The importance of display is becoming increasingly important due to the development of information and industry where it leads to diverse and abundant information in today's society. The demand and application range for FPD(Flat Panel Display), specifically represented by LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP(Plasma Display Panel), have been rapidly growing for its outstanding performance and convenience amongst many other forms of display. The current focus has been on OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) in the mobile form, which has just entered into mass production amid the different types of FPD. Many studies are being conducted in regards to device, vacuum evaporation, encapsulation, and drive circuits with the development of device as a matter of the utmost concern. This study develops a new type of light-emitting materials by synthesizing medical polymer organic chitosan and phosphor material CuS. Chitosan itself satisfies the Pool-Frenkel Effect, an I-V specific curve, with a thin film under $20{mu}m$, and demonstrates production possibility for a living body sensors solely with the thin film. Furthermore, it enables production possibility for EML of organic EL device(Emitting Layer) with liquid Green light emitting and Blue light emitting as a result of synthesis with phosphor material.
A self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) was developed to increase the dissolution rate, solubility, and ultimately bioavailability of a poorly water soluble drug, lovastatin. SMEDDS was thε mixtures of oils, surfactants, and cosurfactants, which emulsify under conditions of gentle agitation, similar to those which would be encountered in the gastro-intestinal (GI) tract. Various types of self-emulsifying formulations were prepared using four types of oil (Capryol 90, Lauroglycol 90, Labrafil M 1944 CS and Labrafil M 2125), two surfactants (Cremophor EL and Tween 80), and three cosurfactants (Carbitol, PEG 400 and propylene glycol). Thε efficiency of emulsification was studied using a laser diffraction size analyzer to determine particle size distributions of the resultant emulsions. Optimized formulations selected for bioavailability assessment were Carpryol 90 (40%), Cremophor EL (30%) and Carbitol (30%). SMEDDS containing lovastatin (20 mg and 5 mg) were compared to a conventional lovastatin tablet $(Mevacor^{\circledR},\;20\;mg/tab)$ by the oral administration as prefilled hard gelatin capsules to fasted beagle dogs for in vivo study. The arεa under the serum concentration-time curve from time zero to the last measured time in serum, $AUC_{0{\rightarrow}24h}$, was significantly greater in SMEDDS, suggesting that bioavailability increase 130% and 192% by the SMEDDS, respectively. The self-emulsifying formulations of lovastatin afforded the improvement in absolute oral bioavailability relative to previous data of lovastatin tablet formulation. These data indicate the utility of dispersed self-emulsifying formulations for the oral delivery of lovastatin and potentially other poorly absorbed drugs.
Fire can affect microbial community structure of soil through altered environmental conditions, nutrient availability, and biotic source for microbial re-colonization. We examined the influence of fire on chemical properties and soil enzyme activities of soil for 10 months. We also characterized the soil microbial community structure through ester-linked fatty acid analysis(EL-FAME). For this study, we established five burned plots(1*1 m) and 5 unburned plots outside the margin of fire. Soil was sampled three soil cores in a each plots and composited for analysis at 1, 3, 5, 8, and 10 month after fire. The fire caused an increase in soil pH, exchangeable Ca, and Mg, organic matter, available $P_2O_5$ compared to unburned sites. The content of $NH_4-N$ in burned site was significantly higher than that of unburned site and this effect continued for 8 months after fire. There was no difference of $NO_3-N$ content in soil between burned and unburned site. Fire caused no change in acid phosphatase and arylsulfatase activities but $\beta$-glucosidase and alkaline phosphatase activities in burned site were increased compared to unburned site. Microbial biomass as estimated by total concentration of EL-FAMEs in burned sites was significantly higher than that of unburned sites at one month after fire. Burned site decreased the EL-FAMEs indicative of gram-positive bacteria and tended to increase the fatty acid associated with gram-negative bacteria at one and three months after fire. The sum of EL-FAME compound $18:2{\omega}6,9c$ and $18:1{\omega}9c$ as served fungal biomarkers was decreased in burned site compared to unburned site.
