Using the design variables and conditions reported in the rut part of this paper, an analysis and optimum design of the tractor-rotary power driveline were carried out. The optimum design method involved 1 variable, 2 variable and multiple variable analysis performed as requested in the design process. In order to evaluate the effects of the design variables on the power transmission performance a sensitivity analysis were also conducted. the results indicated that the length and link point of the upper link, the upper hitch point of the implement master and the location of the implement input connection affect most significantly the driveline performance. The optimum design improved the performance of an exampled tractor-rotary driveline by 93% in terms of cosine ratio.
The purpose of this paper is the optimum modification of dynamic characteristics of stiffened plate structure including the number of stiffener. This paper shows the optimum structural modification method by dynamic sensitivity analysis and quasi-least squares method and considers it's validity. In the method of the optimization, finite element method, sensitivity analysis and optimum structural modification method are used. The change of natural frequency and total weight are made to be an objective function. Thickness of plate, the number of stiffener and cross section moment of stiffener become a design variable. The dynamic characteristics of stiffened plate structure is analyzed using finite element method. Next, rate of change of dynamic characteristics by the change of design variable is calculated using the sensitivity analysis. Then, amount of change of design variable is calculated using optimum structural modification method. It is shown that the results are effective in the optimum modification for dynamic characteristics of the stiffened plate structure including the number of stiffener.

The purpose of this study is the optimum modification of dynamic characteristics of stiffened plate structure. In the method of the optimization ,finite element method (FEM), sensitivity analysis and optimum structural modification method are used. To begin with, using FEM, the dynamic characteristics of stiffened plate structure is analyzed. Next, rate of change of dynamic characteristic by the change of design variable is calculated using the sensitivity analysis. Then, amount of change of design variable is calculated using this sensitivity value and optimum structural modification method. The change of natural frequency is made to be an objective function. Thickness of plate and cross section moment become a design variable. It is shown that the results are effective in the optimum modification for dynamic characteristics of the stiffened plate structure.

This study performed the optimum design of balanced and unbalanced span length bridges with many variable Girder types by using the optimum design program to minimize the cost for PSC box girder bridge of the full staging method. The objective of this study is to present tendon's application direction about complicated construction hereafter by studying about optimum tendon arrangement that is worked in each variable Girder type. This program used SUMT procedure and Kavlie's extended penalty function to allow infeasible design points in the process. Powell's direct method was used in searching design points and Gradient Approximate Method was used to reduce design hours.

Industrial products determined by fixed size posses definite limits variety by manufacture tolerance in existence. The optimum value solved by deterministic approaches do not account of tolerance bands of design variables and material properties. If we examine optimum value considering tolerance bands of design variables and material properties, it might be useless, owing to exist infeasible region. We have two ways to prevent being useless value. The one is to minimize tolerance band, the other is to consider tolerance band in optimum design. The former needed more accuracy during manufacturing process require higher production cost, the letter is more appropriate to consider tolerance band. In this research, we consider the tolerance bands of all variables, which might have the tolerance bands used in the problem, based on optimum value of deterministic approaches. Orthogonal arrays are used to minimize the number of trial. Tolerance bands are supposed discretionary according to design variable. Appropriateness suggested by this research is examined through two examples. Mathematical problem is investigated only in terms of tolerance bands of design variables, and cantilever beam problem is explained through tolerance bands of design variable, material properties and loading conditions. It is proved that values from the presented method are satisfactory for tolerance bands of variables.

Typical temperature control methods of a cooler for machine tools are hot-gas bypass and compressor variable speed control. The hot-gas bypass system has been widely used to control the cooler temperature in many general industrial fields. On the contrary, the compressor variable speed control is focused on special fields such as aerospace and high precision machine tools which need high precision control. The variable speed control system usually has two control variables such as target temperature and superheat. In other words, the variable speed control system is basically multi-input multi-output(MIMO) system. In spite of MIMO system, the proportional integral derivative(PID) feedback control methodology that based on single-input single-output (SISO) system is generally used for designing the variable speed control system. Therefore, it is inevitable to describe transfer functions for dynamic behaviors of every controlled variables and decide the PID gains with tremendous iteration process. Moreover, the designed PID gains do not provide optimum system performances. To solve these problems, high performance controller design method based on a state space model is suggested in this paper. An optimum controller is designed to minimize both control errors and energy inputs. This method was more simple to describe dynamic behaviors and easier to design the cooler controller which is MIMO system.
In this study, an automated optimum design program for steel box girder bridges has been developed for the optimum design of composite steel box girder bridges. The design constraints required for the optimum design of steel box girder bridges are based on the Korean standard bridge specification. Considering characteristics of steel box girder bridges, several approximation techniques, such as artificial constraint deletion, variable linking and stress reanalysis technique etc. are also introduced to enhance the efficiency of optimization. The developed program is mainly composed of major sub-system modules including structural analysis module using commercial structural analysis program such as RM-SPACEFRAME, optimum design module, pre-process module for friendly user input, and post-processor module for office automation. In addition, in order to demonstrate the efficiency and applicability of the developed optimum design program for steel box girder bridges, a few numerical examples are applied. Based on the results of the application, it may be stated that the automatic optimum design program developed in this study can be a prototype model for the developement of optimum design program for other type of bridge.
This paper was developed the discrete optimum design program by the refined fuzzy-genetic algorithms based on the genetic algorithms and fuzzy theory. The optimum design of this paper can perform both size and shape optimum design for planar and spacial steel structures. In this paper, the objective function is the weight of steel structures and the constraints are the design limits defined by design and buckling strengths, displacements and thicknesses. The design variables are dimensions and coordinates of steel sections. Design examples are given to show the applicability of the discrete optimum design program of this paper.

Although many reliability analysis and reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) methods have been developed to estimate system reliability, many studies assume the uncertainty of the design variable to be constant. In practice, because uncertainty varies with the design variable's value, this assumption results in inaccurate conclusions about the reliability of the optimum design. Therefore, uncertainty should be considered variable in RBDO. In this paper, we propose an RBDO method considering variable uncertainty. Variable uncertainty can modify uncertainty for each design point, resulting in accurate reliability estimation. Finally, a notable optimum design is obtained using the proposed method with variable uncertainty. A mathematical example and an engine cradle design are illustrated to verify the proposed method.
