Polysaccharides Obtained from Vegetables: an effective source of alternative excipient

  • Polymers are the major constructive material of pharmaceutical formulations that play a prime role in designing effective drug-delivery systems and releasing drugs at their sites of application. Polymers are composed of multiple repeating units of high molecular mass components with attendant properties. Most synthetic polymers are non-biocompatible, expensive, and extremely inclined to deliver adverse impacts. Meanwhile, edible polymers obtained from natural sources have gained remarkable recognition for their promising use in modern medicine. Moreover, polymers derived from natural sources are generally preferred due to certain of their unique features such as abundant availability, biocompatibility, nontoxicity, economical, safe, and effective functions that fit the purpose. Polysaccharides including starch, cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, and mucilage are identified as a major class of naturally obtained molecules that have a substantial role as functional polymers. This review summarizes the potential role of polysaccharides derived from vegetable sources such as adhesives, anticaking agents, binders, disintegrants, emulsifiers, film-framing agents, and thickeners. This is simply an opportunity to abandon synthetic excipients that hurt our bodies and think back to nature from where we originate.

Design and Implementation of Web-Based Cooperative Learning System Co-Net

  • This study investigated to designand implement web-based collaborative learning system Co-Net and map out students' learning procedure using the system, based upon Student Team Achievement Division (STAD Slavin, 1990, 1996). There are technical process and instructional considerations to be made during the design process. The former are those that concern equipment requirements and specifications and include Ease of Use, Speed of Access, and Flexibility. On the other hand, instructional considerationsare concerned with the delivery and access of instructional materials and their outcomes on learners. They are cooperative interactions within groups and group heterogeneity, learner control, group incentives, individual accountability, equal opportunity for earning high scores and contributing to group effort, task specialization, and competition among groups. A web site for a virtual learning environment designed and built by the authors and known as Co-Net is then explained along with the whole process learners inside the environment. The main page of Co-Net consists of 15 menus to implement cooperative learning process. The cooperative learning activities using 15 menus are composed of six phases (1) preparation of the new knowledge (2) presentation of the new knowledge (3) knowledge assimilation and application (4) team and individual evaluation (5) team and individual recognition Throughout the five phases, the appropriate use of cooperative learning techniques has been shown to have both academic and social benefits to learners.

병원간호사의 보상 측정도구 개발 (Development of a Reward Scale for Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop and test a reward scale for hospital nurses. Methods: The initial items were identified through a literature review and focus group interviews with ten hospital nurses. The content validity of the items was evaluated by ten experts. Fifty-one items were derived from the pilot survey. Four hundred eighty-eight nurses participated in the study: 248 for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and 240 confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Data were analyzed using item analysis, EFA, CFA, convergent validity, known-group validity, and internal consistency using IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0 and IBM SPSS AMOS 29.0. Results: The final scale consisted of 31 items and eight factors (decent wage, opportunity to grow and develop, support for special situations, various benefits, flexibility of work, job-related achievement, reflecting career and performance, and recognition), which explained 67.3% of the total variance. The eight-subscale model was validated by CFA. Convergent validity was evaluated by analyzing correlation with intention to leave (r = - .63, p < .001) and job satisfaction (r = .54, p < .001). The known-group validity was evaluated by comparing the reward scales according to age, clinical career, income level and hospital type. The scale was found to be reliable with a Cronbach's α of .89. Conclusion: Both the validity and reliability of the reward scale for hospital nurses are verified, which can enhance the understanding of the range of rewards and may assist nurse managers in establishing an effective reward system.

