We propose compact solutions of mirror, lens-mirror, and lens systems with maximum available angular resolutions and other parameters. Examples of calculating the optical systems of lenses used for various tasks both in the field of astronomy and in the field of remote sensing of the Earth and other planets are given. The example of onboard computer system is discussed. Practical recommendations on the development and use of telescope lenses are given.
The security system using optical fiber is a system, circulating infrared rays laser pulse on the optical fiber which is attached on the security fence to prevent invasion, which can show invasion position with visible and audible signal on the situation monitor if an invader cut or pull the security fence with minuteness of 10m. The optical fiber can be also applied for the bed structure stability monitoring system of high speed train as well as security system. To apply this system for high speed railroad bed structures, this system will give an alarm if it detect excessive tension, shrinkage, deflection which is beyond the limit of structure, that will prevent serious railroad accident. In this paper, we like to propose that applying this system for security and structure stability can improve confidence and stability on operation of railways
We describe holographic ROM system to read bit-type data. It has optical system similar to general optical data storage system such as DVD. But because holographic data storage systems have to adopt imaging optical system, in our system bit-type data can be read out by different servos with DVD. We devised 3-hole method similar to 3- beam method for the tracking servo and used astigmatic optical system for the focusing servo. Also we developed the reference beam servo to measure movement of reference beam because especially holographic data storage systems need reference beam. The system was operated by these three servos and objective lens of NA 0.6. We obtained eye pattern from random data of 3T-2um track pitch. We also obtained another eye pattern from DVD disk by only using focusing servo PDIC in our system to verify the compatibility with DVD.
In recently, interests in the New & Renewable Energy are increasing because of exhaustion of fossil energy and limit of greenhouse gas emission all over the world. Furthermore, improvements in living standards and high-raise Buildings due to the industrial growth require a lot of sunlight in the interior space. Sunlight system gets the natural light into the indoor dark space. There are a lot of type of systems which are reflector type, duct type, optical fibers type and so on. And these systems consist of light-collection module, light-transporting module and light-emitting module. In this research, we installed optical fiber sunlight system in our head office building and tested the system's performance and efficiency. Optical fiber sunlight system is closely connected with hour of sunlight, due to the system have to chase the sun for the solar concentrating, and the system's light-collection and light- transporting efficiency is important factors in the system's performance. As a result of the test, system can be used about 5.66 hours on average in a day, and it has a about 3.21 times collection efficiency and 5.5% transmission loss.
We propose the development and test result of new optical axis alignment system for the interchangeable F/8 secondary mirror of the BOAO 1.8m telescope system. Since the original system was not equipped with a suitable optical alignment facility, the whole alignment process was performed by hand. It was necessary at least three persons working more than 2 nights and the altitude of the telescope could not exceed 10 degrees, in such altitude the alignment quality was not so good by atmospheric effect. The new system adopts position readable motorized system and remote control operation by the computer installed in observation room, which reduces the number of workers to only one and eliminates the altitude restriction. The defocused CCD image pair obtained at higher altitude makes the aberration estimates more accurately and the number of required alignment loops is reduced from 10 to 4. The system has been installed on September 1, and performed alignment three times. The test results show that the system is stable and accurate, gives better optical performance of the telescope under F/8 focus. We hope to emphasize the fact that the new system will increase observation time of the telescope by about 20 nights per year assuming one alignment in every month.
We propose a new optical method which conceals the data of authorized persons by encryption before they are stored or compared in the pattern recognition system for security systems. This proposed security system is made up of two subsystems : a proposed optical encryption system and a pattern recognition system based on the JTC which has been shown to perform well. In this system, each image of authorized persons as a reference image is stored in memory units through the proposed encryption system. And if a fingerprint image is placed in the input plane of this security system for access to a restricted area, the image is encoded by the encryption system then compared with the encrypted reference image. Therefore because the captured input image and the reference data are encrypted, it is difficult to decrypt the image if one does not know the encryption key bit stream. The basic idea is that the input image is encrypted by performing optical XOR operations with the key bit stream that is generated by digital encryption algorithms. The optical XOR operations between the key bit stream and the input image are performed by the polarization encoding method using the polarization characteristics of LCDs. The results of XOR operations which are detected by a CCD camera should be used as an input to the JTC for comparison with a data base. We have verified the idea proposed here with computer simulations and the simulation results were also shown.
