  • After $MoS_2$ catalyst was prepared at 1, 30, and 70 atm, the hydrothermal pressure effect over preparation of $MoS_2$ was investigated in terms of catalyst characterization and direct methanation. Multifaceted characterization techniques such as XRD, BET, SEM, TPR, EDS, and XPS were used to analyze and investigate the effect of high pressure over the preparation of surface and bulk $MoS_2$ catalyst. Result from XRD, SEM, and BET demonstrated that $MoS_2$ was more dispersed as preparation pressure was increased, which resulted finer $MoS_2$ crystal size and higher surface area. EDS result confirmed that bulk composition was $MoS_2$ and XPS result showed that S/Mo mole ratio of surface was about 1.3. TPR showed that $MoS_2$ prepared at 30 atm possessed higher active surface sites than $MoS_2$ prepared at 1 atm and these sites could contribute to higher CO yield during methanation. Direct methanation was used to evaluate the CO conversion of the both catalysts prepared at 1 atm and 30 atm and reaction condition was at feed mole ratio of $H_2/CO=1$, GHSV=4800, 30 atm, temperature($^{\circ}C$) of 300, 350, 400, and 450. $MoS_2$ prepared at 30 atm showed more stable and higher CO conversion than $MoS_2$ prepared at 1 atm. Faster deactivation was occurred over $MoS_2$ prepared at 1 atm, which indicated that preparation pressure of $MoS_2$ catalyst was the dominant factor to improve the yield of direct methanation.

  • Silibinin(silybin) is the active component of silymarin from Silybum marianum and has hepato-protective effect. It is water-insoluble and has low bioavailability. To improve its bioavailability, self-micro-emulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) has been developed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical Company (Silyma $n^{R}$ 140 soft capsule). In this study, the pharmacokinetic profiles of Silyma $n^{R}$ were examined and compared it with a reference preparation, L Caps140 of B Pharmaceutical Company. This study was approved by Yonsei University Severance Hospital IRB(approval No. CR0004) and followed the bioequivalence test guideline of Korean FDA. Eighteen healthy adult volunteers were allocated based on 2$\times$2 Latin square cross-over design. They were given 2 capsules (each contains silymarin 140 mg (60 mg as silibinin)) of either drug at each period and crossed over after a week of drug-free washout period. Blood concentration of silibinin was measured by HPLC. The $C_{max}$ and AUC of the Silyma $n^{R}$ were 1542.0 $\pm$ 402.7 ng/ml and 3323.3 $\pm$ 824.7 ng.h/ml, respectively, and were significantly higher than those of reference preparation. The Tmax was 0.8 $\pm$ 0.3 h and significantly shorter than reference preparation. The $K_{e}$ and $T_{1}$2/ of both drugs were comparable. Percent differences in means against reference preparation were +88.3% for AUC, +222.6% for $C_{max}$, and -61.1% for $T_{max}$./.>././.>./.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of implant shape and bone preparation on the primary stability of the implants using resonance frequency analysis. Methods: Sixty bovine rib blocks were used for soft and hard bone models. Each rib block received two types of dental implant fixtures; a straight-screw type and tapered-screw type. Final drilling was done at three different depths for each implant type; 1 mm under-preparation, standard preparation, and 1 mm over-preparation. Immediately after fixture insertion, the implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured for each implant. Results: Regardless of the bone type, the ISQ values of the straight-screw type and tapered-screw type implants were not significantly different (P>0.05). Depth of bone preparation had no significant effect on the ISQ value of straight-screw type implants (P>0.05). For the tapered-screw type implants, under-preparation significantly increased the ISQ value (P<0.05), whereas overpreparation significantly decreased the ISQ value (P<0.05). Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, it is concluded that bone density seemed to have a prevailing effect over implant shape on primary stability. The primary stability of the tapered-screw type implants might be enhanced by delicate surgical techniques.

  • In this study, the utilization possibility of coal-preparation refuse emitted from Hwasun coal mine in Korea as a raw material for ceramic body was investigated. The firing shrinkage ratio of ceramic specimen made from the coal-preparation refuse was reduced with increasing the addition amounts of that, while the compressive strength was slightly decreased. The weight of ceramic body was also reduced because carbon contained in the coal-preparation refuse was burn by fring. The water adsorption ratio of the ceramic specimen was under 10 wt%, and the compressive strength of that was over 21 MPa at over $1,150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. Therefore, it was possible to make the 1st garde clay brick of KS L 4201 from the coal-preparation refuse.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microleakage of root-end filling material filled in blood contaminated root-end cavity and self-etching adhesive placed over blood contaminated resected root apices without root-end preparation. Extracted, human maxillary incisors, canines and mandibular premolar were randomly divided into four groups of 15 teeth each. After canal preparation, resection of the apex and root-end preparation, MTA and IRM were filled in the root-end cavity (A and B group). After canal preparation and resection of the apex, Clearfil SE Bond and Prompt L-Pop were applied over the contaminated root-end surfaces (C and D group). The roots were then subjected to 15cm of water pressure to simulate periapical microleakage stress. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results were as follows : 1. All groups showed a tendency of decreasing microleakage in process of time after 2weeks later except IRM group. 2. After 2 weeks and 1 month, MTA group showed less microleakage significantly than other groups(p<0.05). After 2 months, Prompt L-Pop group showed less microleakage significantly than other groups(p<0.05). 3. After 9 months, there were no significant differences among four groups(p>0.05). Thus it is considered that apical sealing using adhesives system without root-end preparation is good method in endodontic surgery.
