속도 감응형 가변 오리피스를 갖는 쇽업저버 개발 (Development of a Shock Absorber with an Orifice Sensitive to Velocity)

  • In this study, a shock absorber whose orifice area changes according to the oil pressure inside the absorber is developed. The orifice widens and narrows when the oil pressure is high and low, respectively; thus, the orifice area changes according to the oil pressure, in other words, according to the extension/compression velocity. It is well known that the damping force can be expressed as $C{\cdot}v^{\alpha}$. For fluid film damping, the force is proportional to velocity, i.e., ${\alpha}=1$, and for orifice damping, it is proportional to the square of velocity, i.e., ${\alpha}=2$. The shock absorber proposed in this paper can exhibit different relationships between the damping force and velocity because the orifice area changes according to the induced oil pressure. The motivation of this study is to develop a method for designing a shock absorber with desired values of C and ${\alpha}$ which is not just 1 or 2. Theoretical and experimental studies have been conducted to verify the damping characteristics of the shock absorber. The effect of some major design parameters on damping characteristics has been also examined to relate the design parameters to the damping characteristics.

  • 외부에서 인가되는 전류의 세기에 따라 결합력의 세기가 달라지는 자기점성유체의 특성을 이용한 자기점성 유체 댐퍼는 유체의 결합력을 통해 전단력을 발생시켜 진동의 제어가 가능하다. 자기점성유체 댐퍼의 성능을 좌우 하는 코일 작동부의 최적화를 위해 유한요소해석을 이용해 코일 형상에 따른 전자기력의 성능비교를 실시하였다. 또한 고효율 댐퍼를 제작하기 위한 방법으로 다단의 코일 작동부를 가지는 댐퍼를 제안하였으며, 기존의 댐퍼와의 전자기적 성능 비교를 통해 댐퍼의 성능 비교를 수행하고 제한된 조건에서 최대의 효과를 가질 수 있는 방안을 제시하고 그에 따른 전자기장 해석을 수행하였다.

조향계 유압 시미댐퍼의 성능해석 프로그램 개발 (Development of Performance Analysis Program for a Hydraulic Shimmy Damper of Steering System)

  • A program to analyze the performance characteristics of a hydraulic shimmy damper for automotive steering system was developed in this study. Dimensionless mathematical equations of the dynamics of shimmy damper for forward and reverse fluid flows were derived respectively and incorporated into the Simulink models. The program was validated by comparing the results of simulation and experiments for various frequencies of upstream ripple pressures into the damper. Low-pass filter characteristics of the shimmy damper at reverse flow was demonstrated which means that the shimmy damper could alleviate the high speed ripple pressures induced by the unbalance oscillation of tire in vehicle driving. The parameter sensitivity analysis was also conducted to identify the dominant parameters for the damper performance.

로터리 댐퍼의 토오크 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Torque Characteristics of Rotary Dampers)

  • Rotary dampers are damping devices which provide high resistance to shaft rotation. Rotary dampers are being used in various areas to enable the gentle opening and closing of the rotation motion relative to home furniture, industry machinery and automotive parts. Rotary dampers can be installed directly at the rotating point of a various part and can achieve uniform, gentle movement which increases quality and value of products. And generally, the silicone fluid is used as the damping medium because of its stable viscous properties. The movement of these little decelerators can be achieved with a high viscosity of working fluid and throttles installed in the body of the rotary damper. The damping force can be achieved clockwise, anti-clockwise or in both directions according to the structure of the orifices or throttles. In this paper, the torque performances of the rotary damper containing air in the working fluid were studied. For this purpose, the torque characteristic of the rotary damper according to the variation of various operating conditions such as clearance of leakage, dimensions of groove orifice, content ratio of air, etc., were simulated with AMEsim software.

  • 본 연구에서는 로켓엔진 연소기의 음향 불안정 억제를 위해 헬름홀츠 공명기의 음향학적 최적 설계 조건을 해석/실험적으로 연구하였다. 질량-스프링-댐퍼 시스템과의 유사성을 이용한 모델 식의 풀이를 통해 감쇠 성능을 정량화하였다. 헬름홀츠 공명기의 기하학적 형상 인자로 목의 길이와 공동의 크기, 목 및 공동의 직경을 선택하였다. 목의 길이가 짧아지고, 공동의 길이가 길어짐에 따라 흡음성능이 증가하고, 목과 공동의 직경비가 증가함에 따라 흡음성능은 감소하였다.

  • Typically, the seat of an automotive vehicle generally includes a horizontal seat-cushion portion and a vertical seat-back portion that is operatively connected to the seat-cushion portion. The seat may include a recliner for the reclining of the seat-back portion relative to the seat-cushion portion by the seat occupant. An energy absorber or damper can also be provided for the seat-back portion. Because the recliner is configured to be released at a relatively high speed, and it results in an impact at the end of a folding stroke, the damper needs to dissipate energy as the seat back moves with respect to the seat cushion; therefore, the role of the seat damper in the automotive-seat design is important. In this paper, the mechanism of an hydraulic-type automotive-seat damper is investigated, and the torque characteristic is simulated according to the design-parameter variations such as the orifice area and the working-fluid properties.

