In this paper, we study the coexistence of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems beyond 3G (B3G) and point-to-point (P-P) fixed service (FS) microwave systems. The advanced general analytical model derived via a power spectral density (PSD) analysis proposed in this paper has two advantages in comparison with the conventional minimum coupling loss (MCL) method. First, the interfering signal power that appears in the band of a victim system can be easily assessed without a spectrum emission mask. Second, when transmit power is not allocated to some subcarriers overlapping the band of the victim system in order to mitigate B3G OFDM-based systems interference with other systems, the general analytical model can successfully assess the interference from the B3G systems into FS systems, whereas the MCL method incorporating the spectrum emission mask cannot be applied in the presence of the same interference condition. The proposed model can be derived in a closed form and is simply implemented with the help of simulation, and thus the solution can be obtained in significantly reduced time. Through application of the proposed model, coexistence results are analyzed in a co-channel and adjacent channel with respect to guard band and minimum separation distance.

This paper presents a method for point-based 3D building reconstruction using Lidar data and digital map. The proposed method consists of three processes: extraction of building roof points, identification of roof types, and 3D building reconstruction. After extracting points inside the polygon of building, the ground surface, wall and tree points among the extracted points are removed through the filtering process. The filtered points are then fitted into the flat plane using ODR(Orthogonal Distance Regression) in the first place. If the fitting error is within the predefined threshold, the surface is classified as a flat roof. Otherwise, the surface is fitted and classified into a gable or arch roof through RMSE analysis. Experimental results showed that the proposed method classified successfully three different types of roof and that the fusion of LIDAR data and digital map could be a feasible method of modeling 3D building reconstruction.

In order to make a doubly-cowed sheet metal effectively, the sheet metal forming process has been developed by adopting the flexibility of the incremental forming process and the principle of bending deformation which causes slight deformation in thickness. The developed process is an unconstrained forming process without holder. The experimental equipment has been set up with the roll set which consists of two pairs of support rolls and one center roll. In order to analyze process parameters in the incremental roll forming process for the application to doubly curved ship hull plate, the orthogonal array is adopted. From the FEM results, among the process parameters, the distance between supporting rolls in pairs along the direction of one principal radius of curvature as well as the forming depth is shown to influence the generation of curvature in the same direction significantly. That is, the other distance between supporting rolls in pairs which are not located in the same direction of one principal radius of curvature, does not have an significant effect on the generation of the curvature in that direction. Also, the forming load and torque from the FEM simulation are acceptable to the system development of the incremental roll forming process for the forming of ship hull plate.

This paper proposes an integer frequency offset estimation scheme robust to timing offset for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based cognitive radio (CR) systems. The proposed scheme exploits a feature that a sample distance between a continual pilot and a scattered pilot nearest to it in an OFDM symbol belongs to one of predetermined distances. First after calculating a correlation value of every continual pilot and its nearest scattered pilot. Then, it is divided into several groups according to the sample distances. Since correlation values with the same sample distance undergo the same effect of the timing offset, the effect of the timing offset can be removed by re-correlating these correlation values. From the simulation results we can confirm that the proposed algorithm estimates the integer frequency offset with the robustness to the timing offset when compared to a conventional scheme.