In this talk, I will introduce two topics. The first topic is the polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) using graphene oxide quantum dots as emissive center. More specifically, the energy transfer mechanism as well as the origin of white electroluminescence in the PLED were investigated. The second topic is the facile synthesis of eco-friendly III-V colloidal quantum dots and their application to light emitting diodes. Polymer (organic) light emitting diodes (PLEDs) using quantum dots (QDs) as emissive materials have received much attention as promising components for next-generation displays. Despite their outstanding properties, toxic and hazardous nature of QDs is a serious impediment to their use in future eco-friendly opto-electronic device applications. Owing to the desires to develop new types of nanomaterial without health and environmental effects but with strong opto-electrical properties similar to QDs, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) have attracted great interest as promising luminophores. However, the origin of electroluminescence (EL) from GQDs incorporated PLEDs is unclear. Herein, we synthesized graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs) using a modified hydrothermal deoxidization method and characterized the PLED performance using GOQDs blended poly(N-vinyl carbazole) (PVK) as emissive layer. Simple device structure was used to reveal the origin of EL by excluding the contribution of and contamination from other layers. The energy transfer and interaction between the PVK host and GOQDs guest were investigated using steady-state PL, time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Experiments revealed that white EL emission from the PLED originated from the hybridized GOQD-PVK complex emission with the contributions from the individual GOQDs and PVK emissions. (Sci Rep., 5, 11032, 2015). New III-V colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) were synthesized using the hot-injection method and the QD-light emitting diodes (QLEDs) using these CQDs as emissive layer were demonstrated for the first time. The band gaps of the III-V CQDs were varied by varying the metal fraction and by particle size control. The X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) results show that the crystal states of the III-V CQDs consist of multi-phase states; multi-peak photoluminescence (PL) resulted from these multi-phase states. Inverted structured QLED shows green EL emission and a maximum luminance of ~45 cd/m2. This result shows that III-V CQDs can be a good substitute for conventional cadmium-containing CQDs in various opto-electronic applications, e.g., eco-friendly displays. (Un-published results).
We report a new series of blue dopants composed of both electron donating and electron accepting moieties in one molecule, based on nalidixic acid. The EL device derived from the dopant exhibits pure blue light emission (0.15, 0.14) The current efficiency is estimated to be 3.88 cd/A at 100 $cd/m^2$, which shows remarkable enhancement, compared to that of the host itself (2.5 cd/A at 100 $cd/m^2$) under the same conditions. These results demonstrate that the incorporation of a proper guest into the host in a guest-host doped system improves not only the purity of the fluorescent blue emission but also elevates its quantum efficiency, thus improving the OLED performance.

We report the fabrication and the characterization of white organic light-emitting devices consisting of a red-emitting layer of a new DCM derivative doped into 4,4'bis[N-(1-napthyl)-N-phenyl-amino]-biphenyl (${\alpha}-NPD$) and a blue-emitting layer of 1,4-bis(2,2-diphenyl vinyl)benzene (DPVBi). The device structure is ITO/PEDOT:PSS/${\alpha}-NPD$ (50 nm)/${\alpha}-NPD$:DCM (5 nm, 0.2 %)/DPVBi (x)/Alq3 (40 nm)/LiF (0.5 nm)/Al. The electroluminescence (EL) spectra consist of two broad peaks around 470 nm and 580 nm with the spectral emission depending on the thickness of DPVBi. The device with the DPVBi thickness of about 20 nm show a white light-emission with the Commission Internationale d'Eclairage(CIE) chromaticity coordinates of (0.33, 0.36). The external quantum efficiency is 2.6% and luminous efficiency is 2.0 lm/W at a luminance of 100 $cd/m^{2}$. The maximum luminance is about 30,270 $cd/m^{2}$ at 13.9 V.
For the full color organic electro-luminescent device, essentially, red, green, and blue emissions are required. But red emission is not to reach minimum level of practical use 31[lm/W]. In order to optimize color purity and power consumption requirements, it is important for the materials development efforts to search for improvements in red emission effisiency. In this study, the bis(8-oxyquinolino)zinc II ($Znq_2$) were synthesized successfully from zinc chloride($ZnCl_2$) as a initial material. Then, we fabricated red organic electroluminescent device with a dye(DCJTB)-doped and inserted $Znq_2$ between emission layer and cathode layer for increasing EL efficiency. The hole transfer layer is a N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis-(3-methyl phenyl) -1,1'-diphenyl-4.4'-diamine(TPD), and the host material of emission layer is $Znq_2$. For the inserting of $Znq_2$, efficiency increased.
In this study, multi layer type OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) has been fabricated using $Snq_2$, $Snq_4$, and $Alq_3$ for development of high efficiency, electrical and optical properties of multi layer type OLED investigated. The HTL(Hole Transfer Layer) and EML(Emitting Material Layer) were fabricated by using vacuum evaporation on ITO electrode, and its thickness controlled using thickness monitor. Al was used as a cathode. The electrical and optical properties such as J-V, brightness-V and EL spectrum of OLED device was measured using I.V.L.T system. The result, brightness of $Alq_3$, $Snq_2$ and $Snq_4$ were $3900cd/m^2$, $63cd/m^2$ and $23cd/m^2$ respectively.
Multi-layer organic electroluminescent(EL) devices with Al-CsF composite as a cathode were fabricated. This device privides low driving voltage and high quantum efficiency. CsF is evaporated onto and diffuse into electron transport layer. $Alq_3$. The Fermi level of $Alq_3$ moves towards the LUMO level.
