A study on the sleeve-shaped platform of POF-based joint angle sensor for arm movement-monitoring clothing (인체동작 모니터링 위한 광섬유 기반 의류 소매형 동작센서 연구)

  • Although diverse researches on sensing method of human movement have been performed, there are still many limitations to the existing methods. As a part of supplementing the limitations to the existing motion sensing methods, this study aimed to execute an exploratory examination on a POF-based sleeve-shaped motion sensor for less restrictive sensing of human movement. In this study, a set of POF-based motion sensor, which was embedded in a sleeve-shaped platform was devised, and a set of exploratory experiments was performed on the possibility of sensing of human movement as diverse as in daily life, through this device. The scope of this research was limited to an exploration on the possibility and basic elements of POF-based sleeve-shaped motion sensor, while the influence of sleeve patterns, those of wearer's somatotype, those of sewing method were not studied in this study. When compared to the pre-existing methods, the POF-based motion sensor platformed on sleeve in this study, which was purposively devised to be applied to the motion sensing clothing shows some beneficial characteristics : more sensitive measurement on human motion, low cost, no timely restriction in sensing, no request for gigantic apparatus and space for sensing.

  • Wii Remote is the primary controller for Nintendo's Wii console. A main feature of the Wii Remote is its motion sensing capability, which allows the user to interact with and manipulate items on screen via movement and pointing through the use of accelerometer and optical sensor technology. Another feature is its expandability through the use of Bluetooth. In this Study, use of motion sensors and Bluetooth capabilities. The user holding the remote on the screen, pointing to receive information about the values of the coordinates on the screen indicating the drawing of the implementation.

A Study of Laboratory Measurement of EO GRD Resolution for Airborne EO/IR Sensor (항공용 EO/IR 센서의 EO GRD 분해능 실험실 측정 연구)

  • EO GRD(Ground Resolved Distance) resolution of airborne EO/IR(Electro-Optical/Infrared) sensor is a critical factor in test and evaluation for EO sensor performance. We propose the laboratory measurement set-up for EO GRD by constructing optical collimator which includes integrated sphere, blackbody, equivalent 3-bar target and 6 DOF motion simulator. GRD is measured in the photographic imagery of bar targets by 3 different distances for 3 EO/IR sensors and the measured results were analyzed statistically. We found that at least 7 sheets of imagery are needed in order to obtain meaningful EO GRD. The result of statistical analysis shows that the distribution of the measured GRD is nearly symmetric about the average GRD, and the better imagery ratio above the average GRD is about 40~70%. Also from the best GRD analysis, it is estimated that the design goal for EO GRD should be 30% superior to the required GRD.

  • A sensor modeling via artificial neural network is presented in this paper. The optical sensor has been designed to treasure absolute 3-dimensional positions and orientations of objects in 6-DOF. The method utilizes a triangular pyramidal mirror having an equilateral cross-sectional shape referred as 3-facet mirror. The mirror has three lateral reflective surfaces inclined 45 degrees to its bottom surface. The 3-facet mirror is mounted on the object whose 6-DOF motion is to be measured.   • In this paper, temperature-induced optical phase shifts in single-mode fibers are studied both analytically and experimentally. Temperature sensor using single-mode fiber interferometer is designed and the temperature sensitivity of the sensor system is investigated. This fiber-optic temperature sensor which employs the Mach-Zehnder arrangement is a high sensitivity sensor of phase detection type. In this type, temperature changes are ob-served as a motion of an optical interference fringe pattern. In the measurements using interferometer, one of the important problems is to detect simultaneously the number and direction of fringe displacement resulting from physical perturbations (temperature, pressure, etc.). To realize this, the array detector using multi-mode fiber is designed. By this array detector the number and direction of fringe displacement is Ineasured very conveniently.

Optimized Optomechanical Anti-Aliasing Filter for Digital Camera Photography

  • We investigated an anti-aliasing (AA) filter for digital camera photography by which the excessively high-frequency components of the image signal are suppressed to avoid the aliasing effect. Our optomechanical AA filter was implemented by applying rapid relative motions to the imaging sensor. By the engineered motion blur of the mechanical dithers, the effective point-spread function (PSF) of the imaging system could be tailored to reject the unwanted high-frequency components of the image. For optimal operations, we developed a spiral filter motion protocol that could produce a Gaussian-like PSF. We experimentally demonstrated that our AA filter provides an improved filtering characteristic with a better compromise of the rejection performance and the signal loss. We also found that the pass band characteristic can be enhanced further by a color-differential acquisition mode. Our filter scheme provides a useful method of digital photography for low-error image measurements as well as for ordinary photographic applications where annoying $moir{\acute{e}}$ patterns must be suppressed efficiently.

  • Spindle state monitoring is getting more and more important according to the technology trend of spindle that is accurate and automated. Spindle state monitoring is to measure the state of rotation vibrations. The spindle rotation error motion detected by sensing device includes rotation object's unbalance, external forced vibrations, shape error of spindle, as well as measuring error of monitoring device. In this paper, we have inspected the runout characteristics. Also, we introduce the way to exclude the runout element that appear while you monitor a spindle state.

  • We fabricated optical sensor system that take a measurement particles using a line-CCD in ocean. To measure particles, we used 680nm laser diode which is appropriate. we tested to operate optical system in water tank and ocean. It has performance that detected signal of sensors transfer microprocessor, FPGA as long as move up and down it's motion. The system algorithm also analysis output -pressure, temperature, particle numbers in depth.-For experiment, our particle sensor system has high accuracy counter. therefore, we proposed that a line-CCD is available on optical sensor system in ocean.
