Purpose: This study set out to use a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design to develop a highly motivating CPR program for help care workers who lack CPR education, and to evaluate its effects on their knowledge about program application, attitude, and self-efficacy. Methods: For this purpose, 140 questionnaires were administered to subjects who underwent training at an educational institution for care workers in S city and G province. The program was developed from April, 25 to May, 15 in 2016, and the evaluation period was from May to July, 15. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS version 23, and a paired t-test was conducted. Results: The program spanned 240 minutes, including 80 minutes on theoretical education and 160 minutes on practical education. Knowledge of CPR in the post-test proved to be higher than that in the pre-test, from 6.4 to 9.2 (t=-15.72, p<.001),; the score on attitude increased from 38.4 to 41.7 (t=-5.89, p<.001),; and self-efficacy increased from 41.0 to 66.7 (t=-21.83, p<.001). Purpose: This study aims to reveal violence victimization of visiting nurses and investigate the coping and prevention strategies adopted by public institutions. Method: The data were collected over three weeks in 2017 using self-report questionnaires from 237 visiting nurses. Data were collected between August 23 and September 15, 2017. Result: Among the respondents, 74.7% had experienced some types of work-related violence during the past year. Verbal abuse (65.4%) was most common, followed by physical threat (46.8%), sexual abuse (43.9%), and physical violence (5.5%). The nurses perceived the most common cause of violation as socio-economic frustration of the offenders vented out on the nurses. Besides, most reported offenders had mental health problems. The two most effective measures to prevent violence faced by the nurses are terminating visiting services for the offenders and implementing the buddy system, which has rarely been used in practice. Conclusion: These findings show that visiting nurses are exposed to a risk of serious abuse in everyday work life, and the nurses themselves or institutions have failed to handle the violence, showing shaky responses at best. Therefore, it is necessary to establish internal regulations and systems at the institutional level that can help prevent violence against visiting nurses.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized education protocol for peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods: First, the demand for education was investigated from the 27 patients on peritoneal dialysis and 16 guardians, and later, the standardized nursing education protocol has been developed through the comprehensive literature review and the critical analysis of the related studies. Contents validity and applicability have been tested through the expert group survey. Results: The standardized peritoneal dialysis nursing education protocol with 9 areas and 20 items has been developed. The content validity for timing and duration, contents, method, and place of education proposed by the protocol were all above than 0.8. In terms of the applicability of the protocol, the experts scored between 4.20 to 4.93 for all items except one. The item on home visit education acquired the lowest applicability score, because there might exist potential restrictions in visiting patient's home. Conclusion: The standardized education protocol developed in this study turned out to be adequate by representing high content validity for all items and the applicability also was high except the item on home visit education. Further researches to test the effects of this education protocol should be done.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify nursing college students' attitudes towards death and was conducted as a pre-investigation to prepare them for coping with terminally ill patients in their clinical practice. Methods: The subjects consisted of 321 nursing students. Their attitudes towards death were measured by using the Collett-Lester Fear of Death Scale(CLFODS). The data obtained were analyzed by using the one-wayANOVA and Duncan's multiple test using the SAS 9.2 soft ware program. Results: The mean CLFODS score was 2.99. Among the 4 subscales, there were significant differences among the students with respect to grade, indirect experience of death, social isolation, daily life stress, and suicidal ideation in the past year. Conclusion: A negative attitude towards death was observed in the psychosocial characteristics, with indirect experience of death, social isolation, daily life stress, and suicidal ideation in the past year. It is necessary to educate students on how to care for dying patients before clinical practice. This education can be carried out by developing a death education program after considering the above mentioned psychosocial characteristics noted in this study.

Purpose: This study aimed to describe Korean nursing home nurses' perceptions on dysphagia management and their working experiences of older adults with dysphagia. Methods: Using a purposive sampling design, 23 eligible nurses were interviewed as four focus groups from 4 facilities out of nursing homes. The qualitative data from focus group interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis to classify common themes into larger categories. Results: Two main themes on the attributes of caring nursing home residents with dysphagia were 'Need for nursing resources' and 'Need for support'. In addition, four subthemes emerged as a result of analysis: 'need for nursing protocols for assessing and managing dysphagia', 'need for emergency care skills of nurses and nurse assistants', 'need for prompt and accurate management by cooperation of physicians and therapists', and 'need for partnership upon comprehension of visiting family members concerning dysphagia'. Conclusion: Nursing home nurses fully recognized the importance of dysphagia management; however, they experienced substantial barriers due to lack of adequate nursing protocols or partnership with family caregivers, insufficient training for emergency care, and deficient support from medical staff. Development of nursing guidelines tailored to the nursing home context and based on partnership among medical experts and family caregivers is needed.
