Oil is used in various industries, including the agricultural sector, food industry, and functional cosmetics. These oils are chemically unstable and prone to oxidation when exposed to oxygen, light, moisture, or high temperatures. Therefore, various attempts have been made to encapsulate them so that they are not exposed to such environments. When oil is injected into a refrigerant with greater density, the oil can be encapsulated as it rises due to buoyancy caused by the density difference. In this study, oil encapsulation was simulated to find the optimal conditions for operating equipment using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for multiphase flows. Water or serum can be used as a refrigerant. The viscosity of water is relatively small, and if it is used as a refrigerant, oil droplets can be produced well even if oil and water are continuously injected in the equipment. However, the viscosity of serum is very high, and if it is used, the oil is stretched out and does not leave the nozzle. The results show that when using serum as a cooling medium, oil encapsulation is possible if the injection is stopped for some time after instantaneous injection at high speed.

Nano bubble water is used in various washing processes, including cleaning of solar panels, salt rejection of roads, and cleaning precision parts of machines. High cleaning efficiency and water conservation are obtained by applying nano bubbles during pretreatment of the marine waste cleaning system. This study compared the salt rejection of nano bubble water, and it was revealed that marine waste was produced by wood immersed in 200,000 mg/L NaCl solution. Using tap water and nano bubble water for washing, comparisons of the surface salt concentrations of wood were determined according to the nozzle, orifice diameter, pump speed and washing time. Decreased surface salt concentration was observed on the wood surface with increasing washing time. Water consumption was optimal between 5- and 10-seconds washing time. Increasing orifice diameter of the nozzle reduced the spraying pressure, with consequent increase in the wood surface salt concentration, thereby establishing the importance of orifice diameter of the nozzle. Compared to levels obtained with tap water, salt concentration of the wood surface after washing with nano bubble water was 2.2% lower with sector nozzle, and 30.9% lower with circular nozzle. In the washing experiment using nano bubble water, the salt concentration on the wood surface was about 9.5 mg/L lower when washed with sector nozzle than the circular nozzle.
Conservation treatment that involved filling the lifting parts of wooden cultural heritage is carried out by obtaining wood or wood powder of the same species and mixing it with synthetic resin or natural glue to charge the blank area. Various concentrations and mixing ratios of adhesives and additives are used, depending on the type and condition of the target. Accordingly, in this study, we determined the conditions of the filler suitable for conservation treatment of wooden sculptures with lifted or separated bark in the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The optimal filler conditions for each adhesive were selected based on drying speed, shrinkage and expansion rates, and physical deformation degree. Then, to verify their actual applicability, these fillers were applied to wood and exposed to high-humidity environment and their cross-sections were observed. The fillers showed stable application in the following order: animal glue, PVAc adhesive, acrylic adhesive. In conclusion, a 1:2 mixture of animal glue and wood powder is a suitable filler for conservation treatment of wooden sculpture with lifted bark. The results of this study suggest appropriate ways to stabilize the bark that was lifted or separated from a wooden sculpture, thus enabling the future conservation treatment of the artworks under similar conditions.
Lab-on-a-disc is a circular disc shape of cartridge that can be used for blood-based liquid biopsy to diagnose an early stage of cancer. Currently, liquid biopsies are regarded as a time-consuming process, and require sophisticated skills to precisely separate cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and circulating tumor cells (CTCs) floating in the bloodstream for accurate diagnosis. However, by applying the lab-on-a-disc to liquid biopsy, the entire process can be operated automatically. To do so, the lab-on-a-disc should be designed to prevent blood leakage during the centrifugation, transport, and dilution of blood inside the lab-on-a-disc in the process of liquid biopsy. In this study, the main components of lab-on-a-disc for liquid biopsy are fabricated by injection molding for mass production, and ultrasonic welding is employed to ensure the bonding strength between the components. To guarantee accurate ultrasonic welding, the flatness of the components is optimized numerically by using the response surface methodology with four main injection molding processing parameters, including the mold & resin temperatures, the injection speed, and the packing pressure. The 27 times finite element analyses using Moldflow® reveal that the injection time and the packing pressure are the critical factors affecting the flatness of the components with an optimal set of values for all four processing parameters. To further improve the flatness of the lab-on-a-disc components for stable mass production, a quarter-disc shape of lab-on-a-disc with a radius of 75 mm is used instead of a full circular shape of the disc, and this significantly decreases the standard deviation of flatness to 30% due to the reduced overall length of the injection molded components by one-half. Moreover, it is also beneficial to use a quarter disc shape to manage the deviation of flatness under 3 sigma limits.

