the necessity of community garden. Participation was high in the creation and management of the community garden, and the necessity of community gardens, expectation for community revitalization, and expectation for environmental purification are factors that affect participation in the management of community gardens. The amount of donations that the residents are willing to pay for community garden management was KRW 75,222 /year on average. Overall, residents with higher need for community gardens and higher social expectation showed higher participation. Urban citizens have high expectations for community gardens, and they perceive the importance of social aspects more than personal aspects such as community revitalization and quality of life. As a strategy for increasing community involvement, it is necessary to set up the processes, determine participants' composition and roles, and establish a system to promote participation. Considering welfare aspects such as community revitalization and improvement of residents' quality of life, motivation and administrative support for participation in the creation and management of community gardens will serve as important factors.
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the patient's pain and quality of life after suture removal at either 3 or 7 days following the bilateral surgical extraction of impacted lower third molars. Methods: This study was a prospective, randomized controlled clinical trial carried out in 30 patients, who acted as their own control. Each patient required the bilaterally impacted mandibular third molars to be extracted. The impacted teeth were removed and the wound margins were approximated and sutured with black braided silk. The suture material was removed on day 3 on one side and on day 7 on the other. Each participant was asked to complete a questionnaire after the removal of the suture material on each designated day. Results: Regarding overall clinical symptoms, the mean VAS scores of male and female participants on day 3 were not significantly different from those on day 7. A significant difference was found in female participants, in that overall daily activity was better on day 7. There were significant differences in the ability to smile and laugh in both sexes and the ability to chew in the male participants was better on day 7. Conclusions: There were no significant differences in the patient's pain and quality of life between suture removal on day 3 or on day 7 following surgery to remove impacted lower third molars.
Fatty acid profiles in relation to meat quality traits and sensory palatability of grain-fed and grass-fed beef from Hanwoo, American, and Australian crossbred cattle were examined in this study. There were significant (p<0.001) differences in fat content and fatty acid compositions between grain-fed and grass-fed beef. Grain-fed Hanwoo had significantly (p<0.001) lower saturated fatty acid (SFA) proportion but higher monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) proportion compared to grass-fed cattle. The proportion of oleic acid in grain-fed Hanwoo was significantly (p<0.001) higher than that in grass-fed Hanwoo, Australian crossbred, or American crossbred cattle. Grain-fed Hanwoo had significantly (p<0.001) lower percentages of drip loss and cooking loss compared to other cattle. Overall palatability panel scores of grain-fed cattle were significantly (p<0.001) higher than those of grass-fed cattle. Consequently, sensory overall palatability was negatively correlated with proportions of SFA and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), but positively correlated with the proportion of MUFA. In particular, the proportion of oleic acid was strongly and positively correlated with fat content (r=0.91, p<0.001) and overall palatability (r=0.92, p<0.001). These results implied that high-concentrate grain-fed could increase intramuscular fat (IMF) content and the proportion of oleic acid, thus increasing the sensory palatability of Hanwoo beef.
