가동 자석형 광 픽업 엑추에이터 개발 (Design of Moving Magnet Type Optical Pickup Actuator)

  • Recently, as the demand of the information storage devices with large storage capacity such as BD(Blu-ray Disk) and HDTV(high-definition television) is increased, the optical storage devices are also required to have fast data transfer rate and large storage capacity. To satisfy these requirements, the actuator for optical disk drive should have high flexible mode frequencies for system stability. In this paper, we suggested a moving magnet type actuator having high flexible mode frequency. However, the moving magnet type actuator does not have sufficient driving sensitivities due to the weight of its moving part. To improve driving sensitivities, we designed the model with the closed electromagnetic circuit for tracking direction. In addition, driving sensitivities and flexible mode frequencies were improved by using DOE(Design of Experiments) for magnetic circuit and modifying the lens holder. Consequently, it is confirmed that the designed model is satisfied with the desired specifications.

  • Recently, optical pickup actuators have been designed to have structures that extruded lens to decrease their height, because they are used in very thin drive for notebook computers. However, because of discordant and undesirable of forces that are supposed to happen in this design feature, subsidiary resonance such as rolling and pitching mode exert bad influence on actuator. In this paper, we presented force constituents to clarify the cause of subsidiary resonance and proposed new finite element analysis method to calculate force precisely, and performed frequency response analysis to evaluate characteristics of actuators. As a result, we could find out design parameters to diminish the influence of subsidiary resonance. Sample actuators designed with appropriate parameters were fabricated and put to practical tests. Comparing analysis with experimental results, we verified the accuracy of the analysis and the effectiveness of the method presented.

  • For high density optical storage, there should be a high NA objective lens and a shorter wavelength laser diode. To secure the disc tilt margin related to the coma aberration, moreover, it's difficult to apply the tilt compensation mechanism into the portable PC. In this paper, we proposed the 3-axis asymmetry pickup actuator with high efficiency symmetric magnetic circuit, which consisted of the top cover type inner yoke for high magnetic flux density, the coil stack unit for the 3-axis independent operation and vertically polarized magnets.   • Recently, the optical disk drive that is thin in thickness has been demanded by the popularization of notebook PC. The device that controls the thickness of a drive is the height of optical pickup. Therefore, researches about this are going on and an asymmetric actuator is the good choice fur this target. However, the actuator of this design has troubles that a subsidiary resonance is likely to be actuated by discord between the center of force and the mass of renter. In this paper, relation between the tracking coil and the subsidiary resonance is analyzed and dynamic characteristics of an actuator are improved by using experiments design and response surface method.

  • This study shows the vibration characteristics of an actuator with six wire-suspensions, used in optical pickups of optical disc drives (ODDs). In this paper, the vibration characteristics of this beam structure is induced mathematically. To obtain vibration modes of focusing direction, the vibration analysis is achieved in lateral and longitudinal directions of the structure. The accuracy of induced vibration characteristics is proved by comparing mode frequencies with a finite element analysis. Finally, it is shown that mode shapes can be modified by changing design parameters in mathematical expressions.

  • Recently, there have been many researches and developments in optical disc drive by high density of track and high access speed. Therefore, the optical pick-up should guarantee highly accurate dynamic characteristics for the wide bandwidth in order to cope with this trend. These demands for optical pick-up actuator can be solved by improvements of lens-holder through the following methods. The first way is the analysis of the sensitivity matrix of design variables for vibration modes after appropriate design parameters are selected like shapes and local dimensions of a lens-holder. The second way is the optimization of design variables by calculating sequential linear programming after the problem of extending bandwidth are converted to problem of minimizing adequate objective function. In the result, modified FE model is obtained through several iterations by finite difference scheme(FDS). While results of the first way show better convergence of the target frequency, the second result shows better reduction of mass increase.

  • A moving-magnet type pickup actuator is proposed, which has the back-yoke to improve th sensitivity. Through the magnetic path analysis, we can find that the flux density is increased i the air gap by the pole assignment of magnet and the adding of back-yoke can reduce the flu leakage and induce 40% up of flux density. Experimental results show that the sensitivity i improved in the tracking direction, however, the improvement doesn't occur in the focusing direction. Finally, the compensation performance is tested in HD-DVD system. And it is verifie that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}$0.7$^{\circ}$.

  • Nowadays, various approaches are performed to increase the storage capacity of optical storage device. One of the promising candidates is using the high NA lens. By using high NA lens, the beam spot size can be reduced which will lead to increase the storage density. This paper proposes a double cantilever beam type bimorph PZT actuator for fine motion that can control the gap between the flexible media and optical pickup which uses high NA lens. Mathematical model is derived by using Hamilton's principle and the model is verified by finite element analysis and experiment. Position controller is designed and its performance is evaluated by experiment.

  • 최근 디지털 정보 처리 기술의 획기적인 발전과 함께 저가의 반도체 레이저의 개발로 말미암아 광기록 장치(optical pickup device) 및 고속 광통신(optical fiber communication)분야에 응용을 위한 레이저 광학 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발하다. 광신호의 커플링(coupling) 및 스위칭(switching)을 기반으로 하는 이러한 광학 시스템은 일반적으로 광신호의 변조를 위한 광학 요소와 광학 요소의 공간적 제어를 위한 정밀 구동기로 구성되는데, 기존의 상용 시스템의 경우에는 독립적으로 기 제작된 광학 요소와 정밀 구동기를 사후에 조립하는 방법으로 소기의 목적을 달성하였다. 이와 같은 경우 제작에 많은 노력과 비용이 요구되며, 성능의 획기적인 향상을 기대하기 어려우므로 최근에는 Optical MEMS 혹은 MOEMS(Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical System)로 대변되는 마이크로머시닝기술(micromachining technology)을 이용한 초정밀 광학계의 제작 기술을 통하여 기존 시스템의 한계를 극복하고자 하는 노력이 다각도로 모색되고 있다.   • 보호층 0.1mm두께의 20GB이상의 광디스크를 기록·재생하는 High Density Optical System에서는 Blue-violet laser와 NA(Numerical Aperture)0.85의 High NA의 대물렌즈를 사용한 Optical Pick Up이 필요로 된다. 종래의 대물렌즈는 glass 또는 plastic제의 2매 조합 대물렌즈가 많이 사용되어지고 있는데, 이는 두 렌즈간의 거리를 일정하게 유지시키기 위한 홀더 조립시의 공차가 엄격히 요구되며, 2매 조합 대물렌즈를 구동시키기 위한 actuator의 부피와 무게를 증가시킴으로서 구동감도를 감소시키는 단점이 있다.
