The microbial properties and acid tolerance of the three kinds of Acetobacter sp. isolated from persimmon vinegar were investigated. Acid tolerance was also evaluated. Acetobacter sp. were gram negative, short rod, nonspore forming and motile. They reacted positively catalase, methyl red, oxidation fermentation, Voges-Proskauer and nitrate reduction tests and negative to hydrogen sulfide test and ONPG. Acetobacter sp. showed normal growth curve in Carr broth and there was no significant difference between isolates and (standard on) typical strains such as Acetobacter aceti (KCTC1010), Acetobacter liquefaciens (KCTC2804), Acetobacter diazotrophicus (KCTC 2859). Optimum temperature and initial ethanol concentration in incubation were $30^{\circ}C$ and 6%, respectively. Growth and acid production of Acetobacter sp. were suppressed by the concentration of above 4% acetic acid. The amount of $Mg^{++}$ release from Acetobacter sp. cells in medium was increased by acetic acid, and almost in the concentration of 6% acetic acid. Glycolysis by Acetobacter sp. had optimal pH about 6.0 to 7.0 and more stable in acidic condition than in alkalic. The $H^+-ATPase$ of Acetobacter sp. S-1 and S-3 showed a maximal activity between pH values of approximately 5.5 to 7.5 and 6.0 to 7.5, respectively.
This study was conducted to determine the optimal rooting media composition and plant growth regulators for the mass production of new three cultivars in Dendrobium. Rooting medium experiments showed that shooting rate of 'Fizz' was the highest in perlite (Per) and vermiculite (V) mixture (1 : 1, v/v). Rooting rate of 'Prince' was 10% in the same treatment 60 days after cutting, while those of 'Candy' and 'Fizz' showed no shooting. With various kinds of auxin and different levels of concentrations, shooting rate in the other cultivars except 'Candy' increased highly at 60 days after cutting. Whereas, there were no differences between control and treatment except that of 'Fizz' with 200 ppm of IBA treatments showing 86.7%. Rates of cutting with leaves of 'Candy' and 'Fizz' were fairly high with 200 ppm of IBA compared to the control. Rate of rooting of 'Prince' was twice with 200 ppm of IBA or 50 ppm of NAA compared to the control. With various kinds of cytokinin and different concentrations, shooting rate of 'Candy' was 20% with 50 ppm of BA at 60 days after cutting; however, that of 'Fizz' increased in all treatments in 30 days after cutting and reached 100% with 200 ppm of BA compared to the control which was 77% at 60 days after cutting. Kinetin treatment had little effect on shooting rate compared to control at all concentrations. Treatment with 200 ppm of BA had clear effect on the rate of cutting with leaves of 'Fizz' and 'Prince', which was similar to shooting rate. However, the same treatment of BA had no effect on the rooting rate in all cultivars.
Wayfinding is a 'Process solving problem to find destination', and it is important to select spatial data for optimal way. Recently, due to the complexity of space and the expansion of the medium of the wayfinding service, it is necessary to the approach on the information design for them. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a meta guideline on the information design for the design of orientation sign, which is an important cognitive clue in the wayfinding. It was conducted in 3 stages, First, a design process was proposed and design elements were derived for each step by literature research related to information and sign design, and analysis of manual for signage design. Second, a meta guideline for information organization and visualization in the three-stage design process was proposed by FGI and analysis. Third, the meta guideline was applied to the sign design on an area for user evaluation to inspect the applicability of the meta guideline. Through the user questionnaire, the possibility of applying the guideline for visualization of directions and spaces, information hierarchy according to spatial characteristics and information priority was identified. It is meaningful in that necessary element for signage design are systematized centering on the process and that it presents a macroscopic methodology according to spatial characteristics.