In this paper, we propose a novel energy efficient MAC protocol which is based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and exploits the physical characteristic that propagation loss of acoustic wave depends on the distance. In the proposed scheme, sensor nodes are grouped according to the distance to sink node. Then, each group uses a different frequency band. The proposed scheme not only enables all sensor nodes to maintain the signal-to-noise ratio above a certain required level (Accepted Minimum SNR, AMS), but also reduces overall transmission power consumption. In addition, the dynamic sub-channel allocation is employed in order to improve data transmission rate. Simulations show that proposed MAC protocol has better performance in a delay-tolerant underwater acoustic sensor networks.
In this study, a deep learning-based network that can predict the aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils was designed, and the feasibility of the proposed network was confirmed by applying aerodynamic data generated by Xfoil. The prediction of aerodynamic characteristics according to the variation of airfoil thickness was performed. Considering the angle of attack, the coordinate data of an airfoil is converted into image data using signed distance function. Additionally, the distribution of the pressure coefficient on airfoil is expressed as reduced data via proper orthogonal decomposition, and it was used as the output of the proposed network. The test data were constructed to evaluate the interpolation and extrapolation performance of the proposed network. As a result, the coefficients of determination of the lift coefficient and moment coefficient were confirmed, and it was found that the proposed network shows benign performance for the interpolation test data, when compared to that of the extrapolation test data.
This paper presents a novel shore-to-sea maritime data transmission system based on time-code diversity, using visible light in maritime environments to overcome the limitations of conventional maritime wireless communications. The proposed system is primarily comprised of existing LED-based lighthouses and maritime transceivers (marine beacons, buoys, etc.), and thus is considered cost-effective in terms of implementation. We first analyze maritime visible-light communications on the basis of the unique properties of a maritime environment, i.e. sea states (wave height, wind speed, etc.), plus atmospheric turbulence, using the Pierson-Moskowitz (PM) and JONSWAP (JS) spectrum models. It is found that the JS model outperforms the PM model, and that the coverage distance depends on the LED power and sea states. To combat maritime fading conditions that significantly degrade performance and coverage distance, we propose a time-code diversity (TCD) scheme in which the delayed versions of the original data are retransmitted using orthogonal Walsh codes. This TCD scheme is found to be superior, in that it offers three orders of magnitude in terms of BER performance, compared to a conventional (non-TCD) transmission scheme. The proposed scheme is robust and efficient in overcoming the effect of impairments present in maritime environments with a BER of approximately $10^{-5}$and a data rate of 100 Kbps at a distance of 1 km.

The crest factor distribution of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol sequences is evaluated and it is shown that OFDM symbol sequences with a short period are expected to have a high crest factor. The crest factor relationship between two input symbol sequences, Hamming distance D apart is also derived. Using these two results, we propose two criteria for a phase sequence set of the selected mapping (SLM) scheme and suggest the rows of the cyclic Hadamard matrix constructed from an m-sequence as the near optimal phase sequence set of the SLM scheme.

This paper proposes a systematic design for a precoding codebook for a transmit-ing space-division multiple access (TN-SDMA) sharing spectrum with existing fixed wireless service (FWS). Based on an estimated direction angle of a victim FWS system, an interfering transmitter adaptively constructs a codebook, forming a transmit in the direction angle, while satisfying orthogonal beamforming constraints. Sum throughput results indicate that the throughput loss of TN-SDMA relative to a practical SDMA, called per user unitary and rate control ($PU^2RC$), is lower at larger number of transmission antennas, lower signal-to-noise ratio, or a smaller number of users. In particular, a small loss (12% throughput loss) is provided for practical system parameters. Spectrum sharing results confirm that TNSDMA efficiently shares spectrum with FWS systems by reducing protection distance to more than 66 %. Although a TN-SDMA system always has lower throughput compared to $PU^2RC$ in non-coexistence scenarios; it offers an intriguing opportunity to re-use a spectrum already allocated to an FWS.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been focused on as 4th generation communication method for realization of Ubiquitous Network in land mobile communications services, and has been a standard technology of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a High Date Rate communication. And in maritime data communication using high frequency (HF) band, 32-point FFT OFDM system is recommended by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Maritime communication should be kept on connecting when maritime accident or the maritime disaster happen. Therefore, main device FFT should be operated with low power consumption. In this paper we propose a low power 32-point FFT algorithm using radix-2 and radix-4 for low power operation. The proposed algorithm was designed using VHSIC hardware description language (VHDL), and it was confirmed that the output value of Spartan-3 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) board corresponded to the output value calculated using Matlab. The proposed 32-point FFT algorithm will be useful as a leading technology in a HF maritime data communication.
