Postal Dosimetry Audits for the Domestic Medical Linear Accelerator

  • Purpose: The objective of this study is to perform Postal dosimetry audits for medical linear accelerators in radiation therapy institutions using glass dosimeters and Gafchromic film reading systems and postal dosimetry audit procedures, and to evaluate radiation therapy doses and mechanical accuracy in medical institutions. Methods: Photon output measured and analyzed using a standard phantom for measuring photon output dose using a glass dosimeter for medical linear accelerators. Mechanical accuracy was measured and analyzed using software for film measurement. Results: Measurement and analysis of photon beam output dose using a standard phantom glass dosimeter for photon beam output dose measurement was completed. All tolerance doses were within 5%. Mechanical accuracy measurement and analysis using a standard phantom for verifying the mechanical accuracy of linear accelerator (LINAC) using a Gafchromic film were completed, and all results were shown within tolerances (2 mm or less). Conclusions: In this study, Postal dosimetry audits were performed on the output dose and mechanical accuracy of photon beams (207 beams) for 106 LINACs from 48 institutions. As a result of corrective action and re-execution, it was confirmed that all engines met the acceptable standard within 2 mm in the linear accelerator.

Online output power measurement of full-bridged MOS-FET RF power inverter operating at shortwave frequency

  • An online RF power measurement is needed for the full-bridged MOS-FET RF power inverter because the output current and/or voltage waveform is other than sinusoidal. In order to satisfy the requirement, the online measurement of the output power of this type of RF power inverter by the use of the PC-98 personal computer has been presented. The current and voltage waveforms are sensed by the digital oscilloscope probes so as to obtain the instantaeous power and they are entered into the PC98 personal computer so as to average the instantaneous powers. The RF power of up to 1 kw at 1 MHz measured for the power inverter at the output transformer. This method was confirmed to be applied to evaluate the load resistance change with temperature.

간호사의 수분 섭취배설량 측정에 대한 인식도와 수행도 (Nurses' Perception and Practice of Fluid Intake and Output Measurement)

  • Purpose: This research aimed to identify levels of nurses' perception and practice of fluid intake and output (I & O) measurement and to explore the relationship between perception and practice of it. Methods: Using a cross-sectional survey design, 195 nurses who practiced fluid I & O measurement were recruited from a general hospital. Nurses who agreed to participate in this study completed a structured study questionnaire to assess their levels of perception and practice of fluid I & O measurement. Results: A level of perception of I & O measurement was high (3.46 points out of 5), and scores for 3 subdomains of I & O (importance, accuracy, and efficacy) were evenly high. The level of practice of I & O was fairly high (3.76 points out of 5). Perception and practice of I & O were highly correlated (r=.73, p<.001). Conclusion: Nurses seem to have higher levels of perception and do practice fluid I & O measurement correctly. In order to have reliable and valid I & O measures, nurses need to have continuous education on I & O measurement based on clinical guideline to utilize it as an invaluable clinical instrument.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of remote vibration measurement system using the internet. Recently, various techniques are developed based on the advance of the internet environment. In this study, we developed the remote vibration measurement system using the internet server programming technique, the client programming technique, the GPIB programming, and the A/D, D/A programming techniques. Hence, we can control the measurement devices remotely. The feasibility of the system is validated using the experimental setup. The output of the D/A is connected to the small exciter and the piezoceramic sensor is connected to the A/D port. By sending out the exciting signal to the structure, we can collect the response. The experiment shows that the proposed idea works well. Another experiment consists of the function generator and the low-pass filter circuit. The wave form, amplitude, and the frequency of the function generator is controlled by the GPIB program and the output of the circuit is collected by the A/D port. The output is then displayed in HTML format.

인체에서 Pick 원리 및 열희석법에 의한 심박출량 측정의 비교 연구 (Comparison of Cardiac Output Determination by Direct Fick and Thermodilution Method in Man)

