This study focuses on modeling the impact of ammonia leakage from the storage tank in a combined cycle power plant's flue gas denitrification facility. It employs accident impact assessments and diffusion models to determine the optimal scenarios for ammonia storage tank leakage accidents. The study considers the operating conditions of variables as standard conditions for predicting the extent of damage. The Taean combined cycle power plant is chosen as the target area, taking into account seasonal factors such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, atmospheric stability, and wind direction. By utilizing a Gaussian diffusion model, the concentration of ammonia gas at various locations is estimated to assess the potential extent of external damage resulting from a leak. The study reveals that in conditions of high temperature and stable atmosphere within the specified range, lower wind speeds contribute to increased damage to the human body due to ammonia diffusion.
The aim of this study was to enhance the flow rate and noise performance of a centrifugal pump in dishwashers by designing an optimized impeller shape through numerical and experimental investigations. To evaluate the performance of the target centrifugal pump, experiment was conducted using a pump performance tester and noise experiment was carried out in a semi-anechoic chamber with microphones and a reflecting wall behind the dishwasher. Through the use of advanced computational fluid dynamics techniques, numerical simulations were performed to analyze the flow and aeroacoustics performance of our target centrifugal pump impeller. To achieve this, numerical simulations were carried out using the Reynolds-Average Navier-Stokes equations and Ffowcs-Willliams and Hawkings equations as governing equations. In order to ensure the validity of numerical methods, a thorough comparison of numerical results with experimental results. After having confirmed the reliability of the current numerical method of this study, the optimization of the target centrifugal pump impeller was conducted. An improvement in flow rate was confirmed numerically, and a manufactured proto-type of the optimized model was used for experimental investigation. Furthermore, it was observed that by applying the fan law, we could effectively reduce noise levels without reducing the flow rate.
Cyberattack technology is evolving to an unpredictable degree, and it is a situation that can happen 'at any time' rather than 'someday'. Infrastructure that is becoming hyper-connected and global due to cloud computing and the Internet of Things is an environment where cyberattacks can be more damaging than ever, and cyberattacks are still ongoing. Even if damage occurs due to external influences such as cyberattacks or natural disasters, intelligent self-recovery must evolve from a cyber resilience perspective to minimize downtime of cyber assets (OS, WEB, WAS, DB). In this paper, we propose an intelligent self-recovery technology to ensure sustainable cyber resilience when cyber assets fail to function properly due to a cyberattack. The original and updated history of cyber assets is managed in real-time using timeslot design and snapshot backup technology. It is necessary to secure technology that can automatically detect damage situations in conjunction with a commercialized file integrity monitoring program and minimize downtime of cyber assets by analyzing the correlation of backup data to damaged files on an intelligent basis to self-recover to an optimal state. In the future, we plan to research a pilot system that applies the unique functions of self-recovery technology and an operating model that can learn and analyze self-recovery strategies appropriate for cyber assets in damaged states.

The amount of power generation of a solar plant has a high correlation with weather conditions, geographical conditions, and the installation conditions of solar panels. Previous studies have found the elements which impacts the amount of power generation. Some of them found the optimal conditions for solar panels to generate the maximum amount of power. Considering the realistic constraints when installing a solar power plant, it is very difficult to satisfy the conditions for the maximum power generation. Therefore, it is necessary to know how sensitive the solar power generation amount is to factors affecting the power generation amount, so that plant owners can predict the amount of solar power generation when examining the installation of a solar power plant. In this study, we propose a polynomial regression analysis method to analyze the relationship between solar power plant's power generation and related factors such as weather, location, and installation conditions. Analysis data were collected from 10 solar power plants installed and operated in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the amount of power generation was affected by panel type, amount of insolation and shade. In addition, the power generation was affected by interaction of the installation angle and direction of the panel.

In recent years, the need for economical and sustainable ship routing has emerged due to the enforced regulations on environmental issues. Despite the development of weather forecasting technology, maritime accidents by rough waves have continued to occur due to incorrect weather forecasts. In this study, onboard measurements are conducted to observe the acutal situation on merchant ships in operation encountering rough waves. The types of measured data include information related to navigation (Ship's position, speed, bearing, rudder angle) and engine (engine revolutions, power, shaft thrust, fuel consumption), weather conditions (wind, waves), and ship motions (roll, pitch, and yaw). These ship experiments was conducted to 28,000 DWT bulk carrier, 63,000 DWT bulk carrier, 20,000 TEU container ship, and 12,000 TEU container ship. The actual ship experiment of each ship is intended to acquire various types of data and utilize them for multi-objective studies related to ship operation. Additionally, in order to confirm the sea conditions, the directional wave spectrum was reproduced using a wave simulation model. Through data collection from ship experiments and wave simulations, various studies could be proceeding such as the measurement for accurate wave information by marine radar and analysis for cargo collapse accidents. In addition, it is expected to be utilized in various themes from the perspective of safety and efficiency in ship operation.
