Objectives : TThe purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the oral health education experience of workers and their oral health awareness in an attempt to provide some information on corporate oral health education plans. Methods : The, subjects in this study were 230 workers in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, on whom a self-administered survey was conducted from August, 2010, to June 18, 2011. A frequency analysis was carried out to grasp the general characteristics of the 205 respondents, and x2-test(p). Results : 1. As for the relationship of the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of toothbrush involving optimum toothbrush size, 47.4 percent of those without educational experience thought that a toothbrush should be large enough to cover about two teeth(p<.018). 2. Regarding the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of fluoride, 59.1 percent of the respondents with educational experience perceived that dentifrice contained fluoride(p<.05). 3. Concerning the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of periodontal diseases including the cause of the diseases, 43.6 percent of the respondents with educational experience(p<.021). 4. As to the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of scaling, 50.2 percent of the respondents with educational experience and gingival diseases(p<.037). 5. In terms of the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of toothbrushing involving toothbrushing frequency, 36.8 percent of those without it considered it necessary to do toothbrushing three times a day(p<.045). Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings illustrated that there were differences among the workers in oral health awareness according to their oral health education experience. Therefore the development of systematic oral health education programs is required to promote the oral health of workers.
Objectives : This study is to dental knowledge and awareness of special education teachers. Methods : This study is conducted with a total of 244 special education teachers in Dae Gu, Gyeong Buk, Gyeong Nam, Bu San city from 1st April to 30th April, 2011. Results : More healthy state of oral health reflected higher point of oral health behavior. In the correlation among the oral health knowledge, behavior and education, higher oral health knowledge reflected higher oral health behavior. In the obstacle factors against oral health education, 41.0% was in the lack of professionalism and understanding of oral health education. The majority method for oral health education was regular teaching and the oral health in charge of education was school nurse 67.1%. The most important point for improvement for oral health class enabled was oral health recognition of teachers about the importance of education. Conclusions : For improving the oral health of the disabled, it is needed to develop the educational program or awareness of oral health monitoring like applying fluorine by special education teachers and parents, including the necessity of various oral health education development suitable for the special education school to make awareness in the importance and necessity of oral health.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the influencing factors on awareness toward oral health education in elementary school teachers. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 250 elementary school teachers in Jeollado and Chungcheongdo from October 6 to November 28, 2014. The questionnaire consisted of the general characteristics of the subjects, oral health knowledge, oral health beliefs, and oral health education awareness measured by Likert 5 point scale. Cronbach alpha was 0.699 in the oral health knowledge and 0.957 in the oral health beliefs. Results: Those who were more interested in the oral health education had the awareness toward the necessity of oral health education. Those who had a longer career of education tended to have the strong beliefs in oral health education. Conclusions: The elementary school teachers are the most important persons in the lifelong oral health education facilitator to the students. It is very important to provide the continuing oral health education program development for the elementary school teachers.
This Convergence study aimed to analyze the oral health education, oral health awareness and oral health knowledge of early childhood education' students. Questionnaire survey on the of five universities early childhood education' 314 students in Daegu and Gyeongbuk provinces. Average score of oral health awareness was 3.62, which was high female students, 3rd grade, athlete, high case on oral health condition perception and childhood oral health education experience. Oral health knowledge correct answer of 15 items was average 9.63, which was higher female students, 3rd grade, nonsmokers, have received childhood oral health education, responded to the need for childhood oral health education. Regression analysis showed that Y (oral health awareness) = 2.350 + 0.242 (exercise) +0.387 (oral health education) +0.134 (childhood oral health education experience) +0.067 (oral health knowledge). In order to promote infants oral health of department of Early Childhood Education, it would be necessary to develop the systematic programs to perform the childhood oral health education.
This research is intended to develop oral health education program that can improve quality of oral health of infants by investigating the actual condition of oral health education provided to students major in early childhood education and contents and method of oral health education that they needed. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 427 students enrolled in related departments such as the Early Childhood Education Division and the Early Childhood Education Department at five universities in Gyeongsangnam-do. Questionnaires consisted of general characteristics, awareness of oral health, presence of experience in oral health education, necessity of oral health education, preference for oral health education method, oral health education contents. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) Ver 20.0. 1. Presence of experience in oral health education based on the general characteristics showed statistically significant differences only concerning the 'school system' and the 'school year' (p<0.05), and subjective awareness of oral health based on the presence of oral health education experiences showed statistically significant differences concerning the 'interest in oral health' and the 'importance of oral health' (p<0.05). 2. Necessity of oral health education based on the subjective awareness of oral health showed statistically significant differences concerning the 'interest in oral health' and the 'importance of oral health' (p<0.05). 3. Necessity of oral health education based on the preference for oral health education method showed statistically significant differences concerning the 'intention to participate in oral health education' and the 'oral health education cycle' (p<0.05). 4. The most necessary information for oral health education is proper toothbrushing method 4.24, cause of tooth decay and prevention method 4.13, helpful food and poor food for tooth 3.97, toothbrush selection and storage method 3.85. Fluoride application and fissure sealant were lowest 3.38. As a result of this research, necessity of oral health education was large regardless of general characteristics, experience in oral health education, subjective awareness of oral health, and preference for oral health education. Also the more the 'interest in oral health' in 'subjective awareness of oral health', the more the 'necessity of oral health education' and 'intention to participate in oral health education'. Therefore it is necessary to develop systematic and repetitive oral health education for students major in early childhood education.

Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to examine factors contributing the quality of life related to oral heath such as level of oral health knowledge, subjective knowledge on oral health, awareness of oral health and OHIP-14, and furthermore to analyze any relations among these factors. Methods: The questionnaire survey was carried out on a convenience sample of 230 middle school students at the selected middle school in Chungcheongnam-do. T-test and one-way ANOVA and correlation test were conducted over the collected datas using SPSS 12.0(SPSS 12.0 KOR for Windows, SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA). Results: The results of the study are as follows: 1. 6.38 was average score for oral health knowledge and 10.0 was the maximum. Subjective oral health awareness scored of average 2.99 with maximum of 5.0. OHIP-14 corresponded to average 4.30 and maximum 5.0. 2. Different level of oral heath knowledge was resulted from that of education, which means the greater level of oral health knowledge indicated greater awareness of oral health. 3. OHIP-14 was higher for those who lived with their parents than those who in did not(P=0.012). 4. There exhibits a proportional relationship between subjective awareness of oral health and OHIP-14(r=0.297). Conclusion: It was found that subjective awareness of oral health partially influences to OHIP-14. In other words, subjective awareness of oral health has an effect on the quality of life related to oral health. Hence, there needs more effort on oral health education and oral disorder prevention activities in order to improve subjective awareness of oral health.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of elementary school teachers on oral health and oral health education by position and teacher carrer in an effort to provide information on oral health awareness and oral health education. Methods : This survey was conducted on 320 elementary school teachers in Jeollabuk-do from July 2 to 19, 2012. 296 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The collected date was analyzed using the statistical package SPSS WIN 13.0. Results : As for self-rated oral health status and concern for oral health by teacher career, the teachers who had a less than six years of career considered themselves to be unhealthier and were more concerned about oral health. Regarding oral health knowledge by position and career, those who were homeroom teachers and who had a less than five years of career had a better knowledge on oral health. Concerning concern for oral health education and the necessity of oral health education, the homeroom teachers were more concerned about oral health education and were better cognizant of the necessity of that education. In relation to teaching ability for oral health, the homeroom teachers found themselves to be more capable of providing oral health education than the non-homeroom teachers. Conclusions : The improve concern and recognition of oral health for the members, the elementary school students needs to develop oral health education and policy.
Purpose. Infant oral health care forms the basis of lifelong health, and the role of child care teachers in contributing to the quality level in the formation of correct habits at this time throughout the infant's health care and education is very important. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the perceived oral health status of nursery teachers and the necessity of oral health education, and to emphasize that the oral health of teachers is closely related to the oral health of infants and young children. Methods. This study was conducted from May to June 2018 by surveying private nursery teachers in some parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do province by using the self-entry method. The research tools consisted of the general characteristics of subjects, subjective oral health status, oral health practice, oral health education awareness, and oral health education needs. We used shceffe as a post hoc test to compare the differences between groups after frequency analysis, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA analysis. The linear regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between perceived oral health status, oral health practice and awareness, and oral health education needs. The statistical level was .05. Results. According to the results of this study, the oral health related practice according to the demographic characteristics is at the final education level, and the oral health related awareness is age, marital status and oral health education needs. The results showed statistically significant differences in final educational attainment and cohabitation. Regarding the relationship between perceived oral health status, oral health related practice and awareness, and oral health education needs There were significant differences in oral health practice(β =.329) and oral health education needs (β =.158). Conclusion. Objectives : The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for the development of oral health education program and to make schoolchildren practice the right oral health care behaviors. Methods : Data were collected from 259 elementary school students including 134 boys and 125 girls in Busan from November 26 to December 20, 2012. The groups were tooth brushing group and dental clinic group. All statistical analyses were analyzed by frequency analysis and chi-square test using SPSS 18.0 program. Results : School dental clinic group showed higher awareness level of fluoride and sealant effect of prevention(p=0.000). Toothbrushing facility group showed higher awareness level of brushing tooth(p=0.011). School dental clinic group showed higher awareness level of fluoride toothpaste(p=0.000). Both school dental clinic group and toothbrushing facility group showed higher awareness level of oral health education(p=0.001). School dental clinic group showed higher awareness level for tooth brushing method after education(p=0.000). Both school dental clinic group and toothbrushing facility group showed higher level of education. Conclusions : School dental clinic group showed higher level for oral health knowledge and toothbushing facility group showed high level for oral health behavior. Both School dental clinic group and toothbrushing facility group showed higher level of oral health education and tooth brushing method after education. Both school dental clinic group and toothbrushing facility group proved to promote oral health. Activation of school toothbrushing facility is very important to change the oral health workforce.
Objectives : The purpose of the study was to provide the development of oral health promotion programs for the college students to improve oral health behavior. Methods : Subjects were 350 college students in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do from March to June, 2011. Except 9 incomplete copies, 341 data were analyzed. Results : 1. The college students got a mean of 4.08 in oral health awareness, and 3.54 in oral health care. 2. The correlation coefficient of the two was 0.618. Higher oral health awareness led to oral health care improvement (p<0.001). 3. Oral health awareness made a 38.1% prediction of oral health care. A rise of one score in oral health awareness was concurrent with a rise of 0.532 score in oral health care. Conclusions : Higher oral health awareness led to oral health care improvement, and that those who received oral health education tended to have higher awareness and care for oral health care.
