In this study, the comfortable as well as good-looking overall patterns were investigated. For proposing the proper ease of the overall, 9 types of experimental overall, that had the ease of different size and position, were made. The appearance of experimental overall No. 5, that had total 10.5㎝ ease in the back, was better than the others. The position of ease affected the appearance of overall. Experimental overall No. 9, that had total 12.5㎝ ease in the back, was better than any others in comfort. The position of ease was not important in comfort. From these results, it was proposed that the proper ease size increased the both comfort and appearance. The paper ease sizes, to gain the comfort and good-looking overalls pattern, were 3.5㎝ in the center-back waist and 2㎝ in the end of crotch to the outside.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of foot orthotics on the overall comfort and muscle activity during running. The subjects were 10 members from the joggers' club which consisted of 2 women and 8 men. These individuals ran on the treadmill by 4.0m/s speed with and without the custom foot orthotics. The data concerning the overall comfort was collected by a questionairre that examined the overall comfort, heel cushioning, forefoot cushioning, medio-lateral control, arch height, heel cup fit, shoe heel width, forefoot width, and shoe length The MegaWin ver. 2.1(Mega Electronics lid, Ma. Finland) was used to gain electromyography signals of the muscle activity; Tibialis anterior, medial gastronemius, lateral gastronemius, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, biceps femoris, and rectus femoris were measured. The results of the study were as follows. 1. During running the overall comfort was higher for the foot arthotic condition than the nonorthotic condition. Among the inquiries the overall comfort showed the biggest difference comparing the two conditions. and the shoe heel width showed the highest score for contort. 2 The muscle activity of the biceps femoris, and vastus lateralis in the stance period decreased. due to the foot orthotics. The muscle activity of the vastus medialis in the swing period also decreased and the muscle activity tibialis anterior in the stance and swing stance decreased as well During running, orthotics showed positive result in foot comfort. The foot comfort related to decreased stress, muscle activity, and foot arch strain. Overall comfort and the adequate decrease of muscle activity were associated with injury prevention and the best method to prevent injury semms to be the maintenance of foot comfort.

This study examines the wearing conditions of working clothes according to the working environment and working processes at machinery, automobile, shipbuilding industry sites. It also investigates the relationship between the wearing sense of working clothes and the overall comfort according to work processes. The hazardous working environment was high in the order of the shipbuilding industry, machinery, and automobiles. The findings on the harmful overall work environmental factors were the noise, heavy dust, and noxious fumes, respectively. In general, the satisfaction with the wearing performance of working clothes was low especially with regard to sweat absorbency, sweat permeability, body protection and covering, and the work motion suitability. In respect of the correlation between the overall comfort and the wearing sense of working clothes, the satisfaction was decreased in the order of movement comfort, sensual comfort, and physiological comfort.

A bus seat is required to be ergonomically designed in terms of its shape and physical properties to increase seating comfort. The present study is intended to develop a systematic bus seat evaluation protocol based on seating comfort. A total of 48 participants evaluated 12 parts (seat belt, recliner, armrest, headrest, upper-back support, lumbar support, seatback bolster, seatback overall, hip support, thigh support, seatpan bolster, and seatpan overall) of 12 bus seats with 17 subjective comfort measures (e.g., convenience of control, suitability of size, and overall comfort). Lastly, ergonomic features of shape and physical properties of each seat part were identified based on the subject evaluation analysis results. The developed bus seat evaluation protocol can be applied to evaluate various types of seats.
Objectives: A hospital is a complex building that serves many different purposes. The indoor environment in a hospital plays a major role in patient well-being and the work efficiency of the hospital staff. This study was conducted to evaluate overall comfort in two major hospitals over the course of one year. Methods: Various indoor environmental conditions were measured in two general hospitals for one year (April 2014 to April 2015). Monitoring alternated between the hospitals at one month per respective monitoring session. The indoor air temperature, relative humidity (RH), mean radiant temperature and air velocity were measured in order to calculate the predicted mean vote (PMV). Carbon dioxide concentration, noise level and illumination level were concurrently measured and applied to the overall IEQ acceptance model for the hospitals (IEQh). Results: The IEQh at the two general hospitals was different at five spaces within a building. The IEQh for summer and winter were significantly different. Real-time IEQh demonstrated that indoor comfort was affected by the hospital's operating hours due to operation of the HVAC system. The percentage of indoor comfort in the hospitals was higher using PMV than IEQh. Conclusion: IEQh in the hospitals was different at locations with different purposes. Indoor comfort assessment using IEQh was stricter than with PMV. Additional research is needed in order to optimize the IEQh model.