장애인복지관에 근무하는 재활전문가들의 감각통합치료에 대한 인식조사 (A Study on the Cognition of Rehabilitation Practitioners Working at Community Rehabilitation Centers Toward Sensory Integration Therapy)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 우리나라에서 현재 감각통합치료가 많이 이루어지고 있는 장애인복지관에 근무하는 재활전문가들의 감각통합치료에 대한 인식수준과 인식도 및 일반적 특성에 따른 감각통합치료 인식도를 조사하였다. 연구방법: 감각통합치료에 대한 인식조사를 파악하는 설문지를 서울 경기, 대구 경북, 부산 울산 지역 장애인복지관에 근무하는 재활전문가 121명을 대상으로 직접 방문하여 자료를 수집하였다. 결과: 감각통합치료의 필요성에 대해 재활전문가들의 96.7%가 인식하고 있으나 감각통합치료에 관련된 정보를 구하기가 용이하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 재활전문가들의 93.4%가 감각통합치료에 대한 전문적 교육을 희망하고 있으며, 감각통합치료 인식개선을 위해 교육 활성화 필요에 대한 의견이 가장 많았다. 일반적 특성에 따른 감각통합치료 목적, 대상, 방법, 전문가의 기본요건에 대한 인식도를 조사한 결과 전문영역, 근무기관의 감각통합치료 서비스여부, 전문가의 감각통합치료 서비스여부, 전문가의 감각통합치료 서비스 경력과 경력유무에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 작업치료사의 인식도가 공통적으로 가장 높았다. 결론: 감각통합치료 인식개선을 위해 폭넓은 감각통합치료 교육 활성화가 요구되고, 재활관련기관 및 재활전문가들의 감각통합치료 인식수준과 인식도를 높이기 위해 홍보가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

비만여성과 정상체중 여성의 사회적지지 및 건강지각의 비교 (Comparative Study on Social Support and Perceived Health between Obese Women and Normal Weight Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare abdomen-fat rate, life style and social-support between normal weight women and obese women. Method: 304 women objectives from their 30 to 59 years of age were selected living in Je-chon city, Chung-Buck province and their height and weight were measured from April 1st to June 30th, 2003. Data were classified into low-weight group ($18.5kg/m^2$), normal-weight group ($18.5{\sim}22.9kg/m^2$), over weight group ($23{\sim}24.9kg/m^2$), and obese group ($25kg/m^2$) following the Korean Conference of Obesity, 2001. in which 119 people in the normal weight group and 91 people in the obese group, i.e. total 210 people were analyzed in sequence. Using SPSS Win 10.1 Program, frequency and percentile, and by ANOVA, $X^2-test$ and t-test were treated. Results: The average age of obese women was 46.68 distributing 40.7% of forties and 39.6% of fifties while normal-weight women were average 41.73-year old distributing 53.8% of forties and 34.5% of thirties, which revealed aged in obese women. The body fat rate of obese women averaged $37.52{\pm}4.17%$, in which 98.9% of obese women and 21.0% of normal weight women with a more than 30% of body-fat rate resulted in a higher body-fat rate in obese women. The waists of obese women averaged $88.37{\pm}8.22cm$, in which more than 85cm showed in obese women of 68.2% and normal weight women of 7.6% indicating a higher waist-fat rate in obese women. The abdomen-fat rate of more than 0.85 of waist vs hip-fat showed 74.7% in obese women and 58.4% in normal weight women, indicating a higher abdomen-fat rate in obese women. Obese women and normal weight women showed significant differences in education level, number of children, religion, menstrual status, and mother's weight. Especially, obese women ate hotter or saltier food than normal weight women preferring meat. However, no significant differences appeared in marital status, social economic status. occupation. eating habits. smoking. drinking and physical exercise. Social support levels showed a lower rate in obese women than in normal weight women, indicating a statistically significant difference (p<.05). Observing areas of social support, obese women showed lower rates in attachment/intimacy, social integrity, opportunity of foster and confidence in value except help and instruction, which indicated a statistically significant difference (p<.05). Social support for obese women showed significant differences in age, education level, social hierarchy, religion and menstrual status. Obese women were more negative than normal weight women in health recognition, indicating a statistically significant difference (p<.01). Normal weight women showed higher health recognition when provided high social support and significantly low (p<.01) health recognition when provided low social support. However, there was no significant difference in health recognition in obese women whether high or low social support was given. The health recognition of obese women showed significant differences in age, education level, social hierarchy, number of children, menstrual status, physical exercise, eating habits, eating taste and preference of food. Conclusion: Obese women showed elder than normal-weight women, higher body-fat rate and abdomen-fat rate, lower social support, and a tendency to more negative health recognition. Therefore, providing weight-control programs for the treatment of obesity and prevention of recurrence for obese women to prevent progressing to adult disease and promote a healthy life, we suggest that better eating habits and the encouragement of regular physical exercise should be included, as well as total approachment on change of health recognition and social support would be needed.