In the ultrasonic dispersion, in order to avoid direct contact of the radiation surface of ultrasonic transducers with a liquid sample, the liquid sample is separated by a glass container and it receives ultrasonic energy through an acoustic medium. The transmission efficiency of the ultrasonic energy in the multi-layered ultrasonic system is an important factor. In this study, we suggested a method that can improve the ultrasonic energy transfer efficiency by using a propylene glycol solution as a liquid matching layer in the multi-layered acoustic system. In this method, a propylene glycol solution was filled between the Langevin-type ultrasonic transducer and the luminol solution and the sonoluminescence phenomena in the luminol solution, which is caused by nonlinear effect of high power ultrasound radiated from the transducer, was examined by using a Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT). The transmission efficiency depending on the concentration of propylene glycol solution was observed, and we can see that as the concentration of the propylene glycol solution increased, the matching effect increased while the acoustic attenuation increased. It was confirmed that there is an optimal concentration compromised these two conflicting conditions, and the optimum concentration of the propylene glycol solution was determined experimentally.

Cymbidium 'Purple Star' (Miake 'Pieta' ${\times}$ 'Allstar Mariane') was developed from a cross between hybrids at the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2008. A cross was made between purple colored flower C. Miake 'Pieta' as maternal line and dark pink colored flower, C. 'Allstar Mariane' as paternal line in 1995. The seed germination, cultivation, selection, and characteristic trials were conducted from 1996 to 2002. The line was named as Wongyo 'F1-21' and phenotype was characterized in 2007 as a new cultivar. The 'Purple Star' has dark purple basal color (RHS, GP186A) on both of sepal and petal with red lip (RHS, RP59A). 'Purple Star' has about 10.7 flowers per flower stalk and flower size of 7.6 cm. General appearance of petals and sepals is slightly incurved shape. The plant size is intermediate having erect peduncle. Blooming is started from the late of January (mid-winter) under optimal culture condition. Leaf attitude and twisting is erect and weak respectively. This hybrid has attractive floral arrangement, long flower stalk (78.4 cm) and vigorous growth. 'Purple Star' has a great potential for exporting to Chinese market.
Objective: In dryland areas of China, alfalfa hay (AH) is a possible substitute for concentrate feed for beef cattle. To evaluate the potential benefits of this substitution, we studied the effect of the ratio of AH intake to total dry matter (DM) intake on average daily body-weight gain (ADG), dietary energy utilization status, and economic benefit in Gansu province. Methods: In each of two feeding trials in 2016 (trial 1 [T1], July 3 to 17; trial 2 [T2], August 15 to September 23), crossbred male Simmental calves were allocated to low AH (LA), medium AH (MA), and high AH (HA) feeding groups (n = 4 per group). The target ADG was set as 1 kg for both trials. In a one-way-layout design based on conventional feeding practices in the province, calves received diets containing the different AH amounts, with a constant ratio of corn stover:total DM and decreasing rations of concentrate feed proportional to the increase in AH. Calves in T1 received AH at 15% (T1-LA), 23% (T1-MA), or 31% (T1-HA) of their dietary DM allowances; those in T2 received 9% (T2-LA), 24% (T2-MA), or 34% (T2-HA) AH. Results: Among the T1 groups, both ADG and economic benefit were highest in T1-LA; whereas in T2, they were higher in the T2-LA and T2-MA groups than in T2-HA. Energy digestibility did not significantly differ among the groups in either trial. The dietary AH inclusion ratios of 14% in the warm season and 8% to 21% in the cool season appeared to yield optimal ADG, metabolizable energy intake, and economic benefit. Conclusion: Low-level inclusion of AH, ranging from 8% to 21%, is a practical approach for beef cattle feeding. This modified feeding regimen likely will promote increased growth performance during the fattening stage of beef steers in dryland areas of Gansu province, China.

The short-lived nematode Caenorhabditis elegans has been used as a model organism for many studies, including lifespan extension. To screen common seaweeds for natural anti-aging agents, the lifespan of C. elegans (N2 wild-type strain) was measured by its hatch rate, growth rate, survival rate, chemotaxis, brood size, and egg-laying time after exposure to nematode growth medium (NGM) containing seaweed extracts. Approximately 30 animals synchronized at the first larval stage were incubated until they reached their adult stages before laying their eggs and were transferred to fresh NGM every 3 days. We also identified the major active compound from the seaweed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and tested its optimal dose for longevity. Of 13 common seaweed species, an ethanol extract of the brown seaweed Hizikia fusiformis showed the greatest effect on hatching, growth, and survival rates. The lifespan of C. elegans was significantly expanded 1.54-fold and 1.23-fold in the presence of the ethanol extract (0.05 mg/ml) and the main active component, fucosterol (0.05 mg/ml), respectively. Exposure to the ethanol extract also increased chemotaxis 1.13-fold, decreased brood size 0.74-fold, and shortened egg-laying time 0.96-fold. These results suggest that the aquaculturable H. fusiformis may be a promising source of a diet supplement to support health care.

