다층구조를 갖는 유기박막의 발광 및 전자물성 (Electroluminescence and Electronic properties of multi1ayer organic Thin Film)

  • The TPD and the $Alq_3$ film are widely used as a hole transport layer and an emitter layer respectively, in organic electroluminescent(EL) device (ITO Glass/TPD/$Alq_3$/metal). In this structure, we fabricated two models. Model(1) having ITO glass/$Alq_3$/Al structure and model(2) having ITO Glass/TPD/$Alq_3$/Al structure were fabricated by the vacuum evaporation. The comparison between model(1) and model(2) was made about the absorbance, the wave length, the current-voltage characteristic and the ln I - $V^{(1/2)}$characteristic respectively. Electroluminescence of green and wavelength of 510[nm] were observed in both model. We observed absorbance from 320[nm] to 430[nm] in $Alq_3$ material and from 250[nm] to 400[nm] in TPD material.

Electroluminescent Property of Tetrahydrochrysene as a Potential Emitting Layer in Organic Electroluminescent Device

  • As a potential electroluminescent material, tetrahydrochrysene (THC) is prepared using the dehydrocyclization following the acyloin condensation of methyl-3-phenyl propionate as key step from trans-mehyl cinnamate in 3 steps. THC showed emission at 428 and 456 nm after the photo- and electro-excitation, respectively. The luminance of THC doped on PVK was about /$25 cdm^2$ at 30 voltage with 70 nm of thickness. The results suggests that a new fluorescent organic dye, THC can be used organic electroluminescent device.

Improved Performance of White Phosphorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diodes through a Mixed-Host Structure

  • Highly efficient white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with a mixed-host structure are developed and the device characteristics are studied. The introduction of a hole-transport-type host (N, N'-dicarbazolyl-3-3-benzen (mCP)) into an electron-transport-type host (m-bis-(triphenylsilyl)benzene (UGH3)) as a mixed-host emissive layer effectively achieves higher current density and lower driving voltage. The peak external quantum and power efficiency with the mixed-host structure improve up to 18.9% and 40.9 lm/W, respectively. Moreover, this mixed-host structure device shows over 30% enhanced performance compared with a single-host structure device at a luminance of 10,000 $cd/m^2$ without any change in the electroluminescence spectra.

The fabrication of europium complex electroluminescence using BCP as hole blocking layer

  • A bright and highly monochromatic red organic electroluminescent device based on a poly(N-vinylcarbazole) host was made. The device structure consists of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) dispersed with a europium complex as an emitting layer and a hole blocking layer of 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BCP). The EL cell exhibited just characteristic emission of europium ion.

전자 주입층이 유기EL소자 효율에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Electron Injection Layer in Organic Electroluminescence Device Efficiency)

  • We investigated the effect of electron injection layer on the performance of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs). As an electron injection layer, the quinolate metal complexes were used. We optimized the device efficiency by varying the thickness of the quinolate metal complexes layer. The device with 1 nm of the quinolate metal complexes layer showed significant enhancement of the device performance and device lifetime. We also compared the effect of 8-hydroxyquinolinolatolithium (Liq) with that of bis(8-quinolinolato)-zinc ($Znq_{2}$) and 8-hydroxyquinolinolatosodium (Naq) as an electron injection layer. As a result, Liq is considered as a better materials for the electron injection layer than $Znq_{2}$ and Naq.

Solution-Processible Blue-Light-Emitting Polymers Based on Alkoxy-Substituted Poly(spirobifluorene)

  • Alkoxy-substituted poly(spirobifluorene)s and their copolymers with a triphenylamine derivative have been synthesized by Ni(0)-mediated polymerization. The polymers were well soluble in common organic solvents. Pure blue-light emissions without the long wavelength emission of poly(fluorene)s have been observed in the fluorescence spectra of polymer thin films. The light emitting diodes with a device configuration of ITO/PEDT:PSS(30 nm)/polymer(60 nm)/LiF(1 nm)/Al(100 nm) have been fabricated. The electroluminescence spectra showed the blue emissions without the long wavelength emission as observed in the fluorescence spectra. The relatively poor electroluminescence quantum yield of the homopolymer (0.017% @ 20 $mA/cm^{2}$) with color coordinates of (0.16, 0.07) has been improved by the introduction of triphenylamine moiety, and the copolymer with derivative exhibited an electroluminescence quantum yield of 0.15 % at 20 $mA/cm^{2}$ with color coordinates of (0.16, 0.08). Moreover, the introduction of polar side chains to the spirobifluorene moiety enhanced the device performance and led to the quantum yields of 0.6 to 0.7 % at 20 $mA/cm^{2}$, although there was some expense of color purities.

Electroluminescence characteristics of organic light-emitting diodes with TPD doped PVK as the hole transport layer

  • We have fabricated organic light-emitting diodes using poly(N-vinylcarbazole)(PVK) doped with N,N'- diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-[l,l'-biphenyl]- 4,4/-diamine (TPD) as the hole transport layer. TPD molecules act as the trapping sites in PVK and reduce the hole mobility, which can enhance the electronhole balance in the emitting layer, resulting in the enhanced device performance. We have found the optimum ratio of TPD to PVK for the EL efficiency.

  • In this paper, organic thin film LED(light emitting diode) having ITO glass/$Alq_3$/Al structure using an $Alq_3$ was fabricated by the vacuum evaporation and the absorbance, wave length, 1-V characteristics were investigated. Electroluminescence of green and wavelength of 510[nm] were observed in this device. We observed absorbance form 320[nm] to 430[nm] and knew unstability of $Alq_3$ material as light emitting device.

  • N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine(TPD)를 정공수송층으로, squarylium색소를 발광제로, 액정성 폴리머를 TPD의 matrix로 사용하여 electroluminescence(EL) 소자를 제작하였다. ITO 투명전극과 Mg 전극을 각각 홀주입, 전자주입 전극으로 사용하였다. Polymer/TPD 농도를 0.005 wt%로 하여 spin coating법으로 소자를 제작하였을 때 가장 안전한 ELD가 얻어졌다. ITO/polymer-TPD/SQ dye/Mg 구조의 ELD는 인가전압 23 volt에서 붉은색의 발광이 나타났으며 전류는 102 mA/$cm^2$이었다.