치료기회상실로 인한 손해배상에 있어서 피침해법익 (Legal Interest in Damages Regarding Loss of Treatment Chance)

  • 의료과오에 의한 손해배상책임의 인정은 크게 두 가지 축을 기본으로 하여 전개되어 왔다. 첫째는 의사의 과실 있는 진료행위가 있고 이로 인하여 생명·신체 등의 법익이 침해당하고, 생명·신체 침해로부터 발생한 재산적·비재산적 손해에 대한 배상이 문제되는 경우이다. 둘째는 의사의 설명의무 위반이 있고 이로 인하여 자기결정권이 침해당하고, 자기결정권 침해로부터 발생한 비재산적 손해에 대한 배상이 문제되는 경우이다. 그러나 의료과오가 있더라도 환자의 기존상태 등으로 말미암아 의사의 과실 있는 진료행위와 법익침해 사이에 인과관계 증명이 곤란하여 의사의 손해배상책임이 부정되는 경우가 있다. 예를 들어, 환자가 이미 심한 말기암에 걸려있어서 의사로부터 적절한 치료를 받았더라도 완치되었을 가능성이 매우 낮은 경우를 생각해 보자. 이 때 의사의 과실이 없더라도 환자는 사망하였을 가능성이 매우 크다는 이유로 환자에게 어떠한 손해배상도 인정하지 않는 것은 타당하지 않다. 의사의 과실 있는 진료행위로 인하여 환자에게는 최소한 정신적 고통과 같은 비재산적 손해가 발생하였기 때문이다. 위와 같은 경우에 우리 법원은 예외적으로 적절한 치료를 받을 기회를 상실했음을 이유로 하여 위자료 배상을 인정해주고 있다. 그러나 이론적 체계가 정교하지 못하여 어떤 것을 보호법익으로 삼는지 명확하게 밝히지 못하고 있다. 의사의 과실 있는 진료행위와 생명·신체라는 법익의 침해 사이에 인과관계가 부정되더라도 새로운 보호법익을 설정하여 환자에게 발생한 손해를 배상해주려는 최근의 논의가 바로 '치료기회상실의 법리'이다. 이 보호법익의 내용이 무엇인지에 관하여 치유가능성론, 기대권침해론, 연명할 상당한 정도의 가능성 침해론, 치료기회상실론 등이 주장되고 있다. 이 보호법익의 내용은 치료기회상실론에 따라 '의료수준에 비추어 적절한 치료를 받을 이익'으로 보는 것이 타당하다. 환자의 위와 같은 이익은 어느 누구로부터 침해받거나 방해받아서는 안 되는 인간의 존엄한 가치임과 동시에, 생명에 관한 근원적인 욕구이며 법적으로 보호받아야 할 가치 있는 이익이라고 할 수 있다. 이런 측면에서 '의료수준에 적절한 치료를 받을 이익'은 정신적 법익에 관한 일반적 인격권의 하나로써 구체화될 수 있다.

일부지역 치위생과 학생들의 치과홈페이지 인식도 조사 (An investigation on the recognition degrees of the dental clinics' homepages by students of dental hygienic departments in some areas)

  • Objectives : The study is to gain some basic material for the improvement of dental clinics' homepages through a survey investigation, in which college students of three Dental Hygienic departments participated in Kwangju and Cheollanamdo Province. Methods : In the investigation three factors were analyzed : the degree of knowledge on dental clinics' homepages, the degree of recognition on them, and whether they have paid a visit on them or not. A total of 509(96.8%) respondents are valid except 17sheets of responses. Results : 1. When asked about the degrees of knowledge on the formation of the homepages by students' years, the correct rate on Information Service was higher in a row of the second year, the first year, and the third year. And it shows statistically significant difference(p<0.05). In the part of Counseling Service, the rate of correct answers was highest in the second year, and then the first year and the third year. It also shows significant difference(p<0.05). In case of Visual Service, the second year got the highest rate of correct answers, and then the first year and the third year. Here is significant difference by the school years<0.01) 2. It was asked whether they have visited the dental clinics' homepages. The results are like this: 145 sophomores(28.5%) have visited them, and 115 juniors(22.6%) and 85 freshmen(16.7%), and it show significant difference (p<0.001). 3. It was asked how many sites they have visited. Among the freshmen, not a few students visited two sites (34, 9.9%), among sophomores 48 students visited five sites(13.9%), and among juniors the highest answers were two sites (41, 11.9%). It shows signigicant difference(p<0.01). 4. It was asked what is the purpose of the visits. At this 27 freshmen answered for having counseling(7.8%), and 80 sophomores(23.3%) and 43 juniors(12.5%) answered they visited them for the purpose of gaining some materials about their major. It shows significant difference(p<0.001). 5. It was asked with what opportunity they have visited them. They answered through searching activities like this : freshmen (68, 19.8%), sophomores (130, 37.9%), and juniors (98, 28.6%). It shows significant difference(p<0.05). 6. In regard with the recognition of the homepages, all the participants said that the management of the homepages are closely related with the images of the clinics($3.96{\pm}0.781$). But it is found that they do not think that the effective management of dental clinics' homepages is the task of dental hygienic workers as a part of dental hygienic($3.12{\pm}0.971$). 7. There is some difference concerned with the homepages among each group of students; sophomores have highest recognition on them and then juniors and freshmen, and it shows significant difference(p<0.01). In addition, those who have visited them show higher recognition than those who have never visited them(p<0.001). Conclusions : There are some differences among each group of students in regard with the formation service, the purpose of visiting them and such experiences, and the opportunities. Whereases they think that the management of the homepages are closely related with the images of the clinics, they do not think that the effective management of dental clinics' homepages is the task of dental hygienic workers as a part of dental hygienic. Therefore it is necessary to study actively for the qualitative improvement of the dental clinics' homepages, which will result in the higher recognition on the homepages by the dental hygienic students and the workers.

