Analysis on the improvement of Luminous Efficiency by Adding a small amount of Ar Gas in plasma display (PDP에서의 Ar Gas첨가시 효율 개선 경로에 관한 분석)

  • The optimal mixing condition of four components gas(Ne,Xe,He,Ar) in PDPs was caculated by a numerical simulation method. The dominated reactions in which $Xe^*(^3P_1)$ is produced and decays were investigated in three components gas (Ne,Xe,He) and our new components gas (Ne,Xe,He,Ar). A peak point of $Xe^*$ density appears in the range of 0.1% to 2% of Ar mixture ratio. The results of simulation show that the direct exitation of Xe by electrons has the greatest influence on the inceasing $Xe^*$ density in both gas mixtures.

  • Recently, construction materials have been guickly advancing. Especially, the rate of development of cement based construction materials is much quicker than steel or composite materials. In order to optimize the ductility and strength of cement based materials, Micro-Mechanics based fiber concrete called Engineered Cement Composite (ECC) has been developed and studied extensively by many researchers in the field due to ECC's remarkable flexural strain and strength capacities, many leading nation (i.e., US, Japan and European countries have reached the point of being able to use ECC in actual constructions. But, due to the belated interest in the field, Korea is lagging behind the leading countries. ECC's ability to use its short fibers to bridge micro-cracks (50-80㎛ in width) allows great ductility and strength. ,In this study, ECC with superior material capacities are manufactured using domestic materials such as cement, silica sand, metal cellulose, etc. Using only domestic products, the optimal W/C ratio and mixing procedures are determined.

  • This study was performed with an aim to improve the early-age strength of concrete containing fly ash, which is known to increase the long-age strength of concrete, reduce drying shrinkage, and enhance water tightness. The composition was partially substituted with calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA), from which ettringite is actively produced, in the early stages of hydration to verify its effect on improving the early-age strength and to determine the optimal mixing ratio. For this purpose, up to 30 % of the cement weight was substituted with fly ash, and the amount of CSA substitution was 8% of the fly ash weight. The mixtures were then fabricated into concrete specimens for compressive strength measurement and analysis of the correlation between the hydration products and the compressive strength.

  • In this study, the optimum mix proportions of rain garden structure concrete were decided and the mechanical properties were evaluated. Experimental parameters were blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, recycled aggregates and natural jute fibers. The target compressive strength and chloride ion penetration were more than 24 MPa and less than 1000 coulombs, respectively. The response surface method was used for statistical optimization of experimental results. The optimal mixing ratios of the blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, recycled coarse aggregate and jute fiber volume fraction were determined 59.98 %, 8.74 %, 12.12 % and 0.2 %, respectively. The compressive strength, flexural strength and chloride ion penetration test results of optimum mix ratio showed that the 24.56 MPa, 3.88 MPa and 999.08 columbs, respectively.

  • Cement is the most widely used but generates a lot of CO2, so we need a material to replace it. Using industrial by-products such as Silica Fume(SF), Blast furnace Slag(BS) and Fly Ash(FA) bring some advantages including CO2 reduction and resource recycling. However, there is a limit to improve performance when using only one material. Therefore, the synergy effects of No cement binary mortar and ternary mortar were analyzed and compared. As a result, No cement ternary mortar had the strength higher than binary mortar. among ternary mortars, the specimen mixed 50% of BS had the highest strength. However, when SF was mixed by 20%, the flowability reduces. so 10% of SF, 40% of FA and 50% of BS is considered as the optimal mixing ratio.

Optimization of Pasta with the Addition of Letinus edodes Powder (표고버섯분말 첨가 파스타의 제조조건 최적화)

  • The study aimed to determine the optimal mixing ratio of two different amounts of Letinus edodes powder and egg for preparation of pasta. The complete analysis was conducted using the Design Expert 7 program (State-Easy, Minneapolis, MN). Response surface methodology revealed 10 experimental points, including two replicates for L. edodes powder and egg. L. edodes pasta formulation was optimized using rheology. Lightness and redness displayed a lineal model pattern, whereas yellowness was represented by a quadratic model. The sensory evaluation parameters of texture, color, flavor, appearance and overall quality showed significant differences for color (p<0.01), flavor (p<0.05), texture (p<0.05) and overall quality (p<0.05). All sensory parameters showed significant values in a quadratic model. The optimum formulations processed by numerical and graphical optimization were determined as 15 g of L. edodes powder and 37.5 g of egg.

