This study focuses on the crack-healing behavior and bending strength of SiC ceramics with sintering additives of $SiO_2$colloid. Optimized crack-healing condition was found to be 1hr at an atmosphere of 1373 K. The maximum crack size that can be healed at the optimized condition was a semi-elliptical surface crack of $450{\mu}m$ in diameter. After heat treatment at the optimum temperature in air, the crack morphology almost entirely disappeared and the strength recovered to the value of the smooth specimens at room temperature for the investigated crack sizes up to $450{\mu}m$. The crack with width $1.4{\mu}m$ can be completely heal the surface crack.

The pi-cell [1] is known as one of the candidates for a fast response time and a good viewing angle characteristics due to a self-compensated configuration and can be a replaceable mode instead of the current TN mode and the IPS mode for moving picture in future. This paper shows the optimized condition to maintain bend state instead of splay state, which is mortal demerit for good optical properties in a pi-cell, by using the polymer stabilized method [2]. The good electro-optical characteristics are also obtained by optimizing the various factors, which are monomer concentration in a LC, UV intensity, curing time, curing voltage, and curing temperature, and by using retardation film. We use a scanning electron microscope to study the structures of the polymer stabilized polymer network in a pi-cell as a key to figure out why bend state is occurred.
A compact plasmonic switching scheme, based on the phase change of a thin-film chalcogenide material ($Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$), is proposed and numerically investigated at optical-communication wavelengths. Surface plasmon polariton modal analysis is conducted for various thicknesses of dielectric and phase-change material layers, and the optimized condition is induced by finding the region of interest that shows a high extinction ratio of surface plasmon polariton modes before and after the phase transition. Full electromagnetic simulations show that multiple reflections inside the active region may conditionally increase the overall efficiency of the on/off ratio at a specific length of the active region. However, it is shown that the optimized geometrical condition, which shows generally large on/off ratio for any length of active region, can be distinguished by observing the multiple-reflection characteristic inside the active region. The proposed scheme shows an on/off switching ratio greater than 30 dB for a length of a few micrometers, which can be potentially applied to integrated active plasmonic systems.
In this study, it was studies the utilization of LIT(lock-in infrared thermography) which can detect defects in welded parts of ship and offshore structures. Quantitative analysis was used through methods of filtering and texture measurement of image processing techniques to find the optimized experimental condition. We verified reliability in our methods by applying image processing techniques in order to normalize evaluations of comparative images that show phase difference. In addition, low to mid exposure showed good results whereas high exposure did not provide significant results in regards to intensity of light exposure on surface. Lock-in frequency was satisfactory around 0.1 Hz regardless of intensity of light source we had. In addition, having the integration time of thermography camera inversely proportional to intensity of exposed light source during the experiment allowed good outcome of results.
The final quality of the workpiece is affected by the grinding process that has been conducted in final manufacturing stage. However the quality-satisfaction of ground workpiece depends on the skill of an expert in this process. Therefore, the process models of grinding have been developed to predict the states according to grinding process. In this paper, in order to find the optimized grinding condition to reduce the manufacturing expense and to meet requirements of ground workpiece optimization algorithm using E.S.(Evolutionary Strategy) is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been employed to find the optimal grinding and dressing condition using the grinding process models and nonlinear grinding constraints. The optimized results also presents the guide line of grinding process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experimental results.
Hydrocarbostyril, which is a key intermediate in our new synthetic route to 6-nitroquipazine, can be prepared from 1-indanone oxime by Beckmann rearrangement. We have optimized the reaction by using a Lewis acid, aluminum chloride,in the yield of 91% instead of common acids such as polyphosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid used in conventional Beckmann rearrangement (20% in the literature, 10% in our experiment). The optimized condition is established by usingthree equivalents of aluminum chloride in CH2Cl2 at -40 $^{\circ}C$ - room tempera-turefor 40 min. We have applied this condition to other 1-indanone derivatives, such as 4-methyl-, 4-methoxy-, 4-nitro and 6-nitro-1-indanones. The mechanism ofthis BR has been proposed on the basis of the effect of tem-perature and substituenton product ratio, with the aid of PM3 calculation for a model system.
Three free parameters included in a cumulus parameterization are optimized by using micro-genetic algorithm for three precipitation cases occurred in the Korea Peninsula during the summer season in order to reduce biases in a regional model associated with the uncertainties of the parameters and thus to improve the predictability of precipitation. The first parameter is the one that determines the threshold in convective trigger condition. The second parameter is the one that determines boundary layer forcing in convective closure. Finally, the third parameter is the one used in calculating conversion parameter determining the fraction of condensate converted to convective precipitation. Optimized parameters reduce the occurrence of convections by suppressing the trigger of convection. The reduced convection occurrence decreases light precipitation but increases heavy precipitation. The sensitivity experiments are conducted to examine the effects of the optimized parameters on the predictability of precipitation. The predictability of precipitation is the best when the three optimized parameters are applied to the parameterization at the same time. The first parameter most dominantly affects the predictability of precipitation. Short-range forecasts for July 2018 are also conducted to statistically assess the precipitation predictability. It is found that the predictability of precipitation is consistently improved with the optimized parameters.
또한 인식 모듈로서 pRBFNNs(Polynomial- based Radial Basis Function Neural Networks) 패턴분류기를 소개한다.
The optimal physical factors affecting enzyme production in an airlift fermenter have not been studied so far. Therefore, the physical parameters such as aeration rate, pH, and temperature affecting PLA-degrading enzyme production by Actinomadura keratinilytica strain T16-1 in a 3 l airlift fermenter were investigated. The response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize PLA-degrading enzyme production by implementing the central composite design. The optimal conditions for higher production of PLA-degrading enzyme were aeration rate of 0.43 vvm, pH of 6.85, and temperature at $46^{\circ}C$. Under these conditions, the model predicted a PLA-degrading activity of 254 U/ml. Verification of the optimization showed that PLA-degrading enzyme production of 257 U/ml was observed after 3 days cultivation under the optimal conditions in a 3 l airlift fermenter. The production under the optimized condition in the airlift fermenter was higher than un-optimized condition by 1.7 folds and 12 folds with un-optimized medium or condition in shake flasks. This is the first report on the optimization of environmental conditions for improvement of PLA-degrading enzyme production in a 3 l airlift fermenter by using a statistical analysis method. Moreover, the crude PLA-degrading enzyme could be adsorbed to the substrate and degraded PLA powder to produce lactic acid as degradation products. Therefore, this incident indicates that PLA-degrading enzyme produced by Actinomadura keratinilytica NBRC 104111 strain T16-1 has a potential to degrade PLA to lactic acid as a monomer and can be used for the recycle of PLA polymer.
This paper proposes a field weakening control method for operating an induction motor with a variable DC input voltage condition. In the variable DC voltage condition such as a battery, the field weakening method are required for the maximum output power. The conventional field weakening control methods can be used for operating the induction motor over the rated speed in a constant DC-link voltage condition. However, the conventional methods for operating the motor with the variable DC voltage is not suitable for the maximum output power. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes the optimized field weakening control method to extend the operating range of the induction motor with a rated power in a limited thermal and a wide DC input voltage conditions. The optimized d-axis and q-axis current equations are derived according to the field weakening region I and II to extend the operating region. The experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