반능동 제어를 위한 MR 유체 댐퍼의 설계 (Design of MR Fulid Dampers for Semi-Active Control)

  • 대형 구조물의 진동제어를 위하여 MR 유체 댐퍼를 사용한 반능동 제어기법에 대하여 연구하였다. 기존에 많이 사용되고 있는 수동제어기법은 일단 제어장치를 설치한 후에는 구조물에 실제로 작용하고 있는 외부 하중의 현재 특성에 대해서 적절히 반응할 수 없다는 제한을 가지고 있으며, 이를 극복하기 위하여 연구되어온 능동제어기법은 구조물이 진동을 감소시키기 위하여 구조물에 직접적으로 가해지는 커다란 제어력을 요구하며, 이로 인해 경우에 따라서는 불안정한 상태가 유발될 수도 있다는 점이 단점으로 지적되고 있다. 최근에 Spencer 등은 반능동 제어기법을 제안하였는데, 이는 수동제어장치의 제어특성을 On-Line 으로 조절하는 방식으로서 제어 가능한 수동제어기법으로도 불리운다. 구조물의 진동제어에 필요한 제어력이, 특수한 제어기구에서 발생되는 인위적인 힘이 아니라, 적절한 구조부재에서 발생되는 자연적인 부재력이므로, 무엇보다 강인하고 신뢰할 수 있는 제어기법이며, 이때 제어장치의 구조적 특성을, 측정된 구조물의 응답에 맞추어 적절히 조절함으로써 다양한 외부하중에 대해 보다 효율적인 제어가 이루어질 수 있도록 한 방법이다. 반능동제어를 위한 제어기로서는 Variable Orifice Dampers, Friction Controllable Isolators, Variable Stiffness Devices, Electro-Rheological (ER) Fluid Damper, Magneto-Rheological(MR) Fluid Damper등이 제안되고 있으며, 본 논문에서는 반응속도가 빠르고, 적은 파워만을 요구하며, 커다란 제어력을 낼 수 있는 MR Damper를 사용하여 지진하중을 받는 구조물의 반능동 제어게 대하여 연구하였다. MR Damper의 특성이 비선형이므로 이에 적합한 Sliding Mode Fuzzy Control(SMFC)기법을 사용하였으며 이때 SMFC 의 최적 설계를 위하여 Genetic Algorithm을 적용하였다. 제안된 제어기법의 실제 적용성을 검증하기 위하여 기존이 제어결과와 비교 검토하였으며, 그 결과로부터 MR Damper를 사용한 반능동 제어기법이 구조물의 진동제어에 매우 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

유공압 회로를 이용한 자전거 포크용 가변댐퍼-공압스프링 서스펜션의 해석 (Analysis of a Variable Damper and Pneumatic Spring Suspension for Bicycle Forks using Hydraulic-Pneumatic Circuit Model)

  • The objective of this study was to present a damped pneumatic suspension, a bike fork suspension, which can adapt itself to incoming road excitations is presented in this paper. It consists of a hydraulic damper and a pneumatic spring in parallel with a linear spring. The study also proposed a variable and switchable orifice, in the hydraulic damper, to select appropriate damping property. Hydraulic-pneumatic circuit model for the bike fork suspension was established based on AMESim, in order to predict its performance. In addition, elastic-damping characteristics of the fork such as spring constant and viscous damping coefficient were computed and compared, for validation, with those evaluated by experiment using the universal test machine. Through simulation analysis and test, it was established that the hydraulic-pneumatic circuit model is effective and practical for development of future MTB suspensions.

농업용 트랙터의 프론트 로더 충격 저감을 위한 유압 회로의 설계 개선 (Improved Design of Hydraulic Circuit of Front-end Loader for Bump Shock Reduction of an Agricultural Tractor)

  • A front-end loader (FEL) mounted on an agricultural tractor is one of the most commonly used implements to mechanize routine agricultural tasks. When the FEL is used with a loaded bucket, careful operation is required to maintain safety and avoid spillage when the tractor passes a bump because a change in the gravity center of the tractor due to varied loadings can affect the stability of the tractor. Use of a boom suspension system consisting of accumulators and orifice dampers can be instrumental in reducing pitching vibrations while increasing the handling performance of the FEL-mounted tractor. The objective of this research was to reduce bump shocks by adding an orifice and a flow control valve to the original hydraulic circuit composed solely of accumulators. A simulation study was performed using the SimulationX program to investigate the effects of an accumulator and an orifice-throttle damper on bump shocks. Results showed that the peak pressure on a boom cylinder and the vertical acceleration of a bucket were significantly affected by use of both an accumulator and an orifice damper. In a field test conducted with a 75-kW tractor, the peak pressure of the boom cylinder, and the root mean square (RMS) vertical acceleration of the bucket and seat were reduced by on average, 23.0, 42.2, and 44.9% respectively, as compared to those measured with the original accumulator system, showing that an improved design for the accumulator hydraulic circuit can reduce bump shocks. Further studies are needed to design a tractor suspension system that includes the effects of cabin suspension and tires as well as dynamic analysis.