대학생들의 글쓰기 능력 인식 분석을 통한 교과 운영 개선 방안 : J대학의 학생 설문 분석을 중심으로 (Way to the Improvement of Curriculum Management by Analyzing the Perception of Writing Ability of University Students : Focusing on the Analysis of Student Surveys in J University)

  • 이 연구는 대학생들의 글쓰기에 대한 인식을 분석하고 글쓰기 교육의 개선 방안을 찾고자 J대학 학생들을 대상으로 글쓰기 학습 내용, 글쓰기 자기 능력 평가, 글쓰기 능력에 대한 인식, 글쓰기 교육 방향에 대한 인식 등을 설문하여 조사·분석하였다. 이를 통해 글쓰기 교육의 운영 개선 방안에 대해 논의하였다. 대학생들의 인식을 조사·분석한 결과 대학생들은 글쓰기 능력을 중요하게 인식하고 있으며, 이론 수업보다는 실제 글을 써보고 피드백을 받는 실제적인 글쓰기 수업을 원하였다. 또한 글의 내용을 구성하고 전개해가는 부분에 대한 능력을 키우고 싶은 것으로 나타났다. 글쓰기 교육이 대학생들에게 실질적인 역량이 될 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 이론 강의도 중요하지만 실질적으로 글을 써볼 수 있는 충분한 시간과 기회를 부여해야 하며, 전공 맞춤형 실무글쓰기의 개발이 필요하다. 또한 다양한 수업 방식을 통해 학생들이 참여할 수 있는 글쓰기 수업이 되도록 해야하며, 대학 졸업 인증 요건 등의 방법을 통해 졸업 후 사회에 진출해서도 글쓰기 능력이 실무역량으로 이어질 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이 연구는 글쓰기와 관련한 대학생들의 인식을 통해 대학 글쓰기 교육의 방향을 모색해 볼 수 있다는데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

의료기관 경쟁력 향상에 영향을 미치는 핵심 요인 (The Critical Factors on Improvement of Medical institution Competitiveness)