The changes in groundwater flow due to mining development act as a contributing factor to major issues such as ground subsidence, strength reduction and collapse. For the sustainable mining development, measures for dealing with fluctuations in seasonal underground water inflow, power losses, pump damage, and unexpected increases in inflow must be put in place. In this study, the aim is to identify the causes of underground seepage through the examination of hydrological connectivity between the study area and nearby limestone mine. A tracer tes for assessing subsurface connectivity has been planned. A variety of tracers, such as dyes and ions, were applied in lab test to select the optimal tracer material, and a hydrological model of the study area was implemented through field test. Finally, the hydrological connectivity between the external stream and underground water in the mine was analyzed.
To improve the financial stability of the National Pension, an appropriate target rate of return should be established based on pension liabilities, and asset allocation policies should be formulated accordingly. The purpose of this study is to calculate the target rate of return considering the contributions of subscribers and the pension benefits, and based on this, derive an asset allocation. To do this, we utilized the internal rate of return methodology to calculate the target rate of return for each cohort. And then, we employed a Monte Carlo simulation-based re-sampling mean-variance model to derive asset allocation for each cohort that satisfy the target rate of return while minimizing risks. Our result shows that the target rate of return for each cohort ranged from 6.4% to 6.85%, and it decreased as the generations advanced due to a decrease in the income replacement rate of the National Pension. Consequently, the allocation of risky assets, such as stocks, was relatively reduced in the portfolios of future generations. This study holds significance in that it departs from the macroeconomic-based asset allocation methodology and proposes investments from an asset-liability management perspective, which considers the characteristics of subscribers' liabilities.
Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar), a polyphagous insect pest belonging to the family Lymantriidae, is widely distributed in Korea, Japan, Siberia, Europe, and North America. They pose a threat to various host plants including pear trees, apple trees, and blueberries. Traditionally considered a forest pest, the increasing incursion of gypsy moths into agricultural land near forested areas has intensified damage to crops lacking effective control methods. This study aimed to investigate the temperature-dependent development of gypsy moths to enhance outbreak prediction and advance technology development. The effects of temperature on development of each life stage were investigated under constant temperature conditions of 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, and 33℃ (14L:10D, RH 60±5%) utilizing egg masses collected in Jeollanam-do Jangheung-gun in 2021. The results revealed that higher temperatures accelerated the development rate of the gypsy moth larvae with optimal development occurring at 30℃. However, the survival rate was lowest at 33℃. At the favorable temperature of 30℃, the total development period was 43.8 days for females and 42.5 days for males. The developmental threshold temperature were 13.1℃ for females and 12.5℃ for males, with effective accumulated temperature of 641.1 DD and 657.8 DD, respectively.
In the rapidly evolving domain of e-commerce, our study presents a cohesive approach to enhance customer satisfaction prediction from online reviews, aligning methodological innovation with practical insights. We integrate the RFE-SHAP feature selection with LDA topic modeling to streamline predictive analytics in e-commerce. This integration facilitates the identification of key features-specifically, narrowing down from an initial set of 28 to an optimal subset of 14 features for the Random Forest algorithm. Our approach strategically mitigates the common issue of overfitting in models with an excess of features, leading to an improved accuracy rate of 84% in our Random Forest model. Central to our analysis is the understanding that certain aspects in review content, such as quality, fit, and durability, play a pivotal role in influencing customer satisfaction, especially in the clothing sector. We delve into explaining how each of these selected features impacts customer satisfaction, providing a comprehensive view of the elements most appreciated by customers. Our research makes significant contributions in two key areas. First, it enhances predictive modeling within the realm of e-commerce analytics by introducing a streamlined, feature-centric approach. This refinement in methodology not only bolsters the accuracy of customer satisfaction predictions but also sets a new standard for handling feature selection in predictive models. Second, the study provides actionable insights for e-commerce platforms, especially those in the clothing sector. By highlighting which aspects of customer reviews-like quality, fit, and durability-most influence satisfaction, we offer a strategic direction for businesses to tailor their products and services.
This study was conducted to find a way to reduce the production of cakes generated in the domestic aggregate production process. Cakes from 8 wet aggregate producers were collected and particle size was analyzed. Samples were collected step by step from an aggregate producer A, particle size analysis was performed, and the material balance was calculated before and after an sand recovery unit by modeling the production process. As a result of the particle size analysis of eight cakes, one sample contained 50% sand, and the rest contained about 5% to 25% sand. The results showing that the cake contained a variety of sand in cakes may indicate that the recovery efficiency of the sand recovery units in the field varied. Sieve analysis of the samples showed that the generation of sand particles increased 2.8 times during the third crushing compared to the second crushing, and more cake particles were generated. As a result of simulating the sand recovery unit model, the lower the cut point of the cyclone and dewatering screen, the higher the sand production and the less cake production appeared. In order to reduce the production of cake in the field, it was determined that an optimal operation of the sand recovery unit was necessary in the aggregate production process.
