Design and Performance Evaluation of a Complementary Filter for Inverted Pendulum Control with Inertial Sensors (관성센서를 이용한 도립진자의 제어를 위한 상보필터 설계 및 성능평가)

  • This paper designs and evaluates a complementary filter for fusion of inertial sensor signals. Specifically, the designed filter is applied to inverted pendulum control where the pendulum's angle information is obtained from low-cost tilt and gyroscope sensors instead of an optical encoder. The complementary filter under consideration is a conventional one which consists of low- and high-pass filters. However, to improve the performance of the filter on the gyroscope, we use an integrator in the filter's outer loop. Frequency responses are obtained with both tilt and gyroscope sensors. Based on the frequency response results, we determine appropriate parameter values for the filter. The performance of the designed complementary filter is evaluated by applying the filter to inverted pendulum control. Experiments show that the performance of the designed filter is comparable to that of an optical encoder and low-cost inertial sensors can be used for inverted pendulum control with the heir of sensor fusion.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel encoder/decoder for an optical CDMA(code division multiple access) system by using an array of SSFBGs(superstructured fiber Bragg gratings). The feasibility of the system is shown by the simulations. The Q-factor for the system was 14.53 dB when the well-known Gold codes are used.

  • In this paper, a mobile robot is designed for the blind guidance. This system is composed of an Ultrasonic Ranging Vnit, PWM Vnit, Optical Encoder Vnit. Specilly we adapted Distance Comparison Measurement Method (DCMM) in order to compensate for the error resulted from atmospheric conditions, and PWM unit for the vehicle control and Optical encoder unit for the correct locomotion control. This system is processed, using MCS-85 microcomputer, much of information on surrounding conduitions in real time. We rotated ultrasonic sensor for many sifted data acquisition and used tone generator for the Man-Machine Communication. As a result, the measurement error of the distance is about 1cm, the distance measurement could be detected 0.2m to 6m. The locomotion speed is 0.4m/sec and we examined its practical use.

  • 1980년대 CDMA의 기술을 광통신에 도입된 이후 최근까지 광 CDMA에 대한 연구는 실험실 수준에서 이루어져 왔다. 최근 인터넷 사용의 급격한 증가로 가입자까지 광신호를 보내려는 노력이 많이 이루어지고 있으며, 그 방안으로 많은 광 가입자를 수용할 수 있는 광 CDMA 기술이 각광 받으면서 광CDMA 시스템을 생산하는 회사가 생기기 시작하고 있다. 광 CDMA 기술에는 시간지연을 이용한 방법, 광 스위치를 이용한 방법[1], FBG/AWG를 이용한 방법, 공간필터를 이용한 방법 등이 연구되어 지고 있으며, 이중에서 광 스위치를 이용한 광 CDMA 방식은 encoder/decoder의 채널을 변경하기 쉬운 장점을 지니고 있다.   • Information of rotor position is necessary to drive Linear Switched Reluctance Motor(LSRM). Therefore, linear optical encoder is used to detect a mover position. Normally, since the price of encoder, which is used for linear motor is relatively higher than the one used for rotory motor and the cost of additional equipment increases with the length of motor. As a results, LSRM has a great part for the total cost. In this paper, as using reflective type photo-sensors, it replaced the expensive linear encoder.

  • In this paper, the shape of the slit to provide a view of the sensor in such a manner as to encode the rotor position information using a single sensor for studies of economic rotor position and speed detection method for electric motor drive has a special electronic commutator bar-and proposes a robust encoder can produce a rotor position information for each of the woman, and reads out the location information by using the position detection method of the proposed new method compared to traditional DSP Capture function of incremental encoder that its validity was verified through experiments.

  • In switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive, it is necessary to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position. Therefore the rotor position information is an essential. Usually optical encoders or resolvers are used to provide the rotor position information. These sensors are expensive and are not suitable for high speed operation. In the paper, the low cost linear encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using the simple digital logic circuit is also presented in this paper. It is verified from the experiments that the proposed encoder and logic controller can be a powerful candidate for the practical low cost SRM drive.

  • Energy consumption rapidly increases with industrial development. therefore an interest in the efficiency of various power converters is increasing. Especially, the field of high-efficiency small motors widely distributed for industrial and family use is considered a very important field in terms of efficient energy usage, and accordingly, in the field of small electric equipment, the use of BLDC that allows high-efficiency drive in an inductor gradually increases. However, for the BLDC drive, information on the position of the rotor is essential. Both methods using a magnetic encoder and an optical encoder to detect the information on the position of the rotor obtain the information by three position sensitive devices, and if any one of these position sensitive devices fails to function, no positional information can be obtained, so there is a limitation in implementing a position sensor with high reliability. In the paper, proposes a new type of encoder that can obtain the positional information on the position of the rotor using a single position sensor in order to overcome the issues that it has to use numerous signal flows and that the reliability is reduced for the acquisition of positional information generated by using multiple position detectors. The encoder in the proposed method replaced the function of generating positional information from multiple sensors with the shape of the encoder plate and the capture function of MICOM. In order to verify the validity of the position detection technique by the proposed encoder, a prototype was produced, and an experiment using the capture function of DSP was conducted through this.

Performance Analysis of an Optical CDMA System for multi-user Environment (다중 사용자 환경에서의 광 CDMA 시스템 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we implement an optical code division multiple access(OCDMA) system and analyze the performance of the implemented system. In the implemented system, a transmitter encodes input data into optical pulses by using laser diode, and spreads the encoded pulses in an encoder which consists of 4 stage delay lines. The decoder which is the same structure as that of encoder delays and combines the spreaded pulses, and thus recovers the original data. At first, we discuss the auto- and cross-correlations of OCDMA signals under both environments of single user and multi-users, and then verify the simulation results with experimental results. We also evaluate the effect of a number of stages of delay line and code length on the system performance through computer simulations. As experimental results we can see that if the decoder have the same configuration as that of encoder, the peak auto-correlation characteristics can be achieved, and thus we can recover the original data from received data. As simulation results we can see that although bit error rate decreases as code length decreases or the number of stage of delay line increases, it is difficult to implement the system because the pulse width becomes narrow. From the results, we can apply CDMA technologies to optical communication networks.
