전자현미경내 마이크로 절삭의 화상처리에 의한 절삭 기구 해석 (Analysis of Cutting Mechanism by Image Processing on Micro-Cutting in SEM)

  • This research analyzes the cutting mechanism of A1100-H18 of commercially pure aluminum by image processing in SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) for the measurement of strain rate distribution near a cutting edge in orthogonal micro-cutting. The distribution is measured using various methods in order. The methods are in-situ observations of cutting process in SEM, inputting image data, a computer image processing, calculating displacements by SSDA(Sequential Similarity Detection Algorithm) and calculating strain rates by FEM. The min results obtained are as follows: (1)It enables to measure a microscopic displacement near a cutting edge. (2) An application of this system to cutting process of various materials will help to make cutting mechanism clear.

  • Three dimensional dynamic cutting can be postulated as an equivalent orthogonal dynamic cutting through the plane containing both the cutting vector and the chip flow velocity vector in cutting process. An analytical expression of dynamic cutting force is obtained from the cutting parameters determined by the static three dimensional cutting experiments. Particular attention is paid to the energy supplied to the vibration of the tool behind the vertical vibration and the direction. The phase lag of the horizontal vibration of the tool behind the vertical vibration and the direction angel of the fluctuating cutting force must be regarded in point of stability limits. Chatter vibration can effectively be suppressed by enlarging the dynamic rigidity of the cutting system in the vertical cutting force direction. A good agreement is found between the stability limits predicted by theory and the critical width of cut determined by experiments.

절삭날을 고려한 절삭가공면의 기계적 성질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical States of Machined Surface by Considering Cutting Edge)

  • Cutting edge plays an important role in generating machined surface. In order to consider the geometric effects of the cutting edge on mechanical states, the concept of ploughing force and stagnation point was introduced which explains the generating mechanism of machined surface during cutting. The effects of edge radius and nose radius of cutting tool on the distribution of residual stresses of the machined surface having several hardness were studied. Good machined surface having high compressive residual surface stresses can be achieved if cutting tools having large edge radius and small nose radius are used for cutting work materials having high hardness with high depth of cut. The magnitude of edge radius and the hardness of work material also affected the shape of the chip in orthogonal cutting.

채터상황에서 마모된 공구가 받는 절삭력 해석 (Cutting Force Analysis Under Chatter Condition with a Worn Tool)

  • The resultant cutting force during machining with a worn tool is viewed as a decomposition of the cutting force into a cutting force component related to chip removal from the workpiece and into a component dependent on the contact force between the tool flank's wear land and the workpiece. The shear line method, in which the cutting force is considered proportional to the length of the shear line, is used to calculate the cutting force component for the removal of the chip, while the elastic effect of the workmaterial on the tool is taken into consideration to analyze the effect of tool flank wear. The predicted resultant cutting force, expressed as the sum of both components, is compared to experimental data obtained during wave-on-wave cutting.

  • 본 연구에서는 버형성중의 파단을 파단전의 소성변형의 과정이 파단에 영향을 미치는 연성파단(ductile fracture)으로 간주하여 McClintock의 연성파단에 관한 모델 을 이용하여 버형성중의 파단변형도를 얻었다. 이 파단변형도가 인장시험으로부터 얻 은 파단변형도와 커다란 오차가 없음을 확인하여 편의상 인장시험에서의 파단변형도를 버형성중의 파단발생 판정기준으로 사용하였다. 버형성이 시작된 이후에 공구인선부 에서의 피삭재의 변위의 발달에 관한 모델이 제시되었고 파단변형도와 최대변형량과의 비교로부터 파단위치와 각도가 결정된다.

  • This study investigates the micro-cutting of cemented carbides using PCD(polycrystalline diamond) and PCBN(polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) cutting tools are performed with SEM direct observation method. The purpose of this study is to make clear the cutting mechanism of cemented carbides and the fracture of WC particles at the plastic deformation zone in orthogonal micro-cutting. And also to achieve systematic understanding, the effect of machining parameter on chip formation and machined surface was investigated, including cutting speed. depth of cut and various tool rake angle.

  • In this study a nondimensional parameter, feed/land length(F/L) was introduced, and using this parameter, cutting performance and chip breaking characteristics of the groove and the land angle type chip formers were assessed. Specific cutting energy consumed and shape of broken chip with its breaking cycle time were appraised to find out the ranges of F/L value where efficient cutting and effective chip breaking could be achieved. C type chip was found out to be the most preferable in terms of cutting efficiency.

2 차원 평판가공법을 이용한 고세장비 미세 격벽어레이구조물 가공 (Study on Machining High-Aspect Ratio Micro Barrier Rib Array Structures using Orthogonal Cutting Method)

  • The micro barrier rip array structures have been applied in a variety of areas including as privacy films, micro heat sinks, touch panel and optical waveguide. The increased aspect ratio (AR) of barrier rip array structures is required in order to increase the efficiency and performance of these products. There are several problems such as burr, defect of surface roughness and deformation and breakage of barrier rip structure with machining high-aspect ratio micro barrier rip array structure using orthogonal cutting method. It is essential to develop technological methods to solve these problems. The optimum machining conditions for machining micro barrier rip array structures having high-aspect ratio were determined according to lengths ($200{\mu}m$ and $600{\mu}m$) and shape angles ($2.89^{\circ}$ and $0^{\circ}$) of diamond tool, overlapped cutting depths ($5{\mu}m$ and $10{\mu}m$), feed rates (100 mm/s) and three machining processes. Based on the optimum machining conditions, micro barrier rib array structures having aspect ratio 30 was machined in this study.