A three-dimensional image capturing device and its signal processing algorithm and apparatus are presented. Three dimensional information is one of emerging differentiators that provides consumers with more realistic and immersive experiences in user interface, game, 3D-virtual reality, and 3D display. It has the depth information of a scene together with conventional color image so that full-information of real life that human eyes experience can be captured, recorded and reproduced. 20 Mega-Hertz-switching high speed image shutter device for 3D image capturing and its application to system prototype are presented[1,2]. For 3D image capturing, the system utilizes Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle by means of 20MHz high-speed micro-optical image modulator, so called 'optical resonator'. The high speed image modulation is obtained using the electro-optic operation of the multi-layer stacked structure having diffractive mirrors and optical resonance cavity which maximizes the magnitude of optical modulation[3,4]. The optical resonator is specially designed and fabricated realizing low resistance-capacitance cell structures having small RC-time constant. The optical shutter is positioned in front of a standard high resolution CMOS image sensor and modulates the IR image reflected from the object to capture a depth image (Figure 1). Suggested novel optical resonator enables capturing of a full HD depth image with depth accuracy of mm-scale, which is the largest depth image resolution among the-state-of-the-arts, which have been limited up to VGA. The 3D camera prototype realizes color/depth concurrent sensing optical architecture to capture 14Mp color and full HD depth images, simultaneously (Figure 2,3). The resulting high definition color/depth image and its capturing device have crucial impact on 3D business eco-system in IT industry especially as 3D image sensing means in the fields of 3D camera, gesture recognition, user interface, and 3D display. This paper presents MEMS-based optical resonator design, fabrication, 3D camera system prototype and signal processing algorithms.
One of the problems facing in all modern dental hospitals is the much efforts, manpower and space are needed to effectively sort and stack patients' charts of the various dental departments. In addition, the storage and prompt arrangement of x-ray films is also a problem. Therefore, if dental charts as well as films could be computerized, it would be easier to store and keep them; by data basing, many space, manpower and cost would be saved: data could also be effectively managed for the purpose of academic researches. This would be an epoch -making event in the development of dental hospital management. The purpose of this study is to develop a dental information processing program, that will be used to store dental treatment records and digital image data using a new record media, the optical card. The patients' charts from the dental hospital were selected. The treatment records of the chart were put into the treatment data -recording area of the program, and the digital images of various dental x-ray films were made with a scanner. These data were stored in the optical card and analyzed to get the following results: 1. In this program it is possible to put treatment records and image data into and out from the optical card, and it is impossible to correct and delete all data recorded on the optical card. 2. All data in the optical card system can be searched and analyzed on database. 3. The resolution of image data stored in optical card is above 5.9 lp/mm. 4, All data of dental charts used as samples, stored to optical cards, occupies average 14%, In conclusion, with the development of the storage system using the optical card, a dental patient's life-time treatment record can be stored in one optical card and used as a substitute for the dental chart.
This is a research to apply 1310nm single-mode optical fiber to a temperature sensor. The existing study of optical fiber sensor is complicated because it was made with various equipment. To vary scattering, the variation of optical frequency is measured by using Bragg(lattice) or pulse generator and also bulk system is created by YAG laser but there were some difficulties creating experimental environment and it was a problem that the stability of measured data was low. The temperature sensor system using the suggested sBs(stimulated Brillouin scattering:sBs) from this research is much more simplified straight-line system. To improve the trust and accuracy of noises from optical frequency and unclear results, it was analysed by using Neuro-Fuzzy algorithm. we tried to get more correct data than existing system. sBs measure that optical frequency changed due to the variation of temperature. The analyzed change rate of outcome by Fuzzy theory is 1.1 MHz.
To solve the pathological problems of the musculoskeletal system based on evidence, a sophisticated analysis of human motion is required. Traditional optical motion capture systems with high validity and reliability have been utilized in clinical practice for a long time. However, expensive equipment and professional technicians are required to construct optical motion capture systems, hence they are used at a limited capacity in clinical settings despite their advantages. The development of information technology has overcome the existing limit and paved the way for constructing a motion capture system that can be operated at a low cost. Recently, with the development of computer vision-based technology and optical markerless tracking technology, webcam-based 3D human motion analysis has become possible, in which the intuitive interface increases the user-friendliness to non-specialists. In addition, unlike conventional optical motion capture, with this approach, it is possible to analyze motions of multiple people at simultaneously. In a non-optical motion capture system, an inertial measurement unit is typically used, which is not significantly different from a conventional optical motion capture system in terms of its validity and reliability. With the development of markerless technology and advent of non-optical motion capture systems, it is a great advantage that human motion analysis is no longer limited to laboratories.