  • This research evaluated factors on cement-based solidification process designed for hazardous sludge produced from electroplating industry. Four factors of sand/cement ratio, water/cement ratio, amount of wet sludge and amount of a precipitator, were investigated in terms of leachability and compressive strength of the solidified materials. Results of triplicate tests and statistical analysis indicated that sand/cement ratio(S/C) had the greatest effect on leaching of Cr(VI) from the solidified materials while water/cement ratio(W/C) on Zn and compressive strength. Cr(VI) was fixed better than Zn by portland cement. An experimental modeing was developed to estimate leached metal concentration and compressive strength at a given condition. Proper mixing criteria were also suggested for the use of the solidified mixture as construction materials. In solidification of 30g dry sludge, optimal condition was studied for S/C ratio, W/C ratio and the weight of precipitator which were 1, 1.5 and 1.075g respectively.

A Fundamental Study on Composting of Garbage (음식물쓰레기의 퇴비화에 관한 기초적 연구)

  • A fundamental study on composting garbage was performed in a laboratory scale of a high-speed composting reactor. Major parameters were moisture content, temperature and C/N ratio. The results are as follows; pH of the compost was the highest at moisture 60% and anaerobic condition occurred at 70%. It was, also, found that C/N ratio, caused a nitrogen loss due to an occurrence of plentiful $NH_3$. Under controlling Temperature, pH was the highest at $60^{\circ}C$ and an inverse effect for Composting occurred under excessive Temperature as pH at $70^{\circ}C$ was lower than that of soil. The variation of pH and C/N ratio was the lowest when C/N ratio was 25. The results obtained from composting garbage revealed that the best condition of composting occurred under 50 to 60% of moisture content, $60^{\circ}C$ of temperature, and 25 of C/N ratio. It is believed that composting may be finished with in 56 hours if an optimal condition is setting up.

Determination of the Optimal Mixture Ratio for Extrudates of Job's-tear and Wheat Flour by Mixture Design Analysis (혼합실험계획법에 의한 율무와 밀가루의 압출성형 최적 배합 조건 설정)

  • The aim of this study was to identify the optimal ingredient-mixing ratio of Job's-tear and wheat flour subjected to extrusion. A modified distance-based mixture design analysis was chosen for the experimental design. The results showed that the bending failure force, the a-value, and the water absorbtion index (WAI) value had no correlation with the mixture ratio of Job's-tear and wheat flour. However, the diameter of the extrudates, the L- and b-values, and the water solubility index (WSI) value were all found to be correlated to the mixture ratio. While the first three values were determined using a linear model, the WSI value was determined using a quadratic model. The diameter and color had an inverse correlation to the mixture ratio: the higher the ratio of Job's-tear to wheat flour, the lower the diameter and darker the color. The L- and b-values were found to change in accordance with the mixture ratio of Job's-tear to wheat flour. The lowest WSI value was obtained at a 40:60 ratio of Job's-tear to wheat.

  • The optimal design and combustion analysis of the gas generator for Liquid Rocket Engine (LRE) were performed. A fuel-rich gas generator in open cycle turbopump system was designed for 101on1 in thrust with RP-1/LOx combination. The optimal design was done for maximizing specific impulse of main combustion chamber with constraints of combustion temperature and power matching in turbopump system. Results of optimal design show the dimension of length, diameter, and contraction ratio of gas generator. The configuration of the gas generator and the condition for performance which can maximize the objective function were determined and found to meet the design constraints. Also, the combustion analysis was conducted to evaluate the performance of designed chamber and injector of gas generator. And the effect of the turbulence ring was investigated on the mixing enhancement in the chamber.