  • The study carried out a survey with employees of hospitals located in Daejeon, Chungnam, and Chungbuk from Sep. 12 to Sep. 30, 2005 in order to derive primary elements that affect the improvement of hospital's competitiveness. The study investigated and analyzed the employees' recognition on the change of competitive environment caused by the change of medical environment. The study also analyzed the elements that affect the hospital's competitiveness and the competitive strategies of the hospitals. The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. Summary 1) Most of the employees responded that there is a rival in the competitive environment and the competitive is intense. Especially when the employees are married, live in urban areas, have an education level of university graduate or are managers, they tend to think the competitive is very intense. Also, they said that the competitive is based upon the quality of medical service. They mentioned the element that has the biggest effect on the competitiveness is the element of medical consumer and they recognized that the medical services in university and general hospitals have more competitiveness than the one-department hospitals. 2) It was investigated that the medical technique service has the most effect on the hospital's competitiveness. Also, the external service of medical techniques also has a large effect on the hospital's competitiveness. 3) When they were asked for the factors that affect the patients' decision on selecting a hospital, most of them responded "capability and technique of the medical staffs." Also, they said that "sufficient explanation from doctors" and "special center and clinic" are the factors that have big effects on the patients' decision. 4) In the SWOT analysis, most of them responded that the strength is the hospital's characteristics and the weakness is insufficient and obsolete equipment. They said the opportunity is the demands for professional medical service and the risk is the intense competitive among the hospitals. 5) In the SWOT strategy, they emphasized the strategy that uses the opportunity and the strength and the strategy that uses the opportunity while overcoming the weakness. 6) As for the basic competition strategy, most of them thought of the strategy of professionalizing the medical service most importantly. Next, they focused on the strategy of distinct service and the strategy of lower prime cost. 2. Conclusion 1) Because service competition between hospitals is happening seriously, need competitiveness security through right awareness transfer and satisfaction upgrade about medical consumer. 2) For medical technique service upgrade that equip Hospital's competitiveness but affects most, must solidify the countermeasure because professionalizing the medical service and newest medical technique induction should be achieved first, and compose task force for the external service of medical techniques improvement. 3) To improve SWOT of hospital, opportunity and the strength strategy choice that rescue hospital's characteristics heightening professionalizing the medical service level is fancied. 4) As for the basic competition strategy, will have to try in phase triangular position of hospital which is trusted medical level upgrade and excellent manpower security and finance independence through upgrade. The study was only done with hospitals in Daejeon, Chungnam and Chungbuk. Also, it is a study from the side of suppliers of medical service so there are limitations. However, the significance of the study is to present the basic data for improvement of hospital's competitiveness by examining the importance of medical techniques and external service of medical techniques that are the main effects on the improvement of hospital's competitiveness.

공동창업의 단계별 성공요인에 관한 연구: 기회형 창업기업 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Success Factors of Co-Founding Start-up by Step: Focusing on the Case of Opportunity-type Start-up)

  • 창업가 관점에서 스타트업의 태생적 한계를 이해하고 실패에 대한 위험부담을 줄이며 성공을 위해 가장 중요한 요인 중 하나는 인재 즉, 창업팀의 구성이다. 이에 예비창업 단계 또는 창업초기 단계의 창업가들이 경험하는 공통적인 고민은 단독창업과 공동창업에 대한 선택일 것이다. 그럼에도 우리나라는 현재 단독창업 비중이 공동창업 대비 현저히 높은 실정이다. 이에 반해 다수의 성공적인 글로벌 혁신기업은 공동창업의 형태라는 점에 주목하여 공동창업 기업의 성공요인에 관해 고찰하였다. 관련 선행연구 대부분 창업의 생존과 성공에 미치는 요인으로 창업가 개인의 역량과 특성을 규명하는 연구들로서 실제 창업생태계 현장에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 동업 즉, 공동창업에 관한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 기회형 창업에 성공한 국내 스타트업의 공동창업자를 대상으로 심층 인터뷰와 관련 자료의 수집, 맥락 정보의 분석 및 선행연구 고찰을 통한 다중사례 연구를 시도하였다. 이를 통해 공동창업의 단계별 특성과 핵심 성공요인을 도출하는 모델을 제언하였다. 연구결과, 예비창업 단계의 핵심요소는 '기회', 성공요인은 '창업가의 경험을 통한 기회인식'과 '아이디어 개발'로 나타났다. 창업초기 단계의 핵심요소는 '창업팀', 성공요인은 '창업팀의 신뢰와 상호보완'으로 '창업팀의 다양성과 동질성'이 조화를 이루어 시너지 효과가 발휘되는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 창업초기 공동창업자 간 발생하는 갈등은 창업생존에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 창업팀 갈등은 끊임없는 '의사소통을 통한 상호이해와 존중', '명확한 업무구분과 역할분담'으로 극복할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 창업성장 단계의 핵심요소는 '자원', 성공요인으로 '우수인재 확보'와 '외부자금 조달'이 주요 요인으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 창업학 연구에서 한정된 자원과 경험 부족 및 실패에 대한 위험부담 등 창업기업의 한계점을 극복하고 성공률 제고를 위한 대안 중 하나로 공동창업의 형태가 주목받는 상황에서 창업을 준비하는 예비 창업가들과 창업생태계의 다양한 이해관계자들에게 시사하는 바가 있다.
