  • In this present the transient control of SBS chaos induced instability in Brillouin-active fiber systems is described. The inherent optical feedback by the backscattered Stokes wave in optical fiber systems leads to instabilities in the form of optical chaos. At weak power, the nature of the Brillouin instability can occur at before threshold. At strong power, the temporal evolution above threshold is periodic and at higher intensity can become chaotic. Multistable periodic states, makes transition to logic 'on' or 'off'. It can make theoretically potential large memory capacity.

  • 광을 기반으로 한 논리 연산은 전자 소자의 속도 한계 및 연산 용량의 한계를 극복할 대안으로 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 초고속 전광 논리 연산의 구현은 대부분 물질의 비선형성을 이용하며 특히 광섬유의 비선형 Ken 효과를 이용한 Sagnac 간섭계의 형태를 이용한 논리 연산이 주로 연구되어 왔다$^{(1)}$ . 그러나 광섬유의 비선형성을 이용하기 위해서는 충분히 큰 광 강도가 필요하며 회로 구성에 있어서도 크기가 크다는 단점이 있다. 최근에는 반도체 광증폭기의 비선형 이득 포화 현상을 이용한 TOAD 등이 발표되어 상대적으로 크기도 감소하고 사용되는 광 강도 역시 감소시킬 수 있었다$^{(2)}$ . 간섭계를 이용한 광논리의 구현은 Sagnac 간섭계 뿐만 아니라 비선형 특성을 갖는 도파로로 구성된 Mach-Zehnder 간섭계, Michelson 간섭계 등도 이용이 가능하다. Development of a Guiding System for the High-Speed Self-Align Cable Winding (고속 자동정렬 케이블 와인딩을 위한 가이딩 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, the demand for the optical cable is rapidly growing because the number of internee user increases and high speed internet data transmission is required. But the present optical cable winding systems has some serious problems such as pile-up and collapse of cable usually near the flange of the bobbin in the process of the cable winding. To reduce the pile-up collapse in a cable winding systems, a new guiding system is developed for a high-speed self-align cable winding. First of all, the winding mechanism was analyzed and synchronization logics for the motions of winding, traversing, and the guiding were created. A prototype cable winding systems was manufactured to validate the new guiding system and the suggested logic. Experiment results showed that the winding system with the developed guiding system outperformed the system without the guiding system in reducing pile-up and collapse in the high-speed winding.

  • By using an XPM (Cross Phase Modulation) wavelength converter, an all-optical AND gate, which is one of six fundamental logic gates, has been demonstrated. The wavelengths for probe and pump signals are 1553.8 and 1545 nm, respectively. First, characteristics of the XPM wavelength converter have been studied. When both probe and pump signals are driven by high power, the output power of the XPM wavelength is high. Based on this fact and the experiment, the all-optical AND gate has been porved. Probe and pump signals are transformed to pulse signals by using Mach-Zehnder modulator, which is induced by a pulse generator. Square pulse signals that are similar to the format of NRZ signals have been generated. By coupling two pulse signals into the XPM wavelength converter, AND characteristics in substantiated.

  • This paper proposed a fuzzy logic cross coupled controller which can enhance the path tracking performance of optically guided AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle). The AGV follows the guide path, it cannot be avoid the deviation from the path due to the inevitable error and the deviation must be corrected. Optically guided AGV used in industrial area is controlled by On-Off controller generally, the experimental AGV has three optical sensors in front body. In this structure, we could not know the leaving distance accurately and steering angle from the guided line, so AGV could not be controlled properly with conventional controller in the case of increasing or decreasing velocity. If we mount additional sensors the AGV, we could know the leaving distance and steering angle from the guided line and proper error compensating methode can be applied. But because cost of sensors are high, the cost of total system is increasing. So, in this paper, to improve the tracking performance of AGV which has the minimum number of sensors and fuzzy logic cross coupled controller is proposed. Some simulations and experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • In switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive, it is necessary to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position. Therefore the rotor position information is an essential. Usually optical encoders or resolvers are used to provide the rotor position information. These sensors are expensive and are not suitable for high speed operation. In general, the accuracy of the switching angles is dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor. But the region of high speed, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth from the preset values, witch are cause by the sampling period of the microprocessor. Therefore, the low cost linear encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using the simple digital logic circuit is also presented in this paper It is verified from the experiments that the proposed encoder and logic controller can be a powerful candidate for the practical low cost SRM drive.

  • In this paper, we describe an optical detection at the front and design an on-off control system of spray gun for economical paint spray when painted on hanger any things that it have arbitrary two-dimensional image. The objectives of this paper that, as changing of software, find useful logic variation of spray, and are to enhance of environments for workman and to decrease economical loss of painting.
