In this work a thermodynamic performance analysis is carried out for a combined cycle consisted of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and a LNG cycle. The combined system uses a low grade waste heat in the form of sensible energy and the LNG cold energy is used for power generation as well as for heat sink. The effects of the key parameters of th system such as turbine inlet pressure, condensation temperature and source temperature on the characteristics of system are throughly investigated. The simulation results show that the thermodynamic performance of the combined system can be significantly improved compared to the normal ORC which is not using the LNG cold energy.

In this work, the open-drive oil free air compressor is modified to activate an organic Rankine cycle system as an expanding machine. The shape of the modified scroll expander case is a rectangular parallelepiped and the size of the case is $0.0394m^3$. The scroll expander is operated in an ORC using R245fa as working fluid with various working conditions for the performance test. The test data points are used to calculate the parameters of the scroll expander semi-empirical simulation model. The simulation results are compared with the experimental results to validate the simulation model.
The amount and quality of waste heat from a resource recovery facility were measured. The temperature of exhaust gas was $176.6^{\circ}C$ and the amount of that was 13.8 kg/s. This research designed a waste heat recovery system whose working fluid is R-245fa. It simulated three study cases as follows. In simulation of a basic ORC system, the turbine power output and thermal efficiency were respectively 96.56 kW, 14.3%. In simulation of a superheater connection, 0.09% of efficiency could be improved due to the increase of enthalpy by overheating of working fluid, but the obtained output was decreased with 16.58kW because of the decrease of working fluid mass. In simulation of a process heater connection, efficiency was increased up to 38.51%.

Experiments were conducted to determine the operating characteristics of a small-scale ORC (organic Rankine cycle) system for various low-temperature heat sources. A small-scale ORC power generation system adopting R-245fa as a working fluid was designed and manufactured. Hot water was used as the heat source, and the temperature was controlled using 110-kW electric resistance heaters that provided temperatures of up to $150^{\circ}C$. An open-drive oil-free scroll expander directly connected to a synchronous generator was installed in the ORC unit. Experiments were conducted by varying the rotational speed of the expander under the same heat source temperature conditions. The factors that influence the performance of the small-scale ORC system were analyzed and discussed.
ORC(organic Rankine cycle) has potential of reducing consumption of fossil fuels and has many favorable characteristics to exploit low-temperature heat sources. This work analyzes performance of ORC with superheating using low-temperature energy sources in the form of sensible energy. Maximum mass flow rate of a working fluid relative to that of a source fluid is considerd to extract maximum power from the sources. Working fluids of R134a, $iC_4H_{10}$ and $C_6C_6$, and source temperatures of $120^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$ are considered in this work. Results show that for a fixed source temperature thermal efficiency increases with evaporating temperaure, however net work per unit mass of source fluid has a maximum with respect to the evaporating temperature in the range of low source temperature. Results also show that the maximum power extraction is possible with R134a for the source temperature of $120^{\circ}C$, with $iC_4H_{10}$ for $200^{\circ}C$, and with $C_6C_6$ for $300^{\circ}C$.

In a gas engine, the exhaust and the engine cooling water are generated. The engine cooling water temperature is $100^{\circ}C$ and the exhaust temperature is $500^{\circ}C$. The amount of heat of engine cooling water is 43 kW and the amount of heat of exhaust is 21 kW. Eight different hybrid organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system configurations which considering different amount and temperature of waste heat are proposed for two gas engine tri-generation system and are thermodynamically analyzed. Simple system which concentrating two different waste heat on relatively low temperature engine cooling water shows highest thermal efficiency of 7.84% with pressure ratio of 3.67 and shaft power of 5.17 kW.

This study was performed to find out the possibility that hot waste water from a thermoelectric power plant can be applied to Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) by comparing the performance characteristics for use of the ocean surface water ($25^{\circ}C$) and hot waste water ($35^{\circ}C$) as a secondary fluid. The parameters considered in this study are four; superheating temperature, subcooling temperature, turbine efficiency, and pump efficiency. Main results of this study are summarized as follows : Overall efficiency of applying hot waste water to ORC is 87% higher than that of surface water. Thus it could be confirmed that hot waste water of the thermoelectric power plant can be applied to ORC.
In this study, for the purpose of reduction of $CO_2$ gas emission and to increase recovery of waste heat from ships, the ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle) is investigated and offered for the conversion of temperature heat to electricity from waste heat energy from ships. Simulation is performed with waste heat from the exhaust gasse which is relatively high temperature and cooling sea water which is relatively low temperature from ships. The result shows that 1,000kW power generation is available from exhaust gas and 600kW power generation is available from sea water cooling system. Different fluid is used for simulation of the ORC system with variable temperature and flow condition and efficiency of system and output power is compared.
It is becoming increasingly important to make use of alternative energy source. because It is not able to rely on only fossil fuel for the recent increasing demand of energy consumption. With this situation, lots of studies for utilizing low grade energy such as industrial waste heat, solar energy, and geothermal energy have been conducted. The aim of this study is to predict the operation characteristics of working fluid by using performance analysis program (ThermoFlex) through the system analysis which is not mixing district return water but using ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle, hereinafter ORC) as a downstream cycle when accumulating district heating (hereinafter DH). In this study, We conducted the performance analysis for the case which has the district heating water temperature($120^{\circ}C$) and Flow rate of $163m^3/h$ (including District Heating return water flow), and examined several working fluid which is proper to this temperature. The case using R245fa (which is the best-case) showed 269.2kW power output, 6.37% efficiency. Additionally, Cut down on fuel was expected because of the boiler inlet temperature increase by being Formed $57.3{\sim}85^{\circ}C$ in a temperature of district heating return water, depending on a pressure change of a condenser in ORC system.
