  • Small-scale production is increasing, and the manufacturing industry is gradually changing into a smart manufacturing industry. Therefore, research on securing optimal cutting conditions for factors affecting machining precision during cutting is very important. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to After machining the inner diameter hole of SCM415 steel with a cermet tool on a CNC automatic lathe, the surface roughness, dimensional accuracy, and dimensional straightness are measured according to the feed rate to analyze the machining characteristics and suggest optimal cutting conditions. The test material was cut using a cermet tool for secondary cutting after a round bar with a diameter of 20 mm was mounted on a CNC automatic lathe. The cutting length was fixed at 0.5 mm, and the cutting speed was fixed at 3200 rpm. When the feed rate was changed to 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mm/rev, the respective surface roughness during the 15th test was measured. Consequently, The lower the feed rate, the better is the surface roughness. In addition, the optimum cutting conditions for SCM415 steel were observed to be the most ideal cutting conditions than the condition of 0.05 mm/rev at a cutting speed of 3,200 rpm and a feed rate of 0.1 mm/rev.

5지 신호교차로에서의 안전을 고려한 신호현시 설계 (Safety Enhanced Signal Phase Sequence Design of a Rotary with Five Leg Intersection)

  • 일반적으로 4지 또는 3지의 교차로가 설계·운영되고 있으나 적지 않게 5지 또는 그 이상 의 원형 신호교차로가 실질적으로 이용되고 있다. 접근로 수에 따른 교차로 형태별 분류에 의하면 5지 이상의 교차로에서의 상충지 점의 수는 4지 교차로의 그것보다 월등히 높아 설계지침에서도 4지 이하의 교차로를 설계할 것을 권하고 있으며 마찬가지로 5지 원형 신호교차로에서도 그 상충지점 수가 많다. 이러한 이유로 5지 신호 교차로의 신호 설계는 교통소통이 아닌 교통안전측면에서 신호현시 순서 및 길이가 결정되어야 할 필요가 있으며 또 그러한 현시순서는 교차로 내 원활한 교통의 흐름을 심각한 수준으로 방해하지 않을 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 5지 신호교차로의 안전을 고려한 현시순서설계 방안을 제시한다. 울산광역시에서 운영중인 공업탑 5지 신호교차로를 대상으로 현장자료를 수집하였으며, 신호시간 설계모형은 TRANSYT-7F를 적용했다. TRANSYT-7F에서의 최적 신호현시의 길이를 토대로 기본적으로 "한 현시에 2개 교통류의 이동" 원칙에 따라 재배열하였다. 제안된 방법으로 보정된 신호현시 순서 및 길이를 사용하여 모의실험한 결과 TRANSYT-7F에서 제시한 최적 신호현시 순서 및 길이를 적용한 것에 비하여 평균 6.2%지체도 증가가 있었으나 교차로 내 상충수를 61.5% 줄이는 결과를 도출하였다.

  • The shape of lossy material inside a waveguide matched load is optimally designed to give low reflection over a given frequency range. The 3 dimensional vector finite element mettled is used as an analysis tool which does not generate spurious mode. The optimizing process used in this parer is the Powell technique. The designed load gives the low reflection about -30 dB around 10GHz with 1.5 wavelength of the load length.

Estimation of optimal ecological flowrates for fish habitats in a nature-like fishway of a large river

  • Fishways are constructed to provide longitudinal connectivity of streams or rivers where their flow has been altered by in-stream structures such as dams or weirs. Nature-like fishways have an additional function of providing fish habitats. In the study, we estimated the role of a nature-like fishway (length: 700 m, slope: 1/100) for fish habitat by using two dominant species in the Sangju Weir, Nakdong River, to calculate the optimal ecological flow rate using Physical HABitat SIMulation (PHABSIM). To identify the dominant species that used the fishway, we conducted trap monitoring from August to November 2012 at the fishway exit. The dominant species were Zacco platypus and Opsariichthys uncirostric amurensis with a relative abundance of 62.1% and 35.9%, respectively. Optimal habitat suitability indices (HSIs) for Z. platypus and O. u. amurensis were calculated as 0.6-0.8 m/s (water velocity) and 0.2-0.4 m (water depth), and 0.5-0.7 m/s (water velocity) and 0.1-0.3 m (water depth), respectively. The optimal ecological flow rates (OEFs) for Z. platypus and O. u. amurensis were 1.6 and 1.7 cubic meter per second (CMS), respectively. The results of the study can be used in a management plan to increase the habitat function of nature-like fishways in the Sangju Weir. This methodology can be utilized as an appropriate tool that can determine the habitat function of all nature-like fishways.