  • Measurement of cardiac output by thermodilution method is easy to perform and can be repeated at very short intervals and offers a number of theoretical and practical advantages. The purpose of this paper is to reevaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of the thermodilution cardiac output by comparing the results with those obtained by the direct Fick technique. From January through April 1981 [4 months], 26 simultaneous cardiac output measurements were made using thermodilution and direct Fick methods in 12 patients in the intensive care unit of Severance Hospital following open heart surgery. The average age of the patients was $34.8{\pm}12.0$ [SD] years [range; 17-57 years]. For cardiac output determination by thermodilution technique [$CO_TD$], a Swan-Ganz Thermodilution Catheter, Model 93A-131-7F [Edwards Laboratories], a Cardiac Output Computer, Model 9520A, and Strip Chart Recorder, Model 9810 [Edwards Laboratories] were used. For the determination of cardiac output by direct Fick principle [$CO_Fick$], a Van Slyke Manometric Apparatus [Thomas] for the measurements of arteriovenous oxygen content difference and a Collin`s Respirometer with Kymograph for the measurement of oxygen consumption were used. The correlation between the simultaneously measured $CO_TD$ and $CO_Fick$ was found to be $CO_Fick$ = 0.95.$CO_TD$ + 0.1073, [r= 0.9777, P < 0.001 ]. For 26 double or triple determinations of $CO_TD$, the values ranged from 1.77 L/min to 6.66 L/min, with a reproducibility of 2.18%. The maximum difference of $CO_TD$ for $CO_Fick$ was between +11.99% and -12,99% [$Mean{\pm}SD$ = $6.07{\pm}3.97$%]. Measurement of cardiac output by thermodilution method provides a simple, rapid, reproducible and highly accurate method for multiple cardiac output measurements suitable for use at the bedside.   • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil(R&CR) motion measurement method using linear variable differential transformers(LVDT). The output of a LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the 2nd transformers. As a sensor core is attached at the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the core motion. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measure from the core length. With a comparison between the measurement result and the known value which is obtained by the precision steel tape, the accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed scheme is validated.

  • This paper presents two fast least-squares lattice algorithms for adaptive nonlinear filters equipped with bilinear system models. The lattice filters perform a Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of the input data and have very good numerical properties. Furthermore, the computational complexity of the algorithms is an order of magnitude snaller than previously algorithm is an order of magnitude smaller than previously available methods. The first of the two approaches is an equation error algorithm that uses the measured desired response signal directly to comprte the adaptive filter outputs. This method is conceptually very simple`however, it will result in biased system models in the presence of measurement noise. The second approach is an approximate least-squares output error solution. In this case, the past samples of the output of the adaptive system itself are used to produce the filter output at the current time. Results of several experiments that demonstrate and compare the properties of the adaptive bilinear filters are also presented in this paper. These results indicate that the output error algorithm is less sensitive to output measurement noise than the squation error method.

  • The laser interferometer has been used for measurement of the micro displacement error. Although the laser interferometer is widely accepted as a tool for measurement of motion accuracy, the set-up procedure is time-consuming because of the strict requirement on alignment between a laser head and optic units. This paper addresses the development of a laser interferometer to measure the micro displacement for a micro machine. The portable laser interferometer which integrates a laser probe and optics, is developed for the convenient measurement. For the experiment, moving mirror set up on the micro stage. The velocity decoding board is also added to calculate doppler shift frequency directly. The output signal is obtained and analyzed by LabView. Finally experiments are found out the relation between micro displacement and output signal.

  • 방사선 종양학과에서 실시하고 있는 일일 정도관리 항목인 out put laser alignment, field size, SSD indicator 점검을 간편하고 정확하게 할 수 있도록 phantom 모양의 daily check device를 설계하고 제작하였다. 본 장치를 사용하여 4개월(2005. $2\~5$)월 동안 4대의 선형가속기 일일 정도관리에 사용한 곁과 측정과정이 편리하고 시간이 단축되어 일일점검의 효율성이 향상 되었고, 출력선량 측정은 각 장비별로 ${\pm}\;2\%$ 이내였으며 laser, field size, SSD indicator 는 ${\pm}\;1mm$ 이내의 범위에서 측정되었다. 일일 정도관리 기록을 기초로 하여 월간, 연간 정도관리의 객관적인 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있었다. 제작된 daily check device는 기존 상품화된 고가의 측정 장비를 대체 사용가능하게 함으로써 비용절감 효과가 기대되며, 향후 장치 재질의 견고성 및 가벼운 소재의 개발이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

PSD의 출력특성향상을 위한 경사 입력광의 특성해석에 대한 기본연구 (Basic Study of the Improvement of PSD Output by Inclined Light Input)

  • In this paper, the output characteristics of PSD(Position Sensetive Detector) used in measurement system are described. Most of the precision measurment systems are accomplished by a laser diode(LD), a photo diode(PD) and PSD(Position Sensetive Detector), which are used in reflection of mirror or projection of infrared spectrometer. But it is especially restricted by resolution of PD and PSD in nano-measurement. A new inclined light methods into the PSD are employed in the surface measurement system for increasing the resolution. As the results, we can know that the output characteristics of detective senser (PSD) become more than 2 or 3 times by changing inclined angle(range: 5 degree) compared with common angle. In addition, the experiment results are confirmed that the change of inclined angle is not affecting to the linearity and repeating.