This paper describes a point of production(POP) system which collects and manages real-time shop floor machining information in a wafer dicing process. The system are composed of POP terminal, line controller and network. In the configuration of the system, LAN and RS485 network are used for connection with the upper management system and down stratum respectively. As a bridge between POP terminal and server, a line controller is used. The real-time information which is the base of production management are collected from information resources such as machine, product and worker. The collected information are used for the calculation of optimal cutting condition. The collection of the information includes cutting speed, spout of pure water, accumulated count of cut in process for blade and wafer defect. In order to manage machining information in wafer dicing process, production planning information is delivered to the shop floor, and production result information is collected from the shop floor, delivered to the server and used for managing production plan. From the result of the system application, production progress status, work and non-working hour analysis for each machine, and wafer defect analysis are available, and they are used for quality and productivity improvements in wafer dicing process. A case study is implemented to evaluate the performance of the system.
Quartz (SiO2) is among the major rock-forming minerals in the earth's crust. The atomistic structures of SiO2 may evolve during diverse frictional processes. The reduction of friction of quartz-rock accompanied by its amorphization, hydration, and formation of silica gel provides mineralogical insights into earthquakes and related phenomena. Ball milling, together with rotary shear experiments have been useful to infer the atomic origins of such processes. In this study, optimal experimental conditions for ball milling for amorphization of SiO2 were determined by taking into account various process variables. The crystallinity of SiO2 gradually decreased and became amorphous as the ball milling time increased at a high milling speed. The degree of wear of the milling media and its effect on the amorphization of SiO2 were analyzed using distinct milling materials (zirconia, stainless steel). The amount of ball wear increased with increasing milling time. Furthermore, the worn stainless steel particles from balls tend to interact with amorphized SiO2 to form Si-O-Cr. These results aid in understanding the process of atomistic structural changes caused by ball milling of divserse materials with relatively high hardness, such as SiO2, and understanding various geological friction processes.

Recently, a convolutional neural network (CNN) based system is being developed to overcome the limitations of human resources in the apple quality classification of farmhouse. However, since convolutional neural networks receive only images of the same size, preprocessing such as sampling may be required, and in the case of oversampling, information loss of the original image such as image quality degradation and blurring occurs. In this paper, in order to minimize the above problem, to generate a image patch based graph of an original image and propose a random walk-based positional encoding method to apply the graph transformer model. The above method continuously learns the position embedding information of patches which don't have a positional information based on the random walk algorithm, and finds the optimal graph structure by aggregating useful node information through the self-attention technique of graph transformer model. Therefore, it is robust and shows good performance even in a new graph structure of random node order and an arbitrary graph structure according to the location of an object in an image. As a result, when experimented with 5 apple quality datasets, the learning accuracy was higher than other GNN models by a minimum of 1.3% to a maximum of 4.7%, and the number of parameters was 3.59M, which was about 15% less than the 23.52M of the ResNet18 model. Therefore, it shows fast reasoning speed according to the reduction of the amount of computation and proves the effect.

This study focuses on modeling the impact of ammonia leakage from the storage tank in a combined cycle power plant's flue gas denitrification facility. It employs accident impact assessments and diffusion models to determine the optimal scenarios for ammonia storage tank leakage accidents. The study considers the operating conditions of variables as standard conditions for predicting the extent of damage. The Taean combined cycle power plant is chosen as the target area, taking into account seasonal factors such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, atmospheric stability, and wind direction. By utilizing a Gaussian diffusion model, the concentration of ammonia gas at various locations is estimated to assess the potential extent of external damage resulting from a leak. The study reveals that in conditions of high temperature and stable atmosphere within the specified range, lower wind speeds contribute to increased damage to the human body due to ammonia diffusion.

In recent years, the need for economical and sustainable ship routing has emerged due to the enforced regulations on environmental issues. Despite the development of weather forecasting technology, maritime accidents by rough waves have continued to occur due to incorrect weather forecasts. In this study, onboard measurements are conducted to observe the acutal situation on merchant ships in operation encountering rough waves. The types of measured data include information related to navigation (Ship's position, speed, bearing, rudder angle) and engine (engine revolutions, power, shaft thrust, fuel consumption), weather conditions (wind, waves), and ship motions (roll, pitch, and yaw). These ship experiments was conducted to 28,000 DWT bulk carrier, 63,000 DWT bulk carrier, 20,000 TEU container ship, and 12,000 TEU container ship. The actual ship experiment of each ship is intended to acquire various types of data and utilize them for multi-objective studies related to ship operation. Additionally, in order to confirm the sea conditions, the directional wave spectrum was reproduced using a wave simulation model. Through data collection from ship experiments and wave simulations, various studies could be proceeding such as the measurement for accurate wave information by marine radar and analysis for cargo collapse accidents. In addition, it is expected to be utilized in various themes from the perspective of safety and efficiency in ship operation.
An image-reconstruction technology, involving the deployment of an unmanned mobility equipped with high-speed LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) has been proposed to reconstruct the shape of abandoned mine. Unmanned mobility operation is remarkably useful in abandoned mines fraught with operational difficulties including, but not limited to, obstacles, sludge, underwater and narrow tunnel with the diameter of 1.5 m or more. For cases of real abandoned mines, quadruped robots, quadcopter drones and underwater drones are respectively deployed on land, air, and water-filled sites. In addition to the advantage of scanning the abandoned mines with 2D solid-state lidar sensors, rotation of radiation at an inclination angle offers an increased efficiency for simultaneous reconstruction of mineshaft shapes and detecting obstacles. Sensor and robot posture were used for computing rotation matrices that helped compute geographical coordinates of the solid-state lidar data. Next, the quadruped robot scanned the actual site to reconstruct tunnel shape. Lastly, the optimal elements necessary to increase utility in actual fields were found and proposed.