Oil is used in various industries, including the agricultural sector, food industry, and functional cosmetics. These oils are chemically unstable and prone to oxidation when exposed to oxygen, light, moisture, or high temperatures. Therefore, various attempts have been made to encapsulate them so that they are not exposed to such environments. When oil is injected into a refrigerant with greater density, the oil can be encapsulated as it rises due to buoyancy caused by the density difference. In this study, oil encapsulation was simulated to find the optimal conditions for operating equipment using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for multiphase flows. Water or serum can be used as a refrigerant. The viscosity of water is relatively small, and if it is used as a refrigerant, oil droplets can be produced well even if oil and water are continuously injected in the equipment. However, the viscosity of serum is very high, and if it is used, the oil is stretched out and does not leave the nozzle. The results show that when using serum as a cooling medium, oil encapsulation is possible if the injection is stopped for some time after instantaneous injection at high speed.

Domestic agriculture is facing real problems, such as a decrease in the population in rural areas, a shortage of labor due to an aging population, and increased risks due to the deepening of climate change. Smart farming technology is being developed to solve these problems. In the development of smart agricultural technology, irrigation control plays an important role in creating an optimal growth environment and is an important issue in terms of environmental protection. This paper is about the study of collecting and analyzing the rhizosphere environmental data of domestic paprika farms for the purpose of improving the quality of crops, reducing production costs, and increasing production. Irrigation control modeling presented in this paper Control modeling is to graphically present changes in a medium weight, feed, and drainage due to regional climatic features. To derive the graph, the parameters were determined through data collection and analysis, and the suggested irrigation control modeling method was applied to the collected rhizosphere environmental data to control irrigation in 6 regions (Gangwon-do, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam). The parameters were obtained and graphs were derived from them. After that, a study was conducted to analyze the derived parameters to verify the validity of the irrigation control modeling method and to correlate them with climatic features (average temperature and precipitation).

Objective: The growth rate of pigs is related to differentiation and proliferation of muscle cells, which are regulated by growth factors and expression of growth-related genes. Thus, the objective of this study was to establish optimal culture conditions for Jeju black pig (JBP) muscle cells and determine the relationship of various factors involved in muscle growth with the proliferation of JBP muscle cells. Methods: Muscles were taken from the femur skeletal muscle of JBP embryos. After isolation of the muscle cells, cells were cultured in a 6-well plate under four different culture conditions to optimize culture conditions for JBP muscle cells. To analyze proliferation rate of JBP muscle cells, these muscle cells were seeded into 6-well plates at a density of 1.5×105 cells per well and cultured for 3 days. Western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction were applied to verify the myogenic differentiation 1 (MyoD) expression and growth-related gene expression in JBP muscle cells, respectively. Results: We established a muscle cell line from JBP embryos and optimized its culture conditions. These muscle cells were positive for MyoD, but not for paired box 7. The proliferation rate of these muscle cells was significantly higher in a culture medium containing bFGF and epidermal growth factor + basic fibroblast growth factor (EGF+bFGF) than that without a growth factor or containing EGF alone. Treatment with EGF and bFGF significantly induced the expression of MyoD protein, an important transcription factor in muscle cells. Moreover, we checked the changes of expression of growth-related genes in JBP muscle cells by presence or absence of growth factors. Expression level of collagen type XXI alpha 1 gene was changed only when EGF and bFGF were added together to culture media for JBP muscle cells. Conclusion: Concurrent use of EGF and bFGF increased the expression of MyoD protein, thus regulating the proliferation of JBP muscle cells and the expression of growth-related genes.
