The world's major countries have focused on the renewable energy industry as the solution to climate change and the energy crisis. Nevertheless, there are no studies on the economic effects of the renewable energy industry. This study analyzed the economic effects of Korea's renewable energy industry by using the 2010 Input-Output Table. It is estimated that Korea's renewable energy industry made a production-induced effect of 2.0262 won, and a value-added-induced effect of 0.6138 won through an increase in output growth of 1 won, and an employment-induced effect of 2.3046 labors through an increase in output growth of 1 billion won. Both the effect ratio and the response ratio were greater than 1, which means the renewable energy industry is an intermediate manufacturing industry whose forward linkage effect and backward linkage effects are large. These results show differences with previous studies that classified electricity sector and renewable energy industry into final primary production industries. It is expected that the economic effects of the renewable energy industry will become greater in the future. Therefore, research on statistics related to the renewable energy industry is needed for more precise analysis.

Utilization of renewable energy is becoming increaingly important from the viewpoints of environmental protection and conservation of fossil fuel. However, the generating power of renewable energy is always fluctuating due to the environmental status. This paper presents a scheme for supervisory control of wind generation system with the energy storage and STATCOM to reduce the power variation. In this paper, we especially concentrate on constant power output control of wind generation system. In order to achieve this purpose, the coordinated control strategy between different types of energy storage system and reactive power compensation device. The proposed control scheme has been validated by PSCAD/EMTDC simulation. As a result, the proposed scheme can handle the power output of wind generation system with a constant value.

Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is one of ways to convert mechanical energy sound, waves, wind, vibrations, and human motions to available electrical energy. The principal mechanism to generate electrical energy is based on contact electrification on material surface and electrostatic induction between electrodes. The performance of TENG are dependent on amount of the input mechanical energy and characteristics of triboelectric materials. Furthermore, the whole TENG system including mechanical structure and electrical system can effect on output performance of TENG. In this work, we investigated the effect of gear train on output performance and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of TENG under a given input energy. We applied the gear train on mechanical structure to improve the contact rate. We measured the output energy under a constant input energy by controlling the size of the working gear. We prepared gears with gear ratios (rin/rw) of 1, 1.7, and 5. Under the constant input energy, the voltage and current from our gear-based TENG system were enhanced up to the maximum of 3.6 times and 4.4 times, respectively. Also, the PCE was increased up to 7 times at input frequency of 1.5 Hz. In order to understand the effect of kinematic design on TENG system, we performed a capacitor experiment with rectification circuit that provide DC voltage and current. Under the input frequency of 4.5 Hz, we obtained a 3 times enhanced rectifying voltage at a gear ratio of 5. The measured capacitor voltage was enhanced up to about 8 fold in using our TENG system. It is attributed that our gear-based TENG system could improve simultaneously the magnitude as well as the generation time of output power, finally enhancing output energy. Therefore, our gear-based TENG system provided an effective way to enhance the PCE of TENGs operating at a given input energy.
This paper proposes a control method for maintaining the energy level for a supercapacitor energy storage system coupled with a wind generator to stabilize wind power output. Although wind power is green and clean energy source, disadvantage of the renewable energy output power is fluctuation. In order to mitigate the fluctuating output power, supercapacitor energy storage system (SCESS) and wind power simulator is developed. A remaining energy supercapacitor (RESC) control is introduced and analyzed to smooth for short-term fluctuating power and maintain the supercapacitor voltage within the designed operating range in the steady as well as transient state. When the average and fluctuating component of power increases instantaneously, the RESC compensates fluctuating power and the variation of fluctuating power is reduced 100% to 30% at 5kW power. Furthermore, supercapacitor voltage is maintained within the operating voltage range and near 50% of total energy. Feasibility of SCESS with RESC control is verified through simulation and experiment.

Output fluctuation which is generated in wind power farm can hinder stability of total power system. The electric energy storage (EES) reduces unstable output, and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) of various EESs has the proper performance for output compensation of wind power farm since it charges and discharges large scale power quickly with high efficiency. However, because of the change of current within SMES, the electromagnetic losses occur in the process of output compensation. In this paper, the thermal effect of the losses that occur in SMES system while compensating in wind power farm is analyzed. The output analysis of wind power farm is processed by numerical analysis, and the losses of SMES system is analyzed by 3D finite element analysis (FEA) simulation tool.
Fuel cell systems offer high energy efficiencies for transportation application. In addition, they can use alcohols and alternative fuels as the fuel, while producing little or no noxious emissions. Fuel cell-powered energy source should be competitive in performance characteristics and in capital and maintenance costs with internal combustion engine systems. From computer simulation program, battery and fuel cell energy output and total power profile, motor power, battery energy output, fuel cell energy output. It simulates the performance of fuelcell/battery powered energy source operation over any user inputted transit route cycle, and provides performance criteria through user specifications for preliminary design consideration.
The output energy of Rh-6G dye laser was enhanced by the energy transfer in the mixture of Rh-6G and C-545. The laser was pumped by coaxial flashlamp filled argon gas. The optimum concentration of Rh-6G was $10_-4mol/l$ without mixing. The output energy was enhanced about 70 % at 0.4 % C-545 mixture with respect to the concentration of Rh-6G. The peak output power and the output energy were 27 kW and 50 mJ at the pumping energy of 346 J.

Using piezoelectric elements to harvest energy from ambient vibrations has been of great interest over the past few years. Due to the relatively low power output of piezoelectric materials, there are many study to improve the energy harvesting efficiencies. This paper is study the efficiencies of the output energy considering the cantilever piezoelectric bimorph using aluminum vibration beam. when the length of vibration beam and the piezoelectric body becomes same and the maximum output power comes out. DC voltage was increased as the beam thickness and vibration frequency was increased. The vibration beam was able to achieve very large energy value.

Multiple output converters can be utilized when various output voltages are required in applications. Recently, one of the multiple output converters called fly-buck has been proposed, and has attracted attention due to the advantage that multiple output can be easily obtained with a simple structure. When constant on-time (COT) control is applied, the output ripple voltage must be treated carefully for control stability and voltage regulation characteristics in consideration of the inherent energy transfer characteristics of the fly-buck converter. This study analyzes the operation principle of the fly-buck converter with a ripple generation network and presents the design guideline for the improved output voltage regulation. Validity of the analysis and design guideline is verified using a 5 W prototype of the COT controlled fly-buck converter with a ripple generation network for telecommunication auxiliary power supply.

When the RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards) becomes effective in 2012, the use of renewable energy will be dramatically increased. However, there are no production simulations and demand supply programs that reflect the characteristics of the renewable energy. This paper analyzes correlations of the domestic wind power and solar power generation pattern in different areas and those of these sources' output and load pattern. Based on the regional correlation analysis, an appropriate method that uses a average output of the renewable energy or another modeling that takes account of uncertainty could be selected. Because it's output is dependent on weather condition, we can not control the generation of renewable energy, that is the reason why the correlation between the load and output pattern of sources can be helpful to determine whether the renewable energy is modeled as a generator or load modifier. Through this analysis, a basis will be provided in order to properly model the renewable energy source.