정면과 측면에 위치시킨 마이크로 소프트 키넥트 2로 측정한 보행 시공간 변인 정확성 비교 (Accuracy Comparison of Spatiotemporal Gait Variables Measured by the Microsoft Kinect 2 Sensor Directed Toward and Oblique to the Movement Direction)

  • Background: The Microsoft Kinect which is a low-cost gaming device has been studied as a promise clinical gait analysis tool having satisfactory reliability and validity. However, its accuracy is only guaranteed when it is properly positioned in front of a subject. Objects: The purpose of this study was to identify the error when the Kinect was positioned at a $45^{\circ}$ angle to the longitudinal walking plane compare with those when the Kinect was positioned in front of a subject. Methods: Sixteen healthy adults performed two testing sessions consisting of walking toward and $45^{\circ}$ obliquely the Kinect. Spatiotemporal outcome measures related to stride length, stride time, step length, step time and walking speed were examined. To assess the error between Kinect and 3D motion analysis systems, mean absolute errors (MAE) were determined and compared. Results: MAE of stride length, stride time, step time and walking speed when the Kinect set in front of subjects were investigated as .36, .04, .20 and .32 respectively. MAE of those when the Kinect placed obliquely were investigated as .67, .09, .37, and .58 respectively. There were significant differences in spatiotemporal outcomes between the two conditions. Conclusion: Based on our study experience, positioning the Kinect directly in front of the person walking towards it provides the optimal spatiotemporal data. Therefore, we concluded that the Kinect should be placed carefully and adequately in clinical settings.

Al 6061 합금의 마찰교반용접 시 접합변수가 강도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Joining Factors on Strength of Al 6061 Alloy in FSW)

  • Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is useful technique to join aluminum alloy with energy efficient and environment friendly. In this paper, the design of experiment with three-way factorial design was adopted for optimum conditions of welding variables in the FSW of Al 6061 alloy. Tools of shoulder diameter of 9, 12, 15 mm and pin length of 1.5 mm were used. Also the material's dimension for welding were $2{\times}100{\times}150mm$, and the tensile specimens were worked by water-jet technique. Welding variables were shoulder diameter, rotating speed and travel speed of tool. From the results of this work, the welding factor influenced on yield strength most was travel speed and the optimum condition for FSW was predicted as the shoulder diameter of 15 mm, welding speed of 500 mm/min and rotating speed of 2,000 rpm. Also the presumption range of yield strength at optimal condition of reliability 99% was estimated to $207.19{\pm}9.91MPa$.

  • The early detection of the bearing defects in rotating machinery is very important since the critical failure of bearing causes a machinery shutdown. However it is not easy to detect the vibration signal caused by the initial defects of bearing because of the high level of random noise. A signal processing technique, called the adaptive line enhancer(ALE) as one of adaptive filter, is used in this study. This technique is to eliminate random noise with little a prior knowledge of the noise and signal characteristics. Also we propose the optimal methods fir selecting the three main ALE parameters such as correlation length filter order and adaptation constant. Vibration signals f3r three abnormal bearings, including inner and outer raceways and ball defects, were acquired by Anderon(angular derivative of radius on) meter. The experimental results showed that ALE is very useful f3r detecting the bearing defective signals masked by random noise.

Two-Site Optical Observation and Initial Orbit Determination for Geostationary Earth Orbit Satellites

  • Optical observation system provides angle-only measurement for orbit determination of space object. Range measurement can be directly acquired using laser ranging or tone ranging system. Initial orbit determination (IOD) by using angle- only data set shows discrepancy according to the measurement time interval. To solve this problem, range measurement data should be added for IOD. In this study, two-site optical observation was used to derive the range information. We have observed nine geostationary earth orbit satellites by using two-site optical observation system. The determination result of the range shows the accuracy over 99.5% compared to the results from the satellite tool kit simulation. And we confirmed that the orbit determination by the Herrick-Gibbs method with the range information obtained from the two-site observation is more accurate than the orbit determination by Gauss method with the one-site observation. For more accurate two-site optical observation, a baseline should satisfy an optimal condition of length and more precise observation system needed.

PDMS를 이용한 마이크로 구동기의 제작 및 평가 (Detection of Tool Failure by Wavelet Transform)

  • In this study, we propose and develop PDMS-based modular actuators. The microactuator which looks like a small insect uses thermal expansion power of the PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane; $sylgar^{(R)}$ 184 silicone elastomer). The PDMS-based microactuator provides a large displacement due to a high thermal expansion coefficient (approximately 310ppm). The microacruator with 1mm length $350{\mu}m$ width is optimized by using a numerical analysis. The shape of the PDMS actuatoris variously designed. They are placed at several positions to find the optimal position that provides a high transformation ratio. The PDMS-based microactuators are fabricated using a conventional micromaching technique. The fabricated microactuator is heated using a hot-plate. The actuator displacement is measured as a function of temperature from $27^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$. The experimental results are compared to the simulation result. When heating temperature up to $300^{\circ}C$ is applied to the PDMS actuator, each V-groove-shaped joint is actuated $30{\mu}$ mat $300^{\circ}C$. Anotherdesign of the microactuator has a maximum displacement of about 656mm.

실험계획법에 의한 Al5052 알루미늄 합금의 마찰교반용접특성 (Friction Stir Welding Characteristics of Al5052 Aluminium Alloy by Design of Experiment)

In this paper, the three-way factorial design was adopted for obtaining the optimum friction stir welding conditions of Al 5052 alloy. Tools of shoulder diameter of 9, 12, 15 mm and pin length of 1.5 mm were used. Also the material's dimension for welding was $100{\times}100{\times}2mm$, and the tensile specimens were worked by water-jet technique. Welding variables were shoulder diameter, rotating speed of tool and welding speed. As far as this work is concerned, optimum condition for friction stir joint of Al 5052 alloy was predicted as the shoulder diameter of 15 mm, welding speed of 500mm/min and rotating speed of 1000 rpm. In addition, the presumed range of tensile strength under the optimal conditions is estimated to be $208.3{\pm}5.7$ MPa with 99% reliability.