This study examined the work environment and wearing conditions of industrial protective clothing in shipbuilding workshops. It also investigated the relationship between the wearing sensation of industrial protective clothing and overall comfort, according to work process. In addition, the work posture according to work process was evaluated based on ergonomic factors. The wearing rate of industrial protective clothing was 73.3%, 66.7%, and 60.1% for workers engaged in welding, grinding, and painting, respectively. The harmful work environment factors, listed from most harmful to least harmful, were found to be high temperature pyrogens, noxious fumes, organic solvents, UV rays, and heavy dust. The aspect of wearing performance of industrial protective clothing that was most related to user dissatisfaction was poor sweat absorbency. In terms of the correlation between the overall comfort and the wearing sensation of industrial protective clothing, the satisfaction was low shown in orders of physiological comfort, sensual comfort, and movement comfort.
Thermal neutrality is not enough to achieve thermal comfort. The temperature level can be the optimal, and still people may complain. This situation is often explained by the problem of local discomfort. Local discomfort can be caused by radiant asymmetry, local air velocities, too warm and too cold floor temperature and vertical temperature difference. This temperature difference may generate thermal discomfort due to different thermal sensation in different body parts. Therefore, thermal comfort can not be correctly evaluated without considering these differences. This study investigates thermal discomfort sensations of different body parts and its effect on overall thermal sensation and comfort in air-heating room. Experimental results of evaluating thermal discomfort at different body parts in an air-heating room showed that thermal sensation on the shoulder was significantly related to the overall thermal sensation and discomfort. Although it is known that cool-head, warm-foot condition is good for comfort living, cool temperature around the head generated discomfort.
In this paper, the ride comfort from a computer simulation was compared to the experimental result. For measuring ride comfort of a passenger car, acceleration data was obtained from the floor and seat during highway running with different speeds. The measured acceleration components were multiplied by the proper weighting functions, and then summed together to calculate overall ride values. Testing several passenger cars, the ride comforts were compared. In order to investigate the effect of vibration signals on the steering wheel, an apparatus to measure the vibrations and weighting functions on the steering wheel were designed. The effect of the steering accelerations on the ride comfort were investigated and added for the overall ride comfort. For the computer simulations, Korean dummy models were developed based on the Hybrid III dummy models. For the Korean dummy scaling, the national anthropometric survey of Korean people was used. In order to compare and check the validity of the developed Korean dummy models, dynamic responses were compared to those of Hybrid III dummy models. The computer simulation using the MADYMO software was also compared to the experimental results.

This study analyzed a subject's body reaction and subjective sensation when wearing a gait-assistive rehabilitation robot. The research method measured skin and clothing surface temperatures for 'seating-standing' and 'walking in place' exercises after wearing a gait-assistive rehabilitation robot. In addition, subjective sensation and satisfaction were evaluated on a 7-point Likert scale. The study results showed that the average skin temperature during exercise while wearing the gait-assistive rehabilitation robot was within a comfortable range. However, during the 'seating-standing' exercise, the skin temperature was slightly lowered. Additionally, the clothing surface temperature tended to be lower than the pre-exercise temperature after all exercises. The subjective sensation evaluation results showed that the wear comfort of the waist part was low during mobility/activity. In addition, an overall improvement in the wear comfort of the robot is necessary. The short-time movement of wearing and walking in the gait-assistive rehabilitation robot did not interfere with the thermal comfort of the body. However, the robot needs to be ergonomically improved in consideration of the long wearing time along with improved material that to satisfy overall wearing comfort.
